Only a few minutes drive west of Colorado Springs, Briarhurst Manor is located in the tiny valley of Manitou Springs. The stately Victorian manor house was built in 1872 by the founder of Manitou Springs, Dr. William Bell of London, England.
Our restaurant seats up to 500 guests and features casual yet elegant dining in nine intimate rooms, an extensive menu and wine list complete with five course dinners featuring domestic and game meats, fresh seafood, pastas, poultry, specialty salads, vegetarian, and handcrafted desserts. The finely grained pink sandstone Tudor manor displays the architecture and landscaping of an English country house complete with the bubbling Fountain Creek passing through the estate. There is also an unrivaled view of Pike's Peak.

Unfortunately, this was a terrible Thanksgiving day experience. Probably did not have the staff they needed. Nonetheless, service was extremely slow even though she tried very hard to please her customers. Food was horrible; filet mignon was the worst I ever had; the turkey was dry and overcooked and the stuffing and mashed potatoes were cold. We ate here ten years ago and really enjoyed it....wow, have things changed!

Elk Wellington was not very good. Filet was great. Server made some big mistakes--wrong order, overcharged on bill. Not likely to return. paid big $$$$

Went for our anniversary, and found the location very outdated. No one was at hostess stand when we arrived, had to walk back to the service area to find the hostess after waiting 5min. Service was very slow (restaurant was fairly empty), but the waitress was pleasant and informative. Opted for the five course meal vs a la carte. The lobster bisque was very thin and had no actual lobster meat in it (very overpriced for the serving size). Main courses came out cool to cold and the halibut was over cooked/dry and the scallops were burnt. The Elk ravioli was cold and had very little filling (again expected much better for $45-$60/entre). Had the creme brûlée and chocolate cake for dessert. Creme brûlée was average and small serving size. The cake was partially frozen, dry and tasted store bought. Overall the experience was disappointing and we would not recommend nor return.

This was our first time dining here and it was a great experience! The parking lot was a bit dark, so it was tough to see which entrance we had to go in but found it. The entry is large and it was very quiet so we actually were a bit confused if it was the dining area. We were seated in a smaller room and the music was so low, it was a bit awkward to have a conversation with another table right next to us and hear each other’s conversations. Our waitress was great and very attentive, as well as the chef came out and asked us if we’d be interested in a special appetizer. It was all very delicious! I got the Dijon crusted Tilapia and it was wonderful! We will definitely be back!

Service was excellent as always. Tilapia and scallops were really good. Filet a disappointment, was not nearly as tender as one would expect of that cut.

Horrible service...2 hours to get a cup of soup and entrees and to top it off had to seek waitress out to finalize bill after being ignored throughout the night, severely overpriced for portion size, and the lighting was flickering in the room which was just annoying. Hard pass on this place.

Beautiful castle, not well marked from the road. The front entrance was not marked. The restaurant was run down especially the outside.

The Grupon was a great deal. The ambiance and the food were excellent, especially the lobster bisque. The waitress did the best job she could considering that they were short-staffed, like everywhere else is these days. Overall, I would recommend it for a nice dinner out or a special occasion.

The menu is created daily , so , depending on the website to look at the menu is not accurate . And, we realize all restaurants are trying to regain financial footing as the pandemic resolves , but we felt this one has definitely become overpriced. So at least be sure you have a coupon.

Food was over cooked and dry, the portions were smaller than before but the prices higher, soup was slopped into a small bowl and there was soup dripping down the side of the bowl really a disappointing time especially since I bragged about how great it was to the people that we took there for their first time. Made me look foolish especially since we spent so much there for the dinner for four! Have gone there for the last time that is for sure!

One of our all time favorite restaurants and a real hiddine gem. Sitting outside on the covered patio watching a doe and her two fauns while enjoying superb food and a great staff, doesn't get any better than that.

Not quite sure what happened here. I think they were short staffed the night we went or improperly staffed. Food came out randomly and they had one waitress working the entire half of the house (which was about 10 seated tables). I don't think it was waitress fault when the food came out but I do believe she had too many tables for her to be effective at taking care of people's needs. 1/3 of the menu was not available and I believe our portions were cut. I had the elk steak and I don't think it weighed more than 4 oz. prior to being cooked. The entrees did taste great but the desserts were not properly presented. Creme Brulee top was ice cold as if had been prepped earlier that day and kept in a fridge. Apple cobbler was also served ice cold. The bartender had a hard time making simple drinks in a timely manner. Maybe it is COVID, but the service and food were not what were hoping for at $50 per entree. We do not plan on returning again.

There is no excuse for a restaurant of this caliber to have such a slow kitchen and poor service. I believe there were only four tables of two to four guests. We only saw one waiter.

Our appetizers took 20 and 35 minutes. Our main course took another hour after that. There were other guests there still waiting for their meal, and they arrived before us.

If this wasn't a gift certificate to celebrate me being free of cancer, I would DEMAND our money back!!!

We were blown away by the outstanding service and the incredible food! They spoiled us with a glass champagne when they heard it was our anniversary and made the dessert plate extra special for the occasion as well. Chef James is bringing modern elements into the classic menu. We had the caprese salad that had a airy mozzarella foam. My husband had the Taste of the Sea pasta dish and the mussels were so tender. Both our dishes had the most perfectly cooked pasta. I had the special which was the most delicious red snapper I have ever had. The skin was perfectly crisp and I will dream about it for the next week. The whole staff made it a wonderful experience and ended up hanging out for a bit after our dinner. We cannot wait to come back and try the seasonal menus.

The website made the place look great, when in reality, it was pretty run down. The grounds/lawn left much to be desired and looked like the trees and bushes hadn’t been trimmed since before the Pandemic. The inside was as expected which was a relief and the food was pretty good with unique recipes. For the price paired with the historical venue, we sort of expected a spiel on the history vs a photocopied sheet of paper with said background. The server was nice and helpful, so kudos to Tyler. The rest of the experience was “meh”.

An excellent, but pricey, meal in the gorgeous surroundings of a perfectly preserved 19th Century stone mansion. A great place for special occasions. The service was good although could have used an additional server.

The service was poor from the moment we came in. The server was snarky and short, not friendly at all. My soup came with a large hair on top, it almost appeared purposeful. The soup was exchanged with minimal apology and the server seemed to become even worse after their mistake. I ordered the seafood with pasta entree, the noodles were cold and butter was congealed. The shrimp was hot and tasted good but did not make up for the terrible noodles. I wanted to take my family out for a special meal and ended up spending $300 for ride service and food that made me sick. Will not be returning there ever
