The Senator's Prime Rib
Northwest raised beef, Idaho baked potato, warm horseradish sauce & au jus
Local pork chop with apple relish, mashed red potatoes & seasonal vegetable
Fried Ballard Farms Halloumi cheese served with house made spiced apple jam
Our server was good. However, she wasn’t on top of her game. Filling our water asking if we need anything and checking. It was a busy night though. Overall, everything was good.
Birthday for my lady
This is a mixed review based on a party of 4. My wife and I each had the French onion soup. We both found it to lack the richness that we would normally expect from French onion soup. In addition it was lukewarm. My bolognese pasta with prime rib was bland, barely warm, and the pasta tough. My wife's vegetable salad, except for the lettuce, came with a scarcity of vegetables. On the brighter side, our dining companions enjoyed and were complimentary of their entrees, prime rib and the popsicle lamb chops. The servers were pleasant, but the service slow. It seems clear that our food sat for too long before being served, explaining that items were not warm enough. Be aware that if you choose outdoor seating, you will be on on busy and noisy street.
Service from Jake was lovely! Great Covid seating situation outside—might need space heaters soon though!
Overall, we had a good dining experience, but the food quality was not what we've been used to compared with our previous visits, which were outstanding. My husband & I both ordered prime rib (which we've ordered before), I ordered medium rare & my husband ordered medium. Mine was actually medium & my husband's looked well-done. Disappointed, but we'll be back, as we think it may have been an "off" night. With the pandemic, we try to support local businesses, and realize it's been a tough time for restaurants in particular. Hopefully this one will improve it's quality at least to be more consistent.
It wasn’t that busy, but the food came out super slow and served to wrong table. They had to remake. Service was slow. Food was good. Ambiance was good. Liked it better post Covid.
Lovely outdoor patio with tables well separated. All the staff very friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious! One of the best hamburgers ever and the blackened salmon was great. We were in town for the one evening and could not have found a more agreeable and covid-safe place to dine.
Capitol Cellars is our go-to if we are hoping for a quiet, romantic, exceptional meal and experience. We especially love that the owner is always on site and visits with us. The staff is friendly and interactive. The food is always delicious. We live the local wines too. Thank you for being a favorite for us.
Wonderful staff and ambience, great food too!
I attended the ROSE THIS WAY event on the Capitol Cellars patio! We had a wonderful time. Ambiance, food, wine and service were top notch. Can’t wait to try their Saturday brunch and have a Bloody Mary!
Two prime ribs and the sides served cold. We returned it and it came back grayish brown like they stuck it in a microwave. We returned again and were never asked if we wanted something else and no apologies were offered. When we informed the manager of our experience he simply turned and walked away. At least the hot dog from the cart on Capitol and main was good.
We usually LOVE Capitol Cellars, but this time the bad service really ruined everything. We easily waited 30-45 minutes with empty plates between appetizers and soup/salad, and again between soup/salad and our meal. We were never checked on or updated, and our table wasn’t bussed between courses. They ran out of the appetizer we wanted, the side I wanted, and the dessert we both wanted. It was frustrating that our waitress never even offered to let us know they were running low on the dessert in case we wanted to place an order for of in advance. She also never offered to comp anything, which was odd considering how much they were out of that we asked for, and how long we had to wait between courses. My husband even had to go ask where our food was at one point. Our wine glasses were never refilled, our water was never refilled. It was just a really unfortunate experience. It felt like a waste of money, as it just left us both really frustrated, especially as this was supposed to be a very special date for us that we’d been looking forward to.
Unfortunately, our experience was sub par. Our waiter, who was very nice, seemed to be running the entire restaurant on his own and this reflected in the very slow food and cocktail service. The food arrived very late and to be honest was not reflective of the prices. We won’t be returning.
My husband and I went to Capital Cellars to celebrate our anniversary, and what a great choice it was. The ambiance, service, and especially the food was extraordinary! I hope to be back again soon!
Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Best patio and prime rib in Boise!
Nice outdoor seating options. Definitely plan to return for afternoon wine or cocktails and 1st readings.
The two of us were both disappointed with our entrees. My husband's pasta dish was liquidy and my prime rib was not tender. My baked potato tasted like it had been cooked long before, quite evident as I skipped the sour cream and grated cheese to expose the potatoe's interior. The creme brulee was excellant, however. Sitting on the patio on the corner of Main and 5th was noisy, and concerning with the number of people walking by within close proximity without wearing masks!
Brunch outside was part of a fun Saturday morning downtown. Quiche was delicious! Service was great too!
Saturday brunch on the new extended patio was wonderful! Thank you Capitol Cellars! Food, service and ambiance were amazing! Can’t wait to come back. We felt safe and could tell they are taking extra precautions to do what’s right to keep people safe.
Was excited to eat here based on previous experiences after not visiting for over a year. Tonight was the last time we will be coming. We were seated and waited 15 minutes before we decided to leave because no one had come by our table. On the way out, the person who sat us wished us a good night. When I informed him that we were leaving because of how long we waited without a server. His only response was sorry. They have great food here and typically have great service but his response sealed my thoughts on coming back anytime soon. I would have been happy to reconsider my decision to leave if his response had been a bit more appropriate
Capital Cellars never disappoints. They have reconfigured their inside & outside dining to ensure safe distancing. The menu is diverse and appealing, the food is delicious.
We had a great dining experience out on the street level patio here at Capitol cellars! Our server Jake was very attentive, fun to converse with, and timed our meal perfectly! It is always a joy to eat dinner at this great local Boise establishment! Thank you
My husband and I had a wonderful date at Capitol Cellars. The service was spot on. We felt well taken care of. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented. They have a full bar which is awesome. Also worth noting, you can tell they have taken the proper steps during covid to keep customers and staff safe. We will be back soon!
Added shrimp to Ceasar salad and it was excellent! Service was attentive but not overwhelming. Brought our own wine and corkage fee was reasonable. I’d go again in a heartbeat!!
Capitol Cellars has gone above and beyond to provide a safe dining experience for guests. I was impressed. There patio is the best in Boise! The food and service were outstanding. Prime rib was amazing. Full bar and extensive wine list. There hours have changed since reopening and they offer lunch, happy hour, Saturday brunch and dinner.
Salmon was over cooked & risotto & beans were very bland!! Creme brûlée was great!!! Will not go back!!
Great ambiance, quiet, amazing food and the staff is superb!
Exceptional service and amazing food and drinks. Upscale yet welcoming vibe. I really enjoy their lovely patio!
A great place for a relaxing meal. Fantastic Service
Had a wonderful time. Great food. Great service. Will me back.
A unique restaurant. Incredible service, excellent wait staff and delectable food. I will definitely return again and again!
THE ESPRESSO WAS INCREDIBLE!!! Would absolutely recommend. The patio was so lovely! Such a nice Saturday morning.
Jake made our night extra special! This spot is such an incredible place, with stellar food and perfect service.
The food was fabulous, the service was wonderful, and everyone was dedicated to a safe dining experience.
We had such a great time at the restaurant! Service and food was great!
The service was excellent. The appetizer we ordered was good, but our entrees were both bland and had us looking for a salt shaker that wasn’t there.
Capitol Cellars, Logan Smyser and crew continue to shine! Our food was cooked perfectly and was beautifully presented to our table.
Our server, Matt, was the perfect combination of wit, friendliness and efficiency.
I would highly recommend Capitol Cellars if you are looking for one of the top three dining experiences in Boise.
We had a great time and would definitely go back again. Servers were attentive and the food was excellent.
