Cafe Degas is always a delightful experience! Quintessential New Orleans food and ambiance. I’m a local and always bring out of town guests to dine here.
Atmosphere is great, the service was great and the Onion Soup was fantastic.
The bartender was exceptional!
A positively delightful brunch experience! The service was so warm and welcoming. Brady was fantastic! The food was so wonderful, and the ambience so charming. We will definitely be back!
Our waiter (who's name escapes me- he is the one that makes the soaked cherries used for the old fashioned--which are fire..) was amazing! wonderful suggestions through and through. I highly recommend cafe degas for a date night or intimate gathering with close friends or family, the ambiance is just magnetic. The food was wonderful- you can tell the chef works with what is fresh in the area/seasonaly. They timed everything pretty well- the only ONLY issue we had was in between courses other waiters would bring the food with the table full of dirty dishes/no room. but besides this one small thing- everything was great! Get the lamb...and the meat/cheese board...
Recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! Food was exceptional, service excellent and atmosphere wonderful. My wine pairing was perfect!
I thought it has missed a step since my last visit. The onion soup was weak> and the Fish portion was small.
Excellent! Great service from Sebastian. Love the mussels.
Love going to Cafe Degas! Makes me feel I’m back in Paris!❤️
First time here. Love! Food, service, atmosphere. Will be back!!
Front patio covered is cramped and crowded. Servers all pleasant but not to be found after meal arrived
Excellent service and meal. Unfortunately, a massive storm took the power out before we finished, but it’s still one of my favorites.
Food is consistently very good. Atmosphere always pleasant.
Didn’t get served after 20 minutes of seating and after trying to get a waitress. Very disappointing.
Food and service were great. Usually when Notifying celebrating birthday, you get dessert. Nothing was mentioned. Also, after overhearing server at another table that Thursdays was a discount on wine, I asked server and she said oh yes it’s 30 percent off. We were not informed about this, however did buy a bottle to go with30 percent off.
Food excellent. Service (Brady) EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD!!
Perfection as always!! LOVED the trout —perfectly cooked and our server was fun and adorable. We were there for parents anniversary and he made them feel special.
My wife and I enjoyed an anniversary dinner of good food in a casual atmosphere filled with romantic ambience. We shared appetizers that included a pate plate and escargot. For entrees I had the hangar steak cooked perfectly at medium rare while my wife was a bit disappointed that the rack of lamb ordered medium was underdone but tasty nonetheless. Add in two bottles of wine moderately priced and we were plenty full for less than $200 plus tip. It was past 9:30pm and thus the Cafe was out of creme brûlée. Server was great with pleasant conversation to end a very nice dining experience. We’ll bring our two teenagers next visit and skip the wine at a similar cost.
Burnt food. Poor service. Was told it was authentic French restaurant-NOT! Terrible place, too bad for our first experience in New Orleans!
Cafe Degas is one of the better values I have come across. The food was all delicious and the portion sizes are generous. The setting is rustic and very different from most modern places which was a wonderful change. The flavors were classic French and the execution was excellent.
Fabulous and Outstanding
I have been to Degas many times, and this was one of my tippy top experiences there. It was literally perfect. I have never cleaned my app, entree, and dessert like that before! Service, food, and ambiance (as always) was superb. One of my favorite restaurants, and I am lucky because it is just up the road. Also, bc Covid, quality has understandably been inconsistent across the board. Degas, however, does not suffer from this. Consistent as ever!
Our waitress brought 4 appetizers at once. That was our whole meal. The pasta was luke warm. This used to be our favorite restaurant.
We have always found Cafe Degas to be a top choice for us over what is many decades now. Never been disappointed.
I have always enjoyed dining at Café Degas but my brunch experience fell short of the dining experiences I have had before. My friend very much enjoyed her order of mussels followed by the brunch crepe. I ordered Eggs Benedict and will definitely not do that again. The Hollandaise was thin and only mildly flavorful. The English muffins were woefully over cooked and hard around the edges. I had trouble cutting through with a knife. The ham/Canadian bacon slice was almost see through and again, so overcooked. A disappointing meal for me.
Superb! Lively atmosphere, delicious authentic French cuisine, excellent wine and top notch service! Highly recommend.
We always love Cafe Degas. It was as good as always!
This is, without question, my absolute favorite restaurant in New Orleans.
This was excellent, classic French cuisine prepared with care and quality ingredients. In a city where most French food is a fusion of creole/Cajun (which is also great) — it was so nice to find a classic French restaurant that brought me back to Paris. Best moules frites I have ever had, escargot was amazing, and the duck confit is a must try. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was perfect. The ambiance is so cute too! Cannot wait to return.
Lovely as always. Beautiful food and excellent service…the best neighborhood gem our city as to offer. Don’t skip out on the lemon ice box pie. Actually, just order one of every dessert to cover all the bases!
It was very warm inside and the food was just ok.
Our food at Cafe Degas was excellent, but the portions were on the small side. Wine list was good without being too expensive. Service was good, I had to call the server only once. Tables are a bit too close, you have to talk over your neighbors, so the whole restaurant is noisy. Parking is on the street, but space was easy to find. The "open table" menu is not particularly good valve - essentially you get a free desert - you are better to choose from the good a la Carte menu.
Great love the tree in the restaurant
Our favorite restaurant, we come from all parts of the city and beyond to meet here. The muscles with fries are outstanding.
Ambience is fun - food was excellent - we have gone here regularly for years, and we are delighted to see it roar back after the Pandemic shut downs and adjustments.
Great dining experience
Service was great , along with the food and ambiance!
