Pleasantly surprised. Great food and service
Loved this place! Everything was exceptional.
Always pleased with my meals at this establishment!
Highlights of the night:
- the bread and butter
- the filet mignon
- the tarte tatin
The best steak frites and an interesting and well priced wine list!
Best value we have yet to experience in Sacramento! Your duck dish exceeded all expectations. Service was excellent
Wonderful food and drink menu - nice selection of dinner entrees for vegetarians. Server was great!
Several really good points about this place for me. They have a garage under the building with free parking and an elevator. Since I have a walker and a hard time parking to go to a number of the nice restaurants in this area, this really works for me.
The food is always good. Sometimes Ella's is fantastic and sometimes it is only okay, but the food at Brasserie is always excellent. Last time I had the scallops, and that is one of the best scallop dishes I've every had.
We have eaten there enough that the waiter is starting to treat us like old friends, and I really like that. You don't have to dress up if you don't want to, but many people are coming from work so they are already dressed up.
I have added this restaurant to my list of must eat at every so often and must take all friends here too. I'm sold on Brassreie, and it is on my favorite restaurant list.
the food is amazing. I had a light meal but my friend had the pate' and after a taste, I agreed it was the best ever tasted. Our server was lovely, with impeccable service and attention. Wish I lived in walking distance and could stop in often.
The food was excellent! I don’t know why the place wasn’t packed. It’s was a little dark, I couldn’t see the menu but that sounds like an “old person problem” lol.
We tried this restaurant for my 65th birthday and could not be more pleased. The service was impeccable and the food unbelievably good! Will be going back to this restaurant again.
It was a very nice dinner, some of the most beautiful and delicious food I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant in Sacramento!
Great food and service.
Really good food! Our waiter was excellent. Brought check right away so we could get to our speakers Series. They also have parking in building and you can leave car and walk to venue and back. That’s a big plus.
Four of us dined there on 9/18/19. We all enjoyed the attentive service and especially the food. For starters, two had the butter lettuce salad, one had the gravlax, and one had the gazpacho. Everyone thought his dish was tasty. For dinner one had the Mary's chicken, one had the mussels, one had the filet, and one had the risotto with corn and scallops. Each dish was fabulous and delivered hot. Two had dessert - the chocolate mousse and the tarte tatin.
The only awkward part of the restaurant is the restrooms are through the lobby and adjacent bar. I realize this can't be fixed. Perhaps the free underground parking is enough of a incentive to offset the inconvenience. We have been there before and shall return. It is always a wonderful dining experience.
Went for a pre-surgery dinner with my husband. Had the liver pate first, it was great. We shared a beet salad, and I had the scallops and my husband had the rib eye. All the food was good. My husband only commented that his steak needed a little salt, and there was none on the table. But it wasn't enough for him to bother the server.
Great food and wine. Midweek dining found a few items out of stock, but otherwise excellent. Chris is great!!
Slow and empty on a Saturday night.
The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere.
The onions in the French onion soup were not carmalized and translucent. They were tough and tasted raw. Hence the off taste of the soup.
Staff used unwashed bare hands to slice bread and place in basket to serve.
Scallops were undercooked.
Risotto and spinach was bland.
The server was pleasant and the presentation of the food was attractive to the eye.
Not the experience I had hoped for.
This is probably a great Monday through Friday lunch destination near the capitol. We went on a Friday night. The restaurant doors were open allowing the breeze to come in, yet, it still remained too warm inside. We opted to sit in the patio. The music from the Mexican restaurant wafted across Courtyard and the strolling homeless people wear are dinner companions. The food was adequate and the service was good. The ambience left us wanting.
The most fabulous evening! Everything from the service to the drinks to the dinner to the dessert....perfection. I have always known that anytime I want something special, I know that I can be treated like a queen; and my guests were also treated royally. Cody, our server, was outstanding. Thank you everyone at Brasserie Capitale! We’ll be back!
