Bristol Seafood Grill – Downtown KC, Mo Ratings and Reviews
After planning a get together, I had requested a quiet table. I was assured at the time when I followed up with Bristol Seafood Grille that a quaint table would be available. We were seated in the bar area. When I talked to the host, the comment was “oh well”. Bar area was very loud and made it difficult to talk. I would NOT return based on that alone. Our server was awesome and the food was good.
Was a great place for dinner before a concert at The Sprint Center. Was disappointed with my asparagus... about a third of it was too "woody" to eat. My husband's roasted potatoes came out cold & dry. My salmon & his red snapper were both fabulous, along with the chardonnay I ordered.
Everything cooked to perfection! Between the biscuits, wine, appetizers and main course, we must have had five or six different servers presenting at the table. In sum: very attentive staff - even on a busy Friday evening! This establishment is a staple in the Power & Light district!
We've been going to Bristol for almost 40 years - another wonderful experience - one hiccup, quickly and graciously resolved by our server, Anderson, without a hitch - wish this restaurant was closer to our residence in LSMO as the Happy Hour is really outstanding as well. Get the Red Onion Jazz Babies back and start rocking the house like it used to be @ the old location on the Country Club Plaza!
Great seafood, nice waitress, other servicers cleaned while we ate and were rude about it. When asked what time the restaurant closed, he was condescending with a reply of "uhm idk make yourself at home, it's Valentine's Day" sounded bitter to me and gave me a crappy look. And then the lights came on it was a nice experience 😒.
Valentine’s Day was hectic. There was a small wait even though we had a reservation.. understandable. We ordered some excellent lobster bisque. We ordered a meal.. It took a while but our waitress was so nice and explained it was delivered to the ring table, the manager was excellent.. and they took care of us. I’m excited to go back during non-hectic hours!!
The food was excellent. The only thing I will have to complain about is the wait time to sit down. We had reservations at 8:00 pm and did not get seated until around 9:00 pm. It was Valentine’s Day so I understand that it’s going to be busy. But I still think management could have done a better job of planning ahead for people who had reservations. What’s the point in making a reservation if you have to wait an hour once you get there?
Made a reservation on OpenTable about a month ago. We arrived 10 minutes early and was told they were 20 minutes behind. We waited at the bar. After 25 minutes I went to check and was told it would be another 20 minutes. In all it took 45 minutes to be seated, with reservation. We were seated at a booth right next to the entrance to the dining area. They were so crowded that guests waiting for a table were standing at our booth. So, we had people’s backside right at our booth. They had to move each time the waitress came to our table. It was ridiculous. I even made the reservation way in advance to avoid this type of thing. Not well run from that stand point. We live 2 blocks away. They could have just called us when our table was ready instead of crowding us in there. Won’t be returning. When I’m paying $150 for a dinner date I just expect more.
Everything as far as the food and service was at the standard I'm used to at Bristol. Only issue I had was that our reservation was for 7:15 and we weren't able to be seated until around 8:20, after we showed up early. But it was Valentine's Day, so maybe they overbooked.
Overall I was not impressedfrom the moment I arrived. It All started when the valet told me that I couldn’t park my truck in the middle isle of the parking lot as I was to long, so I obliged and worked my way around the parking lot to find another spot as he would continue to take and park the truck he was in in the spot I was just told I could not park in along with seeing another valet park a truck next to him. They also had the lot so packed that there was no sense of organization and no reason to follow the lines as they were just trying to get as many cars in there as possible leaving it impossible for any pedestrian to park at all. Next I had a reservation at 7 and waited for over an hour to be seated finally at roughly 820. Once we were getting seated, they offered us a table that was being hovered around by people waiting in what I think was the lobby, so I kindly asked for another table, which was shortly accommodated to us. After being seated we were greeted by our server, which was the only thing I’d say that we didn’t have a problem with. It took forever to get our food, approximately 45 minutes, then the food was bland. I understand that it’s a seafood place, but not being a fan of it though my other half loves it, I got the filet mignon. There was no flavor what so ever to the steak at all unless it was the burnt edges on the one side of the steak. There was someone making rounds with biscuits throughout the evening which made it to our table twice, but was very rude to us and the server as he was in the middle of asking a question and then interrupts like he was not even there. We did try the creme brûlée, which was not as advertised. No raspberries anywhere to be seen. After the meal and everything was said and done, we felt rushed to leave so they’d be able to seat another group at the table, though we had been there for a total of what was nearly 4 hours. Overall it was not a great experience and I would not be able to refer coming here to any.
