Slow night..so service should've been better. Meal as expected.
Nice place to eat. Food was good but a little pricey for the quality. Overall good experience though and we enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere.
My wife and I have been here several times and they never disappoint. The staff is friendly and professional. The food is always very delicious. We would definitely recommend Cafe Verona.
I simply adore George. Each experience at a MRG restaurant is enjoyable, consistent, and a great meal. My friend and I loved our food, but mostly loved the opportunity to gab and do so while supporting local!
We had asked for another table (more private booth) but was told by the hostess that those were reserved. We had a reservation. It would have been nice to have an option on this app to reserve a specific kind of table/booth or if the hostess had given us the option of another table upon our request since we did have a reservation. The food was wonderful and service was delightful. Just wished the greeting had matched everything else.
My favorite restaurant in the KC Metro for many years. Today's lunch was delicious! Superb service! Great iced tea. Always delicious, beautiful ambiance, superb service. I'll go anytime.
The food was incredible. Rarely do we leave a restaurant without a to go box, but my wife and I both finished our entrees and shared a dessert and wiped our plates clean.
We had a craving for some good Italian and Cafe Verona has always been good. It is a nice place with good reasonable priced food. Give it a try!
If the wine list had been a bit better I would have given it 5 stars.
Great Valentine's Day! Ambience and great food! Bread was unique. Entrees flavorful and one of a kind! Have to have Lemon Berry cake!
The menu has changed up since we were last there, but it was all still very good. Tables are a bit close together so it's not the place for an intimate (quiet) dinner. The downstairs dining room is always full, go make sure you reserve a table and ask for 1st floor seating.
I always like to find off the beaten places to enjoy a nice romantic dinner. This year was a little harder as I have a broken femur and need to use a walker/wheelchair to get around. This was the perfect spot, not crowded, nice area to get around in and great service.
This should be a destination restaurant. But, on a main street in Independence Square, it is overlooked. The food is consistently good and value-priced. I have the Rigatoni Sausage Rosa ($15) most times, and the portion is generous. Unfortunately, the half-portion is only available for lunch. Service was friendly, prompt and accurate.
Great place! Good food, nice staff. Sent out a poorly made cocktail and made it right instantly, no questions asked. Love eating local!
I’ve been going to Cafe Verona for years for my birthday. The food is always wonderful and I’ve always had great service.
Enjoyed the food and SERVICE by Hanna
Best Italian Restaurant in KC area by far. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food and good value. Will visit again
Cafe Verona has consistent excellent service and amazing food! The atmosphere is quaint and relaxing. All of this at reasonable prices!
The front desk personnel were not friendly. We had made a reservation and were put at a table when we asked for a both they were not accommodating. Otherwise it is a favorite fir us!
Everything was very good
Cafe Verona presented a delightful contribution to Kansas City's Restaurant Week. The Veal Meatball appetizer was tender and full of comforting umami flavors. The gorgonzola strip was a generous and tender portion. The tiramisu would have benefited from some marsala, but it was beautifully presented in a coffee cup. Our server was quick and delightful despite having to climb flights of stairs over and over to meet our needs. Thank you Cafe Verona for helping me give my mom a birthday to remember fondly.
We visited Cafe Verona for the very first time during restaurant week in KC. Of all the places we ate that week, this was by far the very best food and best value! I think we've found our new favorite restaurant and look forward to our next visit.
The food was very good, but was most impressive was our server. I don't remember her name, but she was wonderful!
During this visit I just had the soup of the day and dessert, but that's what I love about Cafe Verona. I can go there to enjoy an incredible Italian dinner or stop by and get their amazing soup. Either way, I am always happy. I also love the zeppolis with coffee for dessert, which is a great Italian donut. I strongly recommend the soup of the day, whether its Tuscan Kale, or Orzo Lemon with Artichoke, they are devine and a great meal on a cold, winter night.
Love my local "go to" Italian at Cafe Verona.
Cafe Verona never disappoints. The Rustic Bow tie is my go to favorite.
The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The quality of food was awful. I had the chicken parmesan and the chicken was dry tough to cut with a knife. The dryness and toughness of the chicken and inconsistent hot spots throughout the dish definitely leads me to believe this dish or at least part of it was cooked or reheated in a microwave. I was really hoping for good quality authentic italian food, but I was sorely disappointed and would of had a 100 times better quality food from a generic chain italian restaurant.
Great find! We are adding to our regular go to restaurant list!!!!
Excellent service and the food was amazing. We’ve been to Italy numerous times and this competed. The burrata and honey blackberry anti pasta was excellent and fresh. All the Secondis were primo. And they pour real, full martinis. Thank you!
Its always a treat when we stop by Cafe Verona. I wish they would put their butternut squash ravioli on the menu full time. I crave it and can't find better on KC. Please!
We always visit Cafe Verona while visiting our family in Independence! My son recently relocated with an engineering firm here, moving from Texas! We have NEVER BEEN disappointed with the food, service, or ambiance!
However, we were extremely disappointed this time! Our reservations were for 7:00 PM and we were not aware of the restaurant closing at 8:00 PM , for Christmas Eve!
The food was rushed and certainly not as well prepared, as usual! There was vacuuming and cleaning around us, the entire time we were dining! We have never had this type of experience at this restaurant! We certainly understand employees having Christmas Eve off to spend with family! However, why open a restaurant if this is the result of closing early? Still one of our favorite restaurants when we visit from Florida!
Service was excellent, food was delicious
Dinner with friends is always great! Dinner with friends at Cafe Verona is always special! Thank you for the quality, the atmosphere, and the incredible food. When I dine at a McClain Company, I always feel like I am pampering myself because of the exceptional quality experience that it provides. Well Done!
As usual, Cafe Verona meets our expectations with great food, quiet ambiance, and excellent service. Bad weather night, only 2 other couples in the restaurant.
First time here. Dined with a girlfriend on a Saturday evening for an early dinner at 5pm. Excellent cocktail - I had the Elder Flower Martini. Cute little bar area inside the door if you have to wait for a table, we had a reservation so were immediately seated. Nice selection of food items, salad is included with entrees which is a plus. Service was attentive without being over the top, would have appreciated waiter asking if we had visited previously and sharing a bit of the menu with us or making recommendations. Despite that, we both chose well with my friend getting the Pesto Steak and I got the Rustico Pasta with Shrimp and prosciutto. Both were plentiful and we had leftovers. Will definitely take my husband back for a date night! Ambiance could be improved with some better lighting (table candles?) and some low music, but I appreciated that it wasn't loud and we could hear each other talk even with other diners around.
Everything was good except the lights were so bright I felt like I was in a Denny’s
Love this place, a hidden gem of KC on the Independence square, great service great atmosphere never disappointed, make sure to make reservations and get the Carbonara
Great anniversary dinner. Food was delicious and this place is very romantic.
As far as the food, the best Italian food I've ever had. It's my favorite restaurant in the Kansas City area. DELICIOUS!!
The food is average, the service is well below average. It wasn’t a particularly busy night, yet our water was never filled, my cocktail was wrong, and when I asked for it to be corrected a new one never came. We had to ask 3 times for bread, finally another waitress brought it. If I could give service zero stars I would.
