They never disappoint!! Great mimosas and food.
Had an impromptu birthday celebration which the servers help with.. delightful!
A charming special spot with breathtaking views. My favorite is the eggs ipanema.
It was such a pleasant surprise! Every dish we order was fantastic and so tasteful! And the staffs were very attentive and friendly. We definitely be back. Thank yoh
Got the coast toast, potatoes and sausage. Potatoes a little too spicy for me but I don’t like a lot of spice to begin with. Great service. Coffee and water glasses were always filled. Can’t pass up the view! Parking is slim but there’s lot of garages and street parking if you’re willing to walk around.
It was just ok. The food was yummy, but the staff wasn't very attentive or efficient.
went for our daughters birthday & always happy to celebrate at this restaurant!
we live in long beach & love the drive knowing the food is awesome, wait staff is awesome too!
Our New Year’s Day Breakfast was wonderful! Our server was attentive. I had the Resolution Bowl & Chai tea latte, both delicious. It is a small place do tables kind of close.
It was great! We ended up being almost 45 min late for our reservation due to traffic and they were able to keep our reservation for us. They were very accommodating! Food was excellent can’t wait to go back!
A wonderful dinner at one of my favorite places. It had been years since I had been there, and it was just as memorable this time!! We had the filet mignon which was so tender and flavorful. Also had the burrata platter which included figs and prosciutto and was just delicious. The service was excellent and also so personable. The ambience is shabby chic comfy even though the restaurant faces one of the most scenic ocean views in one of San Diego's most prestigious communities. Brockton Villa makes you feel right at home.
I had not been to Brockton in quite awhile but their Coast Toast was such a delicious experience, it was first choice when a friend suggested we go to breakfast. We both ordered Coast Toast and were sad to find it had diminished significantly ... no longer fluffy and hot, it came dry, warm and even the orange flavor negligible! Plus, barely sprinkled with powdered sugar and no butter on side! Our 2 sides of crisp bacon were like jerky .... very tough and greasy. Even though our server was very friendly and asked, neither of us said anything ... trying to enjoy time with friend in spite of food. It was a busy day (we used OpenTable and were pleased to be seated right on time with window view as requested), and perhaps if we'd chosen a different entree it would have been different; but we didn't, so I would not recommend Brockton Villa to anyone.
Lugar increible, comida deliciosa y servicio excepcional. Gracias Darren, volveremos pronto.
The food is always good and the view is great. Unfortunately there is construction next door going on so that makes it kind of noisy and parking brutal.
An excellent choice, great place if you are walking down la jolla shores, beautiful view and the food is great! Service not so much the restaurant was empty and the staff wasnt seatting anyone we had a reservation and it took them long to give us our table.
Definitely use Open Table! I arrived with no reservation and was put on a 30 minute wait list. Open table had a reservation available immediately, so made it and was seated!
snooty waiters, nothing was possible, overpriced food
The food and the view at this restaurant are wonderful. Creative menu choices and great quality and taste. Two warnings: First, be aware there are quite a few stairs to climb to the second-floor restaurant. The website never mentions this. We were there with a 95- and 98- year old couple. Since the law requires ADA compliance, we rarely ask about challenges for elderly people. Turns out, this is an historic property and therefore exempt from the ADA requirements. It would be great if they say that on the website. Secondly, there is very little parking near the restaurant. If you have never been to Brockton Villa before, you wouldn't know this. Again, with elderly people, this is a real problem. It would just be nice to know the situation ahead of time.
Disappointed. I have been going to Brockton Villa since it opened years ago. Not sure what has changed. Extremely mediocre food. My soup was microwaved and barely warm. Salad looked old and thrown together. Service was good and the staff was very nice. Very few people in the restaurant tonight. Not sure if it was because of the time of the year or what. I truly hope this is an isolated incident.
Wonderful historic venue with an excellent breakfast and wonderful service. The breakfast burrito and the homemade hash hit the stop. Also the Keith Richards Coffee will keep you going for 24 hours.
The food was adequate, the service OK, and the price was high for what we got.
The chairs are extremely uncomfortable. It was very odd to be so physically uncomfortable while trying to enjoy a meal. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like that before. What’s most strange to me is how they could not know how bad their chairs are. Do their workers and managers not sit in them? Simply unacceptable.
The view was amazing. Having brunch on the terrace overlooking the ocean makes the experience even more special.
The dinner menu is relatively brief, but what you get is very, very good. Apparently the chef is challenged by placing more items on the menu?
Wonderful food with an amazing setting/view of the water - we even watched a whale swim by!!!!!
As always, the coast toast was amazing!
We had been here once before for brunch and remembered it fondly. The food this time was unfortunately not served hot, really not even warmish. I’m sure the recipes are wonderful and the food would’ve been delicious had it all been hot or warm. But truly everything was cold. :( we probably will not be back.
The food was ok- better options in land. We chose it for the view, but didn’t realize the smell from the seals would waft by- it is also in the shade, so chilly off season
We were very hopeful that this would be a great experience at the end of a scenic drive along the coast. However, the ocean view advertised was less than thrilling as we were seated on a porch that was enclosed with significantly weathered clear vinyl screens, leaving us to look out "as through a glass darkly." The tuna in the fish tacos was overdone, while the swordfish was bland in its preparation.
Major construction and big trucks with no stop noise pollution
It was unfortunate! I wouldn’t schedule if I knew about this awful dusty noisy construction next door!
Embarrassing when I brought people from overseas to enjoy La Jolla
Great view. Slow / inattentive service. Decent food.
El Coast Toast espectacular
We love this little gem in La Jolla! So worth the drive and finding parking. make sure you set your reservation on Open Table, it is busy for breakfast and brunch!
Every time we come to San Diego, we always make sure to drive to La Jolla for this amazing place. Must visit and try!!
Great food I love the view of the ocean
Food was good but very poor service. We booked in advance and noted several open tables ouside on balcony with ocean view. Servers rudely told us they could not accommodate us but never explained why. We never saw any guests sitting there. Disappointing as we came from out of town and were told about great views.
Fantastic view, fantastic food! We had reservations for two but at last minute had an additional couple join making it four, staff accommodated happily with no issues!
Nice place to eat at the La Jolla Cove. Great view, good food, and reasonably priced.
It was very nice and the food was excellent. We were just bothered by many flies and the smell from the seals was not very desirable but other than that great spot!
Overall our meal experience was good. However, the lobster roll was rather bland. There wasn’t a roll, only a piece of bread and it was more like tuna salad.
The cioppino was very good though.
The biggest disappointment were the drinks as the restaurant only has beer and wine.
Overall a great place to eat and view is fantastic
