Ambience was nice, modern space tall ceiling with some quirky artwork.
Service was good, attentive and knowledgable server.
Popcorn as opposed to bread with your drinks was nice and a bit different from the norm.
We both had burgers with fry’s that were good but just good for a burger in the USA is not good enough.
What really got me was 2 burgers, 1 coke, a beer and a glass of ok red wine, $75.
Burger needs ( to use an American word) to be awesome. It wasn’t and then the price so left feeling a bit ripped off.
Lively, fun place. Feels alive. Food & service was great. Good place for a girls night out, but will also bring my husband to check it out. Will return.
We loved the Crispy duck entree, the popcorn and the wonderful service.
Brooklyn Girl overall is good always. The only issue we have is that there's hardly a fish selection on menu once in a while they have a Branzino that is amazing, but that's rare. I guess we just go there too often!
This was exactly what we were looking for. Nice atmosphere, good food, not very noisy, a great waiter (Dave, I think?). We had a corner table and were able to hold a nice conversation with friends, which is what we we looking for.
Juan was very attentive. Thank you
Second and probably last time. Service is terrible. Training needed
This is one of my favorite places to celebrate special occasions. The wait staff are very friendly and always smiling, even if they are a little harried at times. I prefer the summer menu because it has more seafood selections, but the rotating seasonal menus keep things interesting. Definitely try this place if you are visiting San Diego or have friends visiting.
Loved the evening
Ambiance, asthetics and good were great! Our server/waiter was a little abrupt. He took me drink order and didn’t take my friends. Then he took my friends food order and not mine. The service experience was strange. Overall the experience was good. I would definitely give it another try
Nice place with a local feel. Understated hip. Tremendous oyster bar if you like oysters. Cute neighborhood and nice place to hang with friends. Nice wines by the glass-- overall a place with good food and good people.
This was my first visit and my husband and I went for a late valentine’s dinner. Service was on point! We ordered the special menu salad (pear, fig, and greens) which was sooo good! We also had the roasted carrots - delicious curry sauce. For our main dishes we had the shrimp and asparagus risotto (special menu) and the steak. Carrot cake finished us off and was fabulous. Ooh can’t forget the little popcorn appetizer to start...it’s free and made me so happy while we waited for our food!
Valentine’s Day. The duck was excellent. The oysters were fabulous and the chocolate bread pudding dessert was wonderful
Great food. Seriously great food. Eat there. Really.
It's a great place to go, there's ample choices on the menu, each dish is portioned well. The service is outstanding, very friendly. The atmosphere is classy but casual. I've gone here for special events, now a date, all memorable.
Great food and great venue for all occasions
Really disappointed with this place.
Had reservations for 5:45 Sunday evening the last night of Restaurant Week. The place was a bit busy but we walked past at least 5-6 empty tables. One of the drinks we ordered was a Cafe Mocha with a shot of Kaluah. Our server said he would try and get it but according to them “the last time we were kinda busy coffee drinks were taking 30 minutes”. My drink is Scotch up so no problem there. The coffee arrived first. We were surprised but all good at this point. The appetizers came out about 20 minutes later, you know soup and salad take awhile to perpare.
Meanwhile, the restaurant is now full and we were waiting for entree’s. And we waited, and waited, and waited more. The server came over and explained “unfortunately your order went in after some larger parties so it’s taking awhile “.
This really didn’t sit well since I always thought restaurants were first come first served. They said it was so busy because of Restaurant Week and “everyone is getting three courses”.
We left without having dinner about 7:30.
I can’t say what the problem was but my bet is they can’t handle the pressure of “SDRW”.
Brooklyn Girl is one of the most
Consistent restaurants I frequent. Love the food, atmoshphere, local, involved passionate owners and more! And, it is t too loud
In searching possible options for Restaurant Week stumbled across Brooklyn Girl.
The atmosphere, decor, and layout is great. Very spacious with high ceilings, yet there is a strong cozy and intimate vibe. There were references to New York/Brooklyn throughout that were subtle and blended with modern and almost a shabby chic aesthetic, i.e. wood desktop tables, desk chairs with spray painted PS 16 on the chair back and classic subway tile in different places.