We spent Valentines dinner at Bristol last year and it was delicious. This year the food not only took an incredibly long time to get, it was awful. The parmesian potatoes tasted microwaved, the scallops tasted like rubber, cold shrimp, and mashed potatoes were gummy like glue. It was 112$ for a meal that I couldn’t finish, nor did I take home because it was so gross. I will never return. I was absolutely dissatisfied with our valentines and embarrassed I took my date there. I would have sent all of the food back if our waitress checked on us more than once. Never again.
Servings are small for the price. The fish of the day comes grilled and ours tasted like they were burnt. Not just smoky flavor, but truly burnt. The lobster mac and cheese is $4 extra as a side and it didn't have enough lobster in it to warrant the price increase. The waiter offered to bring out new fish that was seared instead of grilled, which was good, but he said "Sometimes mesquite flavor is too much for some people“. No, burnt flavor is too much. It had nothing to do with mesquite flavoring. The prices are very high for what you actually get. I will pay any amount of money for a great meal. That's what we were looking forward to. We didn't get that. The best things were the drinks.
It was fine, but didn't live up to the reputation. We had dinner at 5:45, and they were already out of the two side items we wanted to have with our meals. That seemed early to be out of menu items. They weren't particularly busy, so it's hard to imagine why they had run out. Our server was sufficiently attentive. However, it took more than 30 minutes from ordering to the arrival of our meals. Overall, there wasn't anything terribly "wrong," just several missteps leading me to decide I don't need to go back.
This visit was average. One of my favorite things about the Bristol brunch is the oysters and usually they don't disappoint. This go around, it was as though they had pre-shucked a lot ahead. They were a bit dry and all the "liquor" was drained out. The omelet and meat carving station needs two people. The poor guy was busy making 3 omelets and it was hard for him to also cut meat for those who wanted that instead of an omelet. The warm entrees weren't well kept up with this go around. I went back thru and several things were empty and there didn't seem to be a lot of attention to preventing that. I will say, that for the first time, the lobster mac n cheese seemed to actually have lobster in it! Often there are barely traces but this time was different so I appreciate that. We will likely go back, but won't be in a hurry. The bottomless mimosa special was nice though they are heavier on the OJ. With the brunch price having climbed to $30 now, I just expected it to be spot on all fronts otherwise I can go to several other places for a lot less and get a mediocre experience.
My wife and I were in town for a conference and had heard good things about Bristol. We were not disappointed! Our appetizer, meal and service overall were outstanding! We had the Fried Cauliflower and it was delicious. My wife had the Lobster Bisque and I had the Clam Chowder which we both would highly recommend. She had the Charred Ahi Tuna and I had the Grilled Swordfish. Her Tuna was tender and full of flavor and my Swordfish was cooked perfectly.
Overall we would definitely recommend Bristol Seafood and will definitely be going back!
I have been to your restaurant on many occasions. I was disappointed with this visit. I always order the same thing every time. The seafood mixed grill. I do not like Salmon, so you have always substituted with another item. I was told by the server that she couldn't do that. She would have to charge me $20.00 extra for the substitution. My asparagus was cold and tough so I only had a few bites. My friend does not eat carbs. She asked for green beans instead of potatoes. So, her asparagus was eliminated and she received green beans and mashed potatoes. There was an employee visiting from Chicago and he kept talking to the table behind us and he was VERY LOUD. Not a great experience.
Very good experience. Combination of all factors was very good. No complaints, will go again, but have had slightly better service, food quality and service elsewhere for similar or slightly less money, so that’s why I rated 4 instead of 5 stars. I won’t hesitate to eat at The Bristol again!
My wife and I wanted a nice meal in a nice atmosphere before a performance at Kauffman Center for the Performance Arts. It was a Friday night in 'prime time'. The valet server was pleasant and the service was prompt and reasonable. The service at the restaurant was excellent. The food was prepared perfectly. We did not have dessert because we were headed to the show although the choices seemed absolutely delicious! The restaurant is in a great location and the night was perfect! It is definitely on the pricey side although it was worth it for the evening. Definitely recommended dining experience.
