This was my second time eating at Brennan's once for brunch and once for dinner. Our dinner this week was good, food fresh and flavorful. I will say I enjoyed the brunch a little more based on the food options. Both times we had the signature dish, bananas foster which was amazing. Our waiter and the rest of the staff were excellent. We where a little disappointed in the sommelier who did not seem to very knowledgeable. How he handled serving our wine was not very professional and thankfully our waiter corrected the issue. Would definitely dine there the next time we are in NOLA.

My wife & I were in NOLA and had been dying to try Banana’s Foster from the place they originated in. The presentation and story was excellent. The dish itself was fantastic and we even stuck around to partake in the Bubbly Happy Hour. Great experience and we’ll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, our recent experience at Brennan’s was very disappointing, especially given its reputation as a New Orleans institution. My mom and I had an 8:00pm reservation, but by 8:20pm we were still waiting. When I checked in with the host, he said, “Oh, I thought we seated you awhile ago,” which wasn’t exactly reassuring. When we were finally seated, the food didn’t make up for the wait. My mom’s duck was nearly impossible to cut without a steak knife, completely lacking in flavor, and served with mushy zucchini. I had the shrimp, which tasted like it had been previously frozen and was part of a dish that just didn’t come together. We decided to stay for the iconic Bananas Foster—after all, it was invented here. Our server was kind and attentive, but the tableside preparation fell flat. He gave each of us a single spoonful of sauce and said he was going to throw the rest away. My mom thought he was joking and made a lighthearted comment, but he really did take it away. What we ended up with was a scoop of plain vanilla ice cream, an undercooked banana, and barely any sauce. As locals, we wanted to love it. But the overall experience—from the long wait and the lackluster entrées to the disappointing finale—just didn’t live up to Brennan’s legacy.

Restaurant is well located ini the French Quarter on Royal Street. Well maintained historical building. Excellent service added to the enjoyment of well executed food. Food was reasonably priced. Overall we had an excellent experience for the evening.
