French Onion Soup
Cafe Normandie never fails for a wonderful evening of great food and service.
Portions are not huge, but cooking is very good. Everything is tasty. Early bird special offers soup, salad, or appetizer plus entree plus dessert for $40. Good value.
Great cocktail menu. I enjoyed the french version of a marguerita. The soup du jour was delicious and so was there rest of the food. The restaurant serves great portions almost large. I liked the atmosphere. The waiting staff was really professional and very accomodating.
We met some friends from an hour away for dinner and though our original reservation was for another day, they accommodated us even though they were very busy.
Exceptional service. The food was really good, wine was nice and the ambiance allowed for lots of fabulous conversation. The evening was a success.
Our hostess was very nice. My crepe was little too salty for my liking though we surely enjoyed our daughter’s birthday lunch at this restaurant.
Loved the outdoor decor, had a great lunch including the calamari and the creamy crab soup which was incredible! They were very short staffed there but apologized often and just made for a more leisurely lunch. Would definitely return
Always on point! Love this place!
Outrageously fine food and service. Cafe Normandie never disappoints. This is why I keep coming back whenever I find myself in Annapolis!
Food and service were outstanding. We enjoyed the veal and seafood crepes.
I've seen other reviews where it was said that the staff could be downright snooty. That was NOT our experience. Everyone went out of their way to make sure our dinner was the best it could be, especially our server Anna! On top of that, the food was utterly fantastic. I had the roast duck w/raspberry sauce, my wife, the Annapolis crepe. For dessert, she had a wonderful chocolate raspberry cake and I had a creme brulee the way that it's supposed to be served, cold and creamy on the inside with a just torched caramelized crust on top. Overall, an absolute wonderful dining experience.
Food was great. Wine was very good. A few holes in the service, seemingly new hires.
We had a great time celebrating my wife's birthday. Our server Anna was especially good.
My boyfriend and I visited for his birthday dinner. Unfortunately, as avid fans of French cuisine, we found the food, ambience, and value were average at best. A huge disappointment from “the most romantic restaurant in Annapolis.”
Great staff and experience. Food was wonderful.
The food was definitely the best thing about Cafe Normandie. The service was very slow, but that could be a lack of staff due to Covid
Lovely and delicious in a nutshell! The service was excellent and all wait staff was attentive and eager to make your dining experience wonderful. Highly recommend a trip here. Food was outstanding and drinks delicious. Worth the trip here for sure
We had an indoor reservation, but when we arrived saw that the tables were way too close together in a pandemic, so we waited quite a while to eat outside. One of our tables had a large part of its top completely lifted and cracked, unappealing!
The food was pretty good.
It was very unpleasant to sit right by the road with cars going by immediately beside us. Servers were very pleasant and efficient.
The food was excellent, as were the cocktails. It's not a big place but sits on the Main Street. Our server was quite busy but very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Reliably good and well-prepared food at reasonable prices in a comfortable setting. Great for everyday dining but you might go elsewhere for that "special-occasion" meal.
Music playing too loud for a restaurant with so many customers, especially at lunch. Wait staff was taxed but did an excellent job. Returning after many years, I was disappointed to find so few crepes on the menu.
A sign outside the restaurant said they were hiring staff for all positions, and another sign asked for patience with the staff that were there. The service was fine, but it was the food that fell short. We dined on a Sunday evening, so perhaps it was not unusual that the restaurant seemed to be out of several things we tried to order. We settled on Beef Bourguignon and Duck with Raspberry sauce. The beef tasted oddly like bacon, with no hint of red wine flavor. The duck, promised as "crispy", was not, and the raspberry sauce could not be detected. Also, it was supposed to come with potatoes, which it did not. I understand the restaurant is owned by a chef of some repute, so I'm guessing he doesn't have adequate backup when he's out of the restaurant. The decor was quite dated as well, which makes me thing that Normandie is experiencing hard times financially, as are so many restaurants during the pandemic. The online menu looked very promising and we had great expectations of a nice meal, but unfortunately it turned out to be a disappointing experience.
We ate here for brunch and sat outside. The eggs Benedict was good - eggs cooked perfectly. (I did not like the Canadian bacon they used.). The potatoes served on the side were delicious.
Great lunch- French crepes and French onion soup. Wish we lived closer!
We had a wonderful experience on a date night! Our server, Tatiana, was an absolute joy. Very kind and welcoming and had excellent recommendations. We always have a wonderful experience at Cafe Normandie!
We had a great experience this weekend. It was our first time eating here and Service and food were both outstanding. Great specials on the menu. Would definitely recommend, we will be back.
Great vacay getaway! Loved your restaurant !
Always a good time and a great meal at Cafe Normandie. We had escargot, artichoke with crab, pâté, scallops with risotto, sea bass, and boulibase. All excellent except maybe the artichoke; could be just a matter of personal taste. Enjoy!
Food (crepes) and service were terrific. Continues to be a great place to go.
The food and service were both superb. We started with the baked Brie with honey and roasted almonds served with sour dough bread - amazing! Then we shared the escargot. They were excellent - not oily or chewy, but cooked in a wonderfully, well balanced combination of seasoned butter and a wine maybe. The cream of crab soup and nice lumps of meat and was creamy to perfection. The crab cake was good - not necessarily the best I’ve ever had especially at a market value of $42, but I was wanted accordingly. My companion enjoyed the seafood crêpe. I wasn’t completely sold on the lobster sauce, but it wasn’t my entree! The portion sizes were large - definitely accounting for the prices. The host, waitress, and runner were all most helpful and kind. I look forward to my next Annapolis trip so that I can take others to Café Normandy.
Wonderful dining experience, great food and service!
Great breakfast! Pretty awful dinner. Overcooked filet mignon is criminal, accompanied by equally ruined foie Gras, and I've had better vegetables on airplanes. Wait Staff are wonderful and hardworking. Shame their chef let them down.
Great food and service…definitely coming back!
Food was excellent and the service great
Excellent experience. Brie appetizer, spinach and mushroom crepe were outstanding. Scallops and risotto as good as any we’ve had. Service was perfect. A nice place to go and not rush!
If you're looking for a place with a relatively calm atmosphere that has friendly service and great-tasting food, then Cafe Normandie is an ideal pick. There are also nice wine offerings and neatly presented dishes.
Great value. Great menu. Will be going there again.
Birthday and 4th of July
With the exception of 2020, I have traveled domestically and internationally much of my life. Last night I returned to Cafe Normandy for the second time after a three year hiatus. It was all that I remembered it to be. Without qualification this is one of the best French bistros I ever encountered either in the US or France. The 1/2 roasted chicken is exceptionally. Like every other restaurant, I'm sure staffing is an issue, which made service a little bit slower. However, it is certainly worth a five or ten minute wait.
Food was excellently prepared, delicious to taste, and nicely served. Restaurant ambiance was very warm, even cozy, and staff was attentive and easy to deal with. Excellent choice for any occasion.