Food was amazing , definitely planning on going back ! Highly recommended to anyone who loves French food ! The escargot was my favorite and the shrimp appetizer! Our waiter was the most polite older gentleman , great experience for our anniversary, only complaint was we went around 630 so it was alittle hot in there , it cooled down as we took our time to enjoy appetizers and entrees!
Food and service were excellent, but they charged extra for a second cherry for a drink and wouldn’t substitute spinach for a potato. A bit surprising considering the prices of dishes in the restaurant.
really very nice all around i appreciate really very nice all around i appreciate really very nice all around i appreciate really very nice all around i appreciate
Overall good experience, server was a little forgetful but very friendly.
Great Place to Celebrate
If raw oysters, scallops, and a terrific bottle of Margaux sound like heaven to you, this is the place. Detail-oriented, attentive service. Lovely.
Brasserie Capitale was the highlight of our trip to Sacramento. Our anniversary was coming up and I wanted to find a special place to have dinner.
The service was impeccable, the food was some of the best we've had, and I would highly recommend this place.
It is quite expensive, but the food is good. The restaurant was quiet, so it was a good place for conversation.
second visit here I booked through open table. I wrote down it was for a birthday so I was hoping a candle or writing on dessert but sadly no.
since my last visit they do not offer foie gras (nowhere in California) now. so I was bummed at that too, I think they need to update the menu on their website because it still had it on there. that was another reason I wanted to eat there.
chicken pate was delish. the salmon entrée so good we swapped out the chips for another side of veggies instead. $4 charge but it was good. prime ribeye was good. the duck entrée I didn't like as much need more flavor or crispier edges. and the side that came with it wasn't that great.
The quiche was nothing short of amazing!!!!
All these years living here and never had been to Brasserie Capitale. But it was great, the French cuisine was fabulous as one would expect of French food, and the service was great, prices were not outrageous. Wish I'd known about the free parking ahead of time!
We were welcomed very graciously, the service was excellent and food was wonderful. We were celebrating our 15th anniversary and the hostess was nice enough to give us a complimentary champagne! Such a nice touch.
Service was outstanding! Food was great! We are looking forward to returning again soon. I want to try lunch menu as it looked great.
Best food, service and wait staff. A must when in Sacramento 👍🏼
Nice upscale restaurant for adults wanting a quiet and more elegant evening dining experience. not for loud people or families with children. The waiter was very good at this job, initially spending time with us about the food choices and the wine choices (including a couple of tastings to decide on the wine). But it always felt a little "rushed" after taking our order (almost not stopping on way to other tables to ask how things were going for us, taste of food, etc., instead of taking a few minutes to genuinely interact with us) for what the restaurant would seem to aspire to be. I say "rushed" because In the front dinning room, there were only three table of two diners each and one group of six in the entry way "private" room. The hostess was nice, but there was something not quite personable in her interaction with us and other customers (that I noticed) when greeting and seating the customer. I noticed that one server (female) out of the four servers did not use the cloth for handling and cutting the baguette for the bread accompaniment. Overall, I like the experience and would return again for a special dining experience and would recommend to my friends.
The food is outstanding. The pork chop was cooked to perfection. The waiters are attentive. Order anything on the menu and you won’t be disappointed.
This restaurant is located at a convenient downtown location on a bright first floor corner. It’s menu is quite suitable for a quality French establishment. The service staff is friendly, knowledgable and available. The food was truly excellent. We started with a capresee salad that was nicely dressed with balsamic vinegarette. Our entrees were perfectly prepared and truly delicious. The entire experience was a pleasure and their pricing was certainly reasonable considering the quality delivered. We look forward to returning soon.
I was there at 3 in the afternoon for Happy Hours. Only a few customers so the noise level was obviously low. For Happy Hour munching and drinks, they send you to their little bar next door called À Côté, where the drinks and munchies are inexpensive. Both places look nice, fancy.
Went for lunch and all our meals were very good. Service very attentive and we had a room by ourselves we all could talk and hear each other. Very nice relaxing lunch. Will go back.
Properly cooked French bistro food in downtown Sacramento. Everything always well prepared and high quality. Definitely one of the best restaurants in town.
