Carver's is always good and is one of our very favorite restaurants in Rancho Bernardo. Have been going there for years and so glad it is open again.

Carver's has been our go-to restaurant for many years when we're hungry for a tender, delicious ribeye, prime rib, or any one of their other excellent choices. On the expensive side, yes -- but given the quality of their food, the great service and the wonderful atmosphere, the cost is justified. Unfortunately, our dinner there last Sunday didn't meet their usual high standards. We were seated immediately upon arrival in the outdoor area as requested, and after the waitress delivered our drink order, she brought out the usually fine loaf of dark bread. Except this loaf must have been sitting in a cupboard for the past three weeks because it was as stale as it could possibly be. Cutting through it produced a table full of crumbs, and it was basically uneatable. But we said nothing since it was only the bread. My wife ordered the Chicago cut ribeye -- "very rare" -- and I ordered the same but cooked medium rare. When the stakes were delivered, they were BOTH closer to medium. My wife nicely mentioned to the waitress that hers was not very rare as requested, and the waitress returned it to the kitchen and promised a new steak as soon as possible. Mine was not what I ordered either, but I wasn't about to return both steaks, so I kept it. Finally after about 15 minutes, when I was practically done eating, her steak was delivered exactly as she had requested the first time. I'm posting all this mostly so that the restaurant is aware that their usually excellent food and service was not present last Sunday evening. Maybe they had the "C Team" in the kitchen that night, and I'm sure the pandemic has resulted in many restaurants losing some of their most skilled employees. We actually went there to celebrate the reopening of Carvers since it's at the top of our list of restaurants, and we will most assuredly go there again. But spending $120+ on a dinner for two -- which we were certainly prepared to do -- one should expect better. I'm just hoping that our experience there l

Wait staff seemed over-burdened. Go with garlic mashed potatoes, not the baked. The baked potato was over-cooked and the condiments were simply piled on. Wine was ok; nothing notable in taste or presentation. The entrée was nicely cooked; no complaints.

We had great service and the food was fantastic as always! Filet mignon and prime rib were cooked perfectly. The early bird dinner specials come with a side and soup/salad and our children love the kids menu. Overall, a wonderful experience!

We chose patio seating and was disappointed there were no heaters. The steaks were all undercooked but still edible without having to send back which we hate to do. Otherwise we enjoyed our dinner and first time at the restaurant. Will definitely try again.

We love Carvers, we could eat there every night. They have the best menu and service. Theyre a bit far for us to go often. They used to have Bentleys which we loved and was close. We ate there every week! Wish they had a location closer to beach area.

Carver's has been around for a long time. The food is still great! Prime Rib and Ribs were excellent!
Great value for $s spent - meals include soup or salad, as well as potato or vegetable.
There was good separation between tables and they had added acrylic screens for between booths which was good.

Suggestions for improvement:
Need to update the interior of the restaurant at some point. It's badly in need of an update to brighten up the inside.
Training needed-our server seemed new to serving wine. She brought the bottle of Justin Cabernet and proceeded to pour among the 3 glasses. She didn't seem to notice that she had committed a big error by not pouring a taste for the person who ordered the wine (if one of our wine snob friends had been there he would have probably yelled at her).

Always enjoy Carvers. We used to go for dinner and the live band and dancing every week-end. Some of the staff has said that the music will not be coming back at all. I don't know if this means anything to the owner but they may be losing us as a dinning customer as we look for an alterterant to our dining and dancing. I am sure others are considering the same thing. A suggestion would be to charge a cover for all those coming in after 9:00 PM. I hope they will consider this. Carvers has been an anchor for fine dining and entertainment for at least 20 years that I know of. There is really no other place to go in RB for live rock and roll and diner.

Took my mother out for her birthday and was not disappointed. The service was great and although there were a lot of cars in the parking lot, did not feel crowded in restaurant. Will definitely come back.

When reservations were made we noted it was our anniversary. Never any recognition of it by staff. We also requested a romantic seating section. Instead we were shuffled off to the cold Florida room.. food was great, our server terrific but the rest was a big disappointment!

Beautiful place, the service was pretty good. The three appetizers we had were just OK, I was expecting better. My steak and potatoes were cold, none of the five in my group were very impressed.

We enjoyed the opportunity to dine in at one of our favorite go-to places during this epidemic. They were accommodating for both inside and outside diners. There was a robust crowd, but we felt safe at our socially distant outdoor patio table. They were a bit understaffed, but our waitress was on top of her game and never left us dry. The food wasn't as good as usual but the experience was priceless.

Excellent restaurant for steak, chops and seafood. Great atmosphere. It is a traditional independent steak house and definitely more inviting then the chains. Also, a great place for special occasions.

This was our first time here and the food and service honestly exceeded our expectations. It was their first night doing indoor dining in months and they were very busy, but we got seated near our reservation time and did not wait at all to be served. The food was really good and prices were very reasonable. Alfredo (I think that was his name) was attentive and personable. Considering how busy they were, it was really astonishing that they were able to accommodate everyone.

we love Carvers. though this time both my husband and I got our steak more cooked than usual. we got our usual, medium rare, but it's more like medium well. though it's still tasty and we are just glad to be out and about! Would still go back for sure/ great place to hang out.
