Cask Ratings and Reviews
Seating inside was plentiful however we were initially seated right by the kitchen. Asked to move and we were relocated. Noticed that someone was sat at the table we just left. Strange that they had that strategy to seat people by the kitchen and it was noisy there. The staff seemed very junior, the valet and hostesses. Food was great and good beer and wine selections.
Food was very good and very creative. The pretzel appetizer is a large pretzel that is fried with a light and soft inside, the outside is lightly salted and served with an excellent cheese dipping sauce.
The low country carbarona is an excellent pasta dish, with nice helpings of fish, shrimp, crab and bacon, while the sauce has a nice spicy kick to its creaminess.
The place is nice, the staff and service was great. I was not pleased with the food. I ordered the short ribs, they were sold out. The server didn't know that. I ordered steak in replaced of the short ribs. I didn't care for that meal, I had also order a cheeseburger which taste burnt. I was pleased at all with the food.
Very nicely decorated, nice ambiance. Service was good, our table was wobbly so manager came over and tried to fix it but it was still wobbly. I guess no big deal but for a pricey dinner out expect the tables not to nearly tip over while eating! Food was good, not over the top- ordered chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. Overall, would go back for maybe apps and drinks, but probably not dinner, just a little too overpriced for the quality.
It was very early for dinner before a show. The place was empty so our service was excellent. It was also happy hour pricing for cocktails and appetizers. Must try the buffalo cauliflower. The citrus scallops were also great. Excellent food and service. I’m sure the ambiance would be a bit different later in the evening.
The food was very good! My mother and I ordered the shrimp and grits. Unfortunately my mother is extremely allergic to pork and our food had bacon all over it! The description on the menu for the shrimp and grits didn't say that there was bacon in it. My mom was able to spit out her first bite and avoid being sick! I alerted the waitress (who was very nice and apologetic) and I thought perhaps the manager might come over to address the situation but got nothing. The waitress told me she spoke with someone who said they would be changing that on the menu soon.
Food was amazing. Bartender was not friendly at all. Had maybe 3 customers and still had to ask to order food from her. Can’t say we saw her smile once, but we did hear about her weekend as she spoke about the latest gossip with the other bartender! Never left a review before but being a business professional in Tampa, I’ve never had such a bad experience in the local area. Unfortunate when the staff doesn’t match the ambiance and value of the establishment they are working in. Wouldn’t recommend Sunday brunch, purely on service.
Beyond disappointed. Looked like a cool place, menu looked fun and drinks looked delicious. Interior was kind of cool, get to our table and the seats were full of crumbs. We started to brush them off thinking the host would offer another table or clean it off for us. Nope! Ordered 2 drinks that should have been pretty much all bourbon and they tasted like simple syrup. Got the filet Benedict, steak was paper think and all fat, English muffin was burnt to a crisp but the egg was poached nice. Potatoes were tasty but cool to the touch. French toast tasted like a funnel cake and the grease after taste was gross. Ordered a couple drinks that are infused with cigar smoke thinking it would be a nice after brunch drink and clear the fried taste out of our mouths and nope, another fail. Just bland watered down bourbon is all. Had to wait forever to get our tab and while we waited, we looked around and noticed all the tables around us had tons of food left while they were paying...skip this place!
We went for brunch with our 11 month old. We were seated upstairs and rather liked it. Our server was great at first but we were her only table upstairs so she became MIA. The coffee she brought was warm, at best. Another server ended up getting us more coffee, a knife and our check. The other issue I had was with my order: eggs Benedict with filet medallions. The meat had fat in it, was difficult to cut and frankly tough to eat. My conclusion is it was filet, which is fine but say that and don’t charge like it is. Loved the atmosphere and our second server was super friendly. We’d go back but it left a tough taste in my mouth, so to speak.
The place was very loud and kind of a mess when we walked in for an 8:30 reservation. Lots of tables with plates sitting on them that needed cleared. Not a good impression at first. Also very loud. However, once we were seated our waitress was great and the food was very good. Shrimp and Grits were amazing. On the app side I really liked their tomatoes capri. Also had some good craft beers on tap.
Went on a Thursday about 4:30 pm. The valet guys tried to force us to valet or told me i could park in the street. There was ONE other car in the entire parking lot. All parking spots are about 10-20 feet from the door. We decided to just leave instead. When when told him this. He let us park. (I could understand if they were busy). Anyway...the hostess was great, she let us pick our table. The decor inside the place is spot on amazing. It happened to be happy hour app/drinks. We got a few of each. The deviled eggs are amazing and the taco trio is mouthwatering flavor in each and every bite. I ordered a French 75 and the bartender did my disappoint. I will be back as long as the valet guys are not rude again.- when we left they only had 4 cars in lot! We were gone by 5:45 before the big dinner rush.
During our experience at Cask, our waitress was fairly absent and we waited long for everything. 20 minutes after ordering our meal I was told that the kitchen was out of the dish I had ordered, then, 10 minutes after ordering another dish I was again told that they were also out of that entree. I was disappointed in this, however, the other dishes we ordered were tasty as well as the cocktails. I enjoyed the unique atmosphere.
The food was good but they undercooked my filet. I sent it back twice. By the time I got my steak cooked the way I ordered it, the rest of my food was cold. Without asking, they took a small percentage of my bill. However, $4 service recovery on a $95 bill is laughable.
I am pleased to give Cask the best possible review. Our server, Cassandra, was outstanding. She was prompt and made recommendations based on our questions. She even sent the bartender over to our table when we asked how to make one of Cask’s specialty cocktails! Our food arrived in good time and was cooked to order: I ordered the 8 oz filet medium rare, and it was perfect. The truffle mac & cheese, which I requested as an additional side, was so good it took my breath away. I went to Cask on New Year’s Eve, because it was one of the few restaurants in Tampa that had reservations available and was offering a full menu (in addition to a fixed price menu), but I can’t wait to and definitely will go back!
