We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and hadn't been to Brigantine Poway before. We like quiet restaurants and this one fit the bill. The menu was interesting, the food good, and the service personal without being intrusive.
I like the Brig but it is not a foodie type restaurant. Great for families , happy hour and meet ups. I see it as on the scale of Claim Jumper & Outback. Look elsewhere for fine romantic dinning.
Hot entrees arrive before we finished our salads. Not pleasant when rushed.
We celebrated one of our group member's birthday by surprising her. There were 11 of us all together. Fortunately, they put us in the back room where we didn't have to worry about bothering other customers at least for awhile. LOL! We can be rather loud. We had a great time and we really did surprise our friend. The Brigantine Poway is a great place to host a group.
We were seated near the kitchen and staff yelled “door” each time they passed by. In addition there was loud kitchen noise. It was disappointing.
We had a great experience. Our server Taylor made our dinner most enjoyable. Food was great too
Food was good. Very disappointed with lack of acknowledgement of my father’s birthday, in spite of the tag and comments made in the Open Table reservation.
The food was just okay, nothing to write home about. I felt a bit expensive for what was delivered. My date really enjoyed her food. It wasn't that busy, but the waitress still forgot things like bread and water. I might go back if my date insists. Otherwise, probably not.
Everything was great! Thanks, Bill, for treating us so well!!!
It was a birthday lunch for me and my friend Cecilia. Service was great, and so was the food. I recommend the halibut plate. We were given a free birthday ice cream cake with two candles on it. Very nice touch.
I would give food a five except I ordered a beet salad with Kale. I got a bowl of kale with 4 beet slices. Not at all what I expected. I won’t order it again. I loved everything else!
Our waitress was fantastic and very personable. She only works on Monday and I can't remember her name.
Everything was great. Bill the waiter makes a huge difference. Last time we went, we did not have good service at all. Bill has been there quite awhile and gives great service. Been going here 20 years
The food was fantastic; I had a crabcake appetizer that was to die for. Lots of crab in it, and it rested on a yummy bed of cole slaw. The steak was cooked perfectly to order. And you don't want to miss the Mud Pie dessert. We had stellar service - friendly and attentive. The lights are low here, kind of a romantic atmosphere. It was a lovely evening all around, and I'd recommend this restaurant!
Worst tacos ever (which makes up most of their menu). Soggy, poorly constructed and flavors that did not go together. French fries were under-cooked. Calamari strips were clearly previously frozen. Very disappointing food for what seemed like an enticing menu. Was literally afraid I was going to be sick after from the frozen seafood.
very good food, good srver, reasonably priced. Always enjoyed the place.
We love this restaurant since we discovered it several years ago, the food quality is always consistent and service maintains excellences! This time was my husband’s birthday dinner, by end the server brought him a huge Chocolate ice cream birthday cake with a candle, four of us hardly finished it, I mean it is three times more than what we usually expected a free dessert. Happy ending!
Always good food and good service. Has been our "go to" restaurant for special occasions for many years.
Keep up the great work, service and food. I think the restrooms need attention, it was clean but the faucet was not working and availability of soap.
The Saturday noon time menu is much too limited. No pastas, no raw oysters and such. The decor is casino-like and not consistent with a “seafood” restaurant.
We had a wonderful dinner. Two old friends who don’t see each other often so we wanted somewhere quiet enough to carry on a conversation and Brigantine was perfect for that! The service was excellent. I couldn’t decide if I wanted a mojito or a margarita and the server said the bartender on duty made the best mojitos in town and she was absolutely correct!! Best mojito I’ve ever had! Our meals were cooked to perfection. All in all an extremely pleasant dinner and the value for what we paid was exceptional.
My parents were in town and I decided to come here. Orders the crab cake appetizer for 14.95. Received a small crab cake on a huge bed of coleslaw. Cravcake was over cooked and not worth 15. Should have been one or two more at that size and price! Menu selection was very small and seemed like less seafood than land food! All meals were bland and one was overcooked. Won't be going back.
Our server, Sydney was a joy to have.
We will return.
The swordfish was dry.
I had the special of the day it was Halibut. I think it was overpriced.
Been going for years and still wonderfully enjoyable and excellent food
My husband, sister and I ate here. I was expecting it to be busier on a Friday night...it was pretty quiet in the restaurant...the bar was busy. They did a great job...everyone enjoyed their dinners...roasted salmon for two of us, lobster chef salad for the other. Great bottle of wine too. Server was great...very attentive without being intrusive. We like going to the Brigantine in Poway!
I have been to Brigantine's in La Mesa many times, awesome every time. I live near Poway and thought I'd give theirs a try. Showed up for reservations at 6:30. Slow service throughout meal (restaurant not very busy). Meal described as being on a bed of parmesan risotto and broccolini. Came served over rice pilaf and sauteed green beans. Sounds petty I know, but the quality of sides fell way short of expectations. $365 for four people eating and drinking a couple drinks each, service and food simply did not equal price and previous experiences with Brigantine's. I'll stick with and recommend the La Mesa location.
Good seafood place wish get had more lobster options too
Nice restaurant, active bar crowd in expansive bar area. Dining area was average and service average also. Food was good and promptly delivered. Would not be on my top list of area restaurants but ok.
Service was terrible. We have been going here over 20 years, and it’s always been our go to place for a great meal and service. Not this time. Waitress started out ok, and after that it went south. Asked us if we would like bread, we said yes, and never seen her again until entree showed up. No water refill and only asked once if we would like another drink.
During our dinner a small child and got very sick and the smell was horrible. I got up to find someone to help the family and no one in sight. Eventually a young man showed up to clean. We warned him about the table clean up, to which he was thankful he was warned. Had the waitress just checked in a few times the family could have been helped. They just left which I don’t blame them.
The food was not up to what we have come to appreciate
This is really the first time it’s been so bad. Maybe will go back, maybe will not
For a place that supposedly specializes in seafood, Brigantine Poway fell far short of expectations. The restaurant looked dated and was mostly empty on a Saturday night, so the vibe is of a place that has seen its best days and is well into decline. Workers at the host stand were friendly and helpful. Dining room staff was pretty surly and seemed bothered by our existence. Service was extremely slow despite the lack of customers. Salmon and Mahi were both spongey and flavorless. Quality is no where near justifying the price point. Look elsewhere.
Generally, I like the Brig, however our server was not the best. No water and server did not ask. We did have a bottle of wine. Server did not offer or bread until we asked for it. Food was good but my sand dabs were a bit charred. Little attention to us throughout meal. Hope this was a temporary lapse! I have had much better experiences at this Restaurant.
I went there for my birthday with family. We had the calamari which was not the best calamari I've had but it was good. I got the prime rib rare. It was very good. It was very tender. And the green beans that went with it were cooked to perfection.
We always enjoy our visits to the Brigantine. However, I do wish they would cook the carrots and green beans a bit longer. I understand al dente but these are consistently nearly raw.
Love the restaurant, the food, our service. But this chain is one that is now adding a 4% surcharge to your bill because of the increasing costs mandated by the state for minimum wage compliance. It is being passed on to customers. The table next to me had a very heated discussion regarding the added fees. The manager was polite but insistent. That couple will not return. Not so sure this is the way to deal with the problem. It adds to your bill as well as your computing for a tip for service. It is now in small print on the menu!
Always a great experience at Brigantine Poway. We bring out-of-town guests/friends here for dinner on a regular basis. Our waitress was very energetic, responsive and polite.
We had a party of six and the service was excellent Even though they were packed. The food was better than I expected and overall we had a great meal. This entire chain is excellent.
Great food!!!! Great service . Very nice restaurant for a date night
