Café on the Green
The food at Cafe on the Green was excellent. Both entrees were very well prepared. The view of the golf course, even at night, was very nice. The atmosphere was quiet and elegant.
The outstanding service and the wine list are the two strong points here. Worth visiting.
We love the Cafe', nicest staff. great food, perfect setting!
We always enjoy dining at Cafe on the Green. The dinners are delicious and the wait staff is very attentive.
Always wonderful food and service. Highly recommended!
One of our favorite spots and we return to it for special occasions or a night out. Good to see familiar faces. Food is always excellent, and what we really appreciate is the portion control. And they know how to make a good mixed drink at the bar. Dessert with coffee (I don't know how, but they really make a damn good cup of coffee, which I find more and more rare these days) and sambuca topped off the night. Well done and can't wait to return.
Lovely meal, poor service. Very disappointed.
Never brought bread, despite table being preset with the butter for the bread. Entrees were delicious - Filet with Gorgonzola brandy sauce. Waited 40 minutes after entrees were cleared to receive dessert, which was included in the Prix Fixe meal and had been ordered at the beginning of the meal. Creme Brûlée had to be sent back— it was cold with practically no crust. Felt ignored throughout the meal. Service was not commensurate with the price and ambience. Will not return.
As always since we dine at the restaurant or pub frequently the food was very good and the service was excellent
Holiday dining is a real challenge for a restaurant, with high demand and high expectations. This is our fourth year at Cafe on the Green for Christmas Eve, and they handle it all very well. The prix fixe menu gives just enough variety to satisfy most, but keep things flowing. Staff work incredibly hard to provide great service and keep the busy schedule on time. Our lamb chops were not the best, but everything else was just right, from shrimp appetizer to really good carrot cake dessert. We very much appreciate the Cafe being open and doing an overall very good job for everyone. As a result we have hosted private family gatherings and casual dinners there...and we travel from another state to be with family in the vicinity. Thank you Cafe on the Green.
Very solid restaurant - always good service, great food and a nice atmosphere. We enjoyed our dinner there as always!
Very nice staff. Had to send my lamb back twice. Noisy. Minimal decorations for the holidays especially outside no lights ! Expensive. But glad they were open as very few places had availability
Cafe on the Green is a guaranteed great meal every time. It’s renovated interior is fresh and updated, the service is always top notch and the prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. Don’t hesitate to try it out.
Went for Thanksgiving. Entrance seemed like a community center. Staff were friendly, but not very attentive. Butternut squash soup and desserts were good. Turkey dinner drab and dry - without much stuffing or gravy. Had to track down server to get some coffee before we finished desserts (coffee was included in prix fixe). Overall, fine, but not fancy or festive or great
Enjoyed the beautiful light with the open windows and views of the course! Food was delicious and the wait staff friendly and attentive!
Went with family for Thanksgiving and it was perfect!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners! Great food! Staff was so polite. It was very enjoyable.
Great meeting spot between my and ct to meet our friends for dinner! Will return!
I have been here a number of times. The food has always been very good and it appears that the place was updated not to long ago. I would highly recommend this place!
Excellent as usual
Quiet Sunday afternoon meal with old friends. Excellent food, priced well and attentive service.
As we prepare to move away from Connecticut, we had to make sure to get one last visit to Cafe on the Green. Always a wonderful experience! We will miss this place but not Connecticut taxes!
Wine mark-up was not too bad. Entrees were good, dessert was excellent. A little noisy as a very large party arrived just as we ordered, but not intrusive.
Great food, wonderful view of the golf course and the service was terrific. Had the chicken Florentine and it was very nice. Would recommend to anyone!
As always the service and food is first class. This is a restaurant to be highly recommended.
Visting from out of state, we are pleased to periodically return to the Cafe on the Green as a location for family meals or events. The setting is very nice winter or summer, overlooking the golf course. Staff are unfailingly welcoming and helpful, and the food is consistently good. In an area dotted mostly with chain restaurants, the Cafe offers something different, and does it well.
I would recommend Café on the Green as a perfect spot for lunch on the kind of day it was when my friend and I visited. Not too hot, a nice breeze and some golfers to watch. Service was just O.K. I cannot recall our server asking if we wanted dessert or coffee, but we received the check before we were able to order it. My burger was fine; nothing special. My friend had the chick pea salad with shrimp, which she enjoyed. Our desserts were very good, but when is dessert bad? Overall, it was a nice lunch. Next time, I would order something other than the burger.
We took two friends visiting from Florida there for dinner
They were equally impressed
I didn’t realize that Danbury has such a wonderful place. The food and service was terrific
The perfect place for dinner with old friends and to catch up
Environment was quiet and we never felt rushed
They will definitely be seeing us again
We were a party of five, and all of us loved our dinner!! We will be back!
It was a pleasant afternoon and the food great. Even the birthday candles on our desert. Thanks...
Absolutely. It never fails to disappoint. It is our go to restaurant for special occasions in the area.
I went to Cafe in the Green with my sister and father on Father’s Day and it was a perfect experience. It was a 4 course pre-fixed menu with your options on the first, third and fourth courses. I was unable to eat due to health issues which they were very understanding of. My father and sister loved their food (it looked soooo delicious) and the scenery was beautiful. Our server was gracious, accommodating, and attentive. He deserves the most credit, although everything was wonderful. My sister took the tab since I did not eat, and I was in the industry for 10 years myself so this review should not be taken lightly! Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful experience. The food, service and atmosphere helped the evening to flow beautifully.
Food, service, location were just what i was expecting. Our drinks however were horrible. I was so looking forward to your French Martini as it has always been fabulous at your establishment....it was drowning in Chambord and my husband had a gin and tonic and the tonic was flat......we normally would have said something but we were entertaining guests etc....that was the only disappointing part....
We were a table of 8 and the only people who ate there that night. The waiter was pleasant but once the meal was served he was absent. We had to look for him to refill our water glasses.
While we understand including the gratuity in the bill for a party of 8, the gratuity that was added was abusive. 20% was added to the total bill which included the tax. In effect this was a 23% gratuity.
All 8 of us felt taken advantage of.
Lunch with a cousin who found us through DNA!
We were celebrating two adult birthdays with 8 people. We shared several appetizers, ordered off of the specials menu as well as the regular menu and most of us had dessert. There wasn't a morsel of food not eaten! Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding. We all can't wait to go back!
Food was good but service was lacking. Off the beaten path if you don't know where you are going.
