How special the setting is overlooking the grassy marshland at sunset. Our wait person was excellent. Complimentary champagne and dessert for our anniversary was a treat. It seemed unusual they didn't have bread or crackers to go with our cocktails so we ordered the fresh-cut and attractively served french fries and they were delicious. I would have liked to had an option to have my rack of lamb medium and not just rare and the meat was very fatty but loved the mashed parsnips, The crusted walleye crust was a formidable crust, very thick, to get into the light-textured fish. The best was the smoke-infused pear salad, with great flavors. It was a magical evening and we'll be back again, maybe just for the hamburger.
It was nice to go from the play to the restaurant. The service excellent. I had the walleye and instead of actual tarter sauce they used so e type of mayonnaise and put it on top of the filet. Please use real tarter sauce and put it on the side. The Carrot cake was not very good and $10.95 was a high price for a small piece. Overall it was about the play and the friends we were with.
My wife and I both had the Panco crusted walleye; Excellent walleye.
Cast & Crew is now one of my favorite restaurant for walleye.
We are never disappointed when going to Cast and Cru. The wait staff is always friendly, the restaurant itself is very pretty and the food was delicious..
We enjoyed our dinner n the staff was very capable n helpful.
Started off with attentive, but not overbearing service. Pre-dinner drinks and appetizers came quickly. Good selection of menu items. Two of us had steak. Two, walleye. Very well-prepared! Not noisy, even with a homecoming group of around 20 teens. They were very well-behaved. (Who were those kids?!) Not rushed to leave after dinner. 100% great dining experience.
Good food great service but too noisy to even have conversations. Actually hurt my throat from shouting to my table guests.
We visited before seeing a show at the Old Log Theater. Marc our server was amazing. He anticipated all our needs before we even asked. The food was amazing, we had the Short Ribs, and came out so quickly. We were surprised to learn that they were short staffed in the kitchen because it did not show at all. So congrats to the kitchen staff for killing it!! Will definitely be coming back!!
I ordered the New York strip which was cooked perfectly. It’s sauce was delicious. The green beans side were fresh and crispy.
went out to eat with my friends for homecoming! we took pictures outside & enjoyed dinner indoors. the staff was so incredibly kind and helpful! thank you!
Their Caesar dressing is delicious…one of the best I’ve had. The other food was very good, especially the duck poppers. The red house wine was fabulous. Beautiful outdoor setting.
We didn't know what to expect - the food was terrific and the service excellent. We had a great evening and will come again.
Marc was a great and professional server. He made our night out an absolute pleasure. The food was wonderful as well.
A lovely and leisurely evening w friends on the Cast n Cru patio. Becoming a regular restaurant stop for us. Loved the Duck Poppers!
Went for our 10 year anniversary. Had the mussels- they were good but had some spice. Then we had shorts ribs and the rack of lamb, both really good. Ended with chocolate decadent cake- super! We will for sure be back. The restaurant is located in a great area, and our waitress was great.
the place is nice, food is ok. loud noisy loud speaker beside the table. chicken wings are big but a little bland and dry. have to ask for extra buffalo sauce and ranch.
Nice ambiance with the older style architecture. Mosquitoes were out in force for outdoor dining. The food was delicious especially the homemade fries
We tried Cast and Cru for the first time Friday night. We had made reservations for 5:30 but arrived quite a bit earlier than expected and were seated. (It was just us and another couple!) Happy hour was from 4:00 til 5:00 so we got two glasses of very good wine for a very good price! This restaurant's house wine is a much higher quality than what we've normally found in other restaurants. I ordered walleye and my husband ordered salmon for dinner. Both were very good! Our server, Breeana, did a great job.
When we made our reservation, we were disappointed that we couldn't reserve outdoor dining at the early time we were arriving. But, what we found was that the dining room has large open windows with screens that made it feel like we were sitting outside! Actually better as there were no bugs. Definitely consider the dining room with the windows as it was really nice. Loved it!
We will definitely return and next time, we're bring some friends that we know will like Cast and Cru.
We had a fantastic meal on the patio. The ambiance was amazing and Hunter was a great server.
Great food, service and ambience.
Fantastic service, delicious food, and relaxing outdoor atmosphere!
The location is lovely, however the menu is rather limited. The hamburgers were good yet the other entrees were mediocre. The wait staff were friendly.
Tucked away on a side street right near downtown Excelsior Cast and Cru is a place to which I will return for sure!
The staff were engaging, easy to talk to, attentive, and happy to provide excellent service.
Two of our 4 meals were returned due to not being correct, an honest and easy mistake as they were a bacon burger plane and cheese burger sliders. Got the bacon cheese burger and plain sliders. Wait staff responded perfectly, refired and quickly served.
Other two meals were wagyu steak. It was a great price point of $35 and the steak was tasty. It was a thin cut, but flavorful. The green beans were perfectly cooked and deliciously seasoned.
For appetizers we had the truffle fries and duck poppers. Delicious!
Had Mt Veneer Cabernet as a beverage, new to me and quickly a new favorite!
Overall great meal, in a fantastic atmosphere. Overpriced for the quality of the food.
Fabulous - new favorite date night location! Excellence all around.
Beautiful grounds, great food and awesome Tiki bar!!
We like it because of the tradition of going to the Old Log for years..... love being able to take a drink outside and sit or walk around. One of favorite places to eat and hang out
Fantastic service, and the food and drinks were delicious!
We enjoyed our meals and the food was very good, but the restaurant week 3 course set menu was a little light. I was expecting the chef and kitchen to really shine.
Great dinner. Service was really good. Beautiful views
This place is a gem. Magical, beautiful, luxurious. Unbelievably special.
We visited Cast & Cru on 7/15/21, during Restaurant Week. It was a 3 course meal, and was divine! We loved being able to dine al fresco with our dog.
So good to be back! All 4 of us loved our cocktails and entrees: short rib never disappoints, excellent burger, salad and pasta. Will be back soon!
Hunter was our server and he was so great! The food was exceptional, will definitely be bringing friends and family visiting from out of town. 10/10 would recommend :)
Our favorite out-of-the city spot.
Our server was Steven who is just delightful and makes for a perfect experience.
Our evening out at the Cast & Cru was great. We had a friend from out of town and took her there. She was impressed. Food and drinks were great - fun atmosphere for nice summer nights!
Food and service was impeccable. Great hidden gem. Lovely outdoor seating available. Tiki hut open for cocktails too.
Looking for outdoor dining this is the place. Great food and service.
A perfect experience. Serene outdoor view. Excellent service from Olivier. Perfect temperature in the shade with no bugs. Thank you!!
Exceptional service. Fresh flavorful food Great cocktails and wine choices. And a beautiful setting on top of it! I can’t believe we didn’t know about this place!! We will be back.