Our waiter was exceptionally efficient, attentive, and nice. Instead of bread or chips each table get a bowl of popcorn. We ignored the popcorn because we were slightly confused by its uniqueness, but more so because we were engrossed in catching up with our friend and the details of their pending move.
The menu had several appeal dishes which peaked my interest more than the prie fix of restaurant week. My partner landed on the spaghetti with a meatball. Looked comforting and elegant upon arrival and i managed to negotiate a try, lol, melt in your mouth. Our friend opted for the salmon which came on a bed of either red rice or quinoa, we never did figure it out, and this sauce that they raved about.
I had my eye on the shrimp pasta dish. Very delicious with panchetta and a wine lemon sauce that was tart and devine, my biggest disappointment though was that i felt i had to deep dive to locate the shrimp. There were shrimp pieces and not whole shrimp, that was the disappointment. For the cost of the dish, the shrimp ratio was insufficient
Back to the popcorn. So dinner ends and our plates are attentively cleared by the amicable staff and as we deliberate dessert we end up trying the popcorn. WoW. What were we thinking to not have tried it sooner. It was flavor burst of joy in the mouth.
I would definitely return as i truly liked it and would love to try several of their dishes and likely do brunch.
Food was delicious and some dishes were pretty original alongside some classics. Portions are gigantic so the 3-course restaurant week menu was a little too much but leftovers were just as good the next day. Will go again!
Terrific as usual. Stellar service, delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be back!
Food was great and we enjoyed a friends get together experience.
Had never been at Brooklyn Girl for breakfast.
Excellent food and service. The service is extraordinary
Brooklyn Girl is one of my very favorite restaurants in San Diego, and a perfect place to get together with friends. The food and drinks are creative and delicious, service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is lively but not noisy. This was my first time for brunch (usually go for happy hour or dinner) and everything was excellent. You can’t go wrong!
The delicious and creative food and the owners Victoria and Michael make this a place to go back to time and time again.
Our regular spot always a favorite
Great service throughout. Food was poor, overdone with toppings and cheese
The Owners, Michael and Victoria are warm, welcoming, and friendly. Their staff are very friendly and great servers. The food is always excellent and we like the variations.
Truly what a Gem of a restaurant. Food outstanding, best Duck ever Great Service!
I was here for brunch a couple years ago and it was fabulous. This time I was underwhelmed. Food was OK, not great. Service was abysmal. Over a half hour to get drinks which arrived after our food. They were short staffed and tried hard, but they could have called in some extra help.
Brunch with a long-standing friend that I don’t get to see often enough.
When you’ve got to do it right this is the place.
Great variety of fresh food combinations, unique drinks, and appropriately attentive service.
Brooklyn Girl continues to be one of our favorites, well worth the drive from North County. Its extensive and varied menu never disappoints and the food has always been consistently good. We think they have the best pork chop in town, and we appreciate the very reasonable wine prices.
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and friendliness of the owner and servers. I’ve had issues in the past and my wife and I decided to give them another chance...and they delivered. Food and ambiance was also outstanding
We came to see and hear a band that a friend was the drummer. Decided to have dinner and dessert. The salad and pizza were great, not so much the dessert. Enjoyed the live music. The bad was great with a good choice of music. Nice place for special occasion.
Crab Cake Benedict was good. Quite rich. The smashed potatoes were also great
I can’t say enough nice things about this place! We had a group of 6 people with diverse tastes and everyone found something they loved and enjoyed their food and drinks. Dave was friendly and had great recommendations. I will add this to my roster of places to visit with out of town guests.
Uninspiring boring tasteless
There was no wait, the food was good, and the service was great. The only thing that I could complain about is that they did not have any substitutions for vegetarians. They had soyrizo on the menu, but would not let me use it as a substitute. So that was kind of annoying, but the food was good without it.
I’d go back!
Fantastic food, and friendliest of service, from the waiter, bar tender and manager.
