So fun! We had a great time walking the gardens, then a wonderful brunch which was more like a real dinner than the broiled tomatoes you usually get at brunch... Great. from start to finish.

Then a walk on the beach just down the road. A birthday extravaganza.

Sherman Garden is a hidden gem of great joy. The Cafe is relaxed and at the same time, elegant. The food is delicious and healthy.

With excellent French food, a nice (inexpensive) wine list, and the spectacular view of the Sherman Gardens, Cafe Jardin in Corona Del Mar is a gem. Must haves include the pate plate, with pickled vegetables, any of the french entrees (I love their fish). Save room for wonderful dessert, including warm apple tart, rich chocolate cake, and others. The terrace is gorgeous, and mostly shaded. Leave 30-60 minutes in your schedule to wander the lovely small gardens. Because the restaurant is inside the gardens, you will pay a modest entry fee to get in.

You can beat eating in a gorgeous garden and the food is amazing ! Only complaint was when my girlfriend ordered a side of capers and a young gal came to deliver it and my friend was talking wirh her hands and knocked the dish out of her hands ......wow what an eyeroll she turned and walked away and brought more but had a attitude about it and no one came by to clean up the mess ....i was shocked !

Always a treat to visit Sherman Gardens and enjoy a delicious lunch at Cafe Garden. Anything on their menu is out of this world, the trout to octopus to desserts can't be beat! Besides walking the area be sure to visit the Gift Store, beautiful and unusual items to purchase.

We stopped in for Sunday brunch as it was convenient for our plan to spend time at the Sherman botanical garden. However, we were surprised to find that the food was so fantastic. Their butternut squash soup was delicious and they are one of the rare restaurants that has served us a beet salad prepared by someone who must actually like beets! It was the best ever. These were followed by an equally well prepared cheese omelet to share. The main entrées were a succulent lamb osso bucco with just the right amount of exotic spices without being "spicy" and a moist roast chicken. Finishing with a strawberry sorbet and an amazing egg tart made this meal the highlight of our vacation weekend. The restaurant is cozy with lovely views of the garden and the staff was friendly and efficient. Café Jardin is truly a gem of Corona del Mar.

Two of us brought our dear elderly friend to celebrate her 88th birthday for lunch at Sherman Gardens. I made an advance reservation and we were seated promptly at 11:30 am. We planned to have a leisurely lunch to chat and catch up and to enjoy the view of the gardens. After the server stopped by our table twice within a short time I told her we were in no rush and needed more time. She told me we had to order now before it got busy. I was surprised but did not want to disturb the happy mood at our table by saying anything. We ordered promptly, ate and left about 1:30 pm. Note: Only then did it begin to get crowded on the outside patio. I do not know if it was busy inside. I found her attitude disappointing and cold. I still tipped her 20% because I know how hard servers work having been one myself, but I consider her service poor.

It was a cloudy cool day so we didn’t get to enjoy outdoor seating in the garden which certainly changes the overall experience. The food was very good but I’m thinking a little overpriced. With lunch, coffee and dessert and tip was about $50 per... little pricy for lunch. That said, I would recommend and I will come again.

Food was good
Atmosphere was great, especially for a date
Service was mediocre
This place could easily compete with Farm House if they just put a little more thought into the operation

I really was glad that there was indoor dining as well as outdoor. The lighting and fireplace made it cozy . The tile work and art was lovely. Touring the gardens after lunch was an added bonus.

My friend and I had a wonderful time catching up on what has been going on in our lives. We sat outdoors and it started nice and all of a sudden the fog rolled in and it was a sight to see with all of the gardens and trees! We enjoyed this immensely. We ordered the trout which was perfectly cooked and served with al dente green beans and mashed potatoes. We ended with an apple tart and cappuccinos, all wonderful. Everything was perfect except for the young waitress who took an instant dislike to us because we asked what the soup de jour was. She rolled her eyes at us and threw her head back, like she could not believe our question! A young man then came over to help us order. She didn't check on us again until she brought us our bill. We said that we would like to see the dessert menu, again the eyes rolled. When we told her what we wanted she brought us the cappuccinos and literally banged them on the table. She then turned and left and I had to get up and find someone else to get us some sugar. I write this hoping management will take note and retrain this young lady. I loved the venue and I loved the food and everyone else we came into contact with was delightful. This is just a little glitch that needs to be handled.

The food is excellent and perfectly presented. the menu is not large but is suitable for most tastes. The ambiance is wonderful whether indoors or outside. The gardens are beautifully maintained year round and add an after meal treat for a relaxing stroll. This is a favorite venue for my wife and me to visit on special occasions.

The restaurant is charming, and the lunch selections were perfect for our group. We each had something different, and everyone was happy with their selection. The presentation of the food is as beautiful as the garden environment. This is a monthly gathering for us, and we talk and catch up on each other's lives. Our waiter was very conscious of this, and service was just right. The view of the gardens makes for a lovely setting.

Food was good but service not so. The waiter never came to refill our water glasses and could not keep track of who ordered what, even though it was a 3 course fixe prix menu and the restaurant not full.

I drove from North County San Diego taking the Coast Hwy part of the way. Spectacular views, wonderful weather, leisurely drive allowing for the stop and go traffic thru Dana Point, Laguna Beach, etc. My choice for lunch was the Trout - a rarely seen item on most menus - and was totally satisfied with the preparation, presentation and delicious flavor. The staff members were professional, courteous and friendly. The patio seating was perfection with a front & center view of the beautifully decorated Christmas Tree. A tour of the grand garden topped off the day for my guest & I. Can't wait to return to try some of the other enticing menu items.

I love Sherman Library and Gardens for the sheer natural beauty of the surroundings. Unfortunately the day we visited the restaurant had a problem with its gas ovens and could not serve the quiche which I️ was looking forward to.
I did have a ceasar type salad topped with a poached egg. The salad was very tasty though not a large enough portion.

Beautiful setting delicious food and very reasonably priced for quality of food. My only complaint was service was so slow we had to get up 3 times to get someone’s attention , we had to get up to also pour our refills for water ? It’s a shame they obviously need more help and try to serve the whole restaurant with the manager and one server . Still we left very satisfied and enjoyed our meal tremendously!!
