We had a table downstairs. The kitchen door was propped open and we hear plates being dropped a manager screaming at a worker for 10 minutes. The Cacio et Pepe was the worst I have ever eaten

Our first dinner out in London, we ate at an establishment across the street from Cacio & Pepe near our hotel. We noticed a full seating at C&P, great outdoor space, and a splendid menu — including gluten-free options for my wife. So we made a reservation and eagerly awaited our meal. Two nights later, we arrived, got seated, ordered, and our appetizers were wonderful. But what happened next defied belief. - following our order and receiving our appetizers, our server never stopped at our table again. We saw her about 30 minutes later serving other tables, but she never stopped at ours. - we finally got our main courses 70 minutes after being seated, while three couples who arrived after us got their main courses and were being served dessert. The explanation we got: the gluten free pasta required 15 minutes to prepare. We said it had been more than an hour, and the manager said she would go and check our arrival time to verify. - we got no water refills - we started into our main courses, which tasted fine. But I saw what looked like the stem of a leaf in my cacio & pepe pasta. It turned out to be a small wire, about 3/8 inch in length. We stopped another server to show her, and she sent out the manager. The bizarreness of what happened after that belies belief. She saw the wire and immediately said, "Oh, I know what that is." She explained it was part of the tool used to shape the "parmesan bowl" in which my pasta was served. "It's good you didn't eat it," she said. No apology. No "I'm so sorry that's in there." She just said she would notify the kitchen. She returned to the table 5-10 minutes later and noticed I hadn't touched the dish since. "Are you finished?" she asked. "Yes," I said. "I lost my appetite." Still no apology. She later brought our dessert menus. We said we didn't want dessert. "There's nothing left for you to do," she said. "You can leave. You don't have to pay." So we left. Most disappointing experience in a restaurant I've ever had.

The staff was really nice and spent time chatting with us related to our highlights in London. A great experience. We saw a British actor from Love Actually on the terrace.

Excellent dinner, wine & service as always. One of our favourite restaurants in the neighbourhood. The poached pear and barratta starter was delicious along with our pasta mains and of course the tiramisu. We will be back again soon.

Dined here today, and had a wonderful meal and experience. The food was great, and the staff was even better. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, with very personal and professional service. On the drinks side my wife enjoyed the house Prosecco and the Dark and Stormy cocktail I had was one of the best I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

29 March 2025- Dinner at Cacia & Pepe. Food, service and ambiance is very good. Would definitely recommend. Ground floor has bar seating, plus two tables for two (one table is high chairs) one table is standard seating. Other seated tables are in the basement (no natural light).
