Beautiful food from Chef Pascal
Lovely patio seating in the gardens. Food was very good.
Lovely french cuisine in a beautiful setting of flowers and gardens. I postponed our mothers day celebration so that we could celebrate here. Glad we did. A little pricey but worth it.
The lunch was for my 5 grand daughters, and they were intrigued by the flavors, the surprises of the dishes, the surroundings, and the luxury of the foods. It was on the high end, price-wise, for me. We walked the gardens following our meal, and had a fantastic experience. It was a very memorable day. It is a beautiful setting. Sincerest compliments to the chef!
Celebrating my sister’s 80th Birthday!
As always, Pascal meets and exceeds our expectations!
The gardens are wonderful. Lunch was yummy. It's a beautiful venue for a nice So Cal day!
The only negative thing I will say is that - since the quiche was undercooked the last time we were there - we inquired about how it was prepared, which seemed to irritate our waiter. That seemed inappropriate since it was a reasonable question regarding the menu and prior experience. The quiche turned out nice and firm and perfect.
Mother’s Day brunch with my mother in law, my mom, and my partner. We loved the food, the atmosphere, and the service! We genuinely had a great time! The Trout & Salmon were our favorites!
I live this restaurant and the Gardens. I will miss Chef Pascal’s meals.
A serene spot nestled among flower beds overflowing with Spring's most showy blossoms, dining at Cafe Jardin feeds the eyes, stomach and soul. While the menu is limited, items are delicious and sufficient in size. For those wishing a quieter environment, tables are set back, still within sight of floral blooming beds, outside the side entrance of the restaurant. Definitely a glorious way to spend an afternoon.
The food was good, and the garden setting is exquisite.
We had a very nice time in a beautiful garden, food was very tasty, a bit too salty though. I loved the beet salad and my mom and sister both really enjoyed the free range chicken.
The service was a bit lacking, never asked what we would like to drink and dropped the ticket before offering dessert.
The shrimp Provençal was fabulous. The salmon as well as the chicken and mushroom crepe were a delight.
my beet salad was fresh and beautifully presented and the chicken and mushroom crepe was rich and decadent. We sat outside facing the garden so I was able to enjoy my surroundings while eating as well
Compliments to the chef! Outstanding menu choices and food delicious! Beautiful gardens and wonderful service! Absolutely perfect spot to have lunch on a lovely spring day! Will do it again soon! PC
Unique outdoor garden dining experience of highest quality.
It is always lovely and it was particularly lovely to get back to the gardens. Such a pleasure.
Felt a little rushed Wish they had told us ahead of time that we would have to order immediately the kitchen was closing.
Always an amazing experience in the garden setting. Love Pascal's menu options and the feeling of escaping to an oasis. Brought a visitor from North Carolina and she loved it too. I always bring guests or celebrate a friend's birthday here. Thanks for being there!
Everything was wonderful: from the ambiance, to the service, to the excellent food!
I loved the space. Nice distancing. Brunch had more lunch-type meals but they were still a good portion for the pre-fixe
Mom & I loved all the tasteful dining experience with the Spring flowers over flowing gardens adding to the day was wonderful
Such a beautiful setting, and fine French cuisine! We greatly appreciated a chance to meet the head chef, who strolled from table to table to make sure that his guests were enjoying themselves. He shared recipes, recommendations, and stories from his native Normandy.
Service was spotty. Although very polite, our server did not provide menus and was unsure of meal choices. Food was mediocre, certainly not up to the standards of past visits.
Cafe Jardin at Sherman Gardens has a lovely atmosphere, with wonderful food and perfect distancing to make for a lovely lunch
Gorgeous & cute cafe. Ratatouille and the French onion soup was great. Fresh bread. I wouldn’t order the beet salad again.
Food was delicious. Staff is friendly and courteous. The only thing strange was no one asked us if we wanted a drink. They did bring water which was what we wanted anyway, but I'm sure some guests want more than water. Would have been smart to ask
I’ve eaten here many times, and the food Always excellent. This occasion was not as good as previous times. They were over booked & harried. No table cloths, water in plastic cups, and they brought the wrong wine. The server seemed to have a lot of trouble opening the bottle and dropped the cork. I’m sure this is all about the post pandemic crush, but I will, regrettably, not be coming back for a while. Oh yes, and only one menu for the entire table. I’ve been to quite a few restaurants in the past weeks, and they all seem to be handling this better than Café Jardin.
Great surroundings and food
We have dined here before and keep returning -- need we say more?
Incredible ambiance. Our table was next to the fountain surrounded by beautiful flowers. We shared the charcuterie board and French onion soup, along with a bottle of wine. The food was excellent and the service friendly and professional. We noticed that fellow patrons were also enjoying a relaxing lunch on a beautiful Southern California day. We felt like we were in Tuscany or Provence. Highly recommend.
Server was not very friendly. Everything else was wonderful!
I had not been to Cafe Jardin or Sherman Gardens for years, but held positive memories of my last visit. Invited a friend for her birthday, and was looking forward to a quiet, beautiful ambiance, good food, and a lovely outing. When I arrived, I tried in vain to get into 4 of the entrances, but all were blocked off except the one at the front. As I attempted to walk through the front entrance, a voice came out of nowhere telling me to stop. Turned out a woman was hidden in a little box with a glass window (small hole in the window like the old fashioned movie theaters), and she insisted that I pay my $5 to get in. I did so, and later found out that my friend had arrived moments before me, paid for us both, and described me to the lady so that I would not have to duplicate payment (the woman said nothing about that to me). We were taken to the only available table, tucked back in a corner with not much of a view of the gardens, and the noise level was high (LOTS of ladies lunching and talking, and tables all close together). I had remembered the tables being spread out more throughout the garden, much quieter and more peaceful. The server came before we even had a moment to look at our menus; she was not friendly or helpful. We went ahead and placed the order, which came a little too quickly, and the best way to describe the meal is to say that it seemed more like cafeteria food. We both ordered the quiche, which seemed like 90% cheese, and a mediocre lettuce salad with some grated cheese on top. I ate less than half of my meal. All in all, it was a big disappointment. Will not return anytime soon.
Excellent food, relaxing atmosphere, and absolutely gorgeous surroundings. What could be better?
It is very good place for food as well as environment.
Such a nice place! Recommend the coq au vin and creme brulee!
Took my mom for a belated Mother's Day (2020).
First time visiting the gardens and restuarant.
Wonderful, French inspired menu, delicious opera cake, nice wines by the glass and perfect ambience.
Excellent service- highly recommend
As always, lunch at Cafe Jardin was a very enjoyable experience. Great food and service in a beautiful setting!
A perfectly beautiful day and location. It was like coming back to see an old friend and we’re so happy to see the upkeep has been taken care of. And that Pascal remains with Sherman Gardens.
Always a great experience. Great food and lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
