The pounding outdoor tunes were a bit much for the only 3 tables occupied during lunch. Staff, on their own, lowered the volume.
French onion soup - excellent. Croque monsieur - 2 inches thick (1.5" gruyere) could be a bit more subtle. The (very) thin slice of ham did remind me of the French approach to le sandwich. And the pommes frite were about 60 - 40 crisp and enjoyable vs. soggy enough to set-aside.
The chicken breast salad was quite good and the teas selection was satisfactory. Wait staff was/is top-notch.
Even though we had to dine outside in the patio, the Brasserie Capitale made the experience quite enjoyable. The food was great and our server was excellent.
Brasserie Capital had a nice, quaint, classical french selection with original dishes like Coq Au Vin. While my risotto was perfectly cooked, my girlfriend's mussels in her salmon dish were overcooked. Mussels that disintegrate into a fishy taste isn't ideal.
Overall, the experience was great even though we were outside in the rain, sipping hot coffee and tea with a cute portable heater next to us was a wonderful experience. Our server was fantastic and exceptionally accomodating as well. 4.9/5 from me.
Had a lovely dinner outside - usual outstanding Moules Frite, and the chef's special Tiramisu
I adore this restaurant, it’s my favorite and the food is amazing!
I highly recommend Brassiere Capital. The French onion soup was delicious. The steak frites was perfectly cooked. The crème brûlée had a creamy texture and a crispy sugar top. There is free parking which is extremely rare for a downtown restaurant.
Tres bien. The service was great. We stayed well after the last table and were never rushed.
This is our "go to" place for special occasions. Despite the operational limitations due to pandemic, Aziz and staff made the night memorable. Great food and great music.
We arrived for our planned birthday dinner for my husband. The restaurant had closed and did not bother to contact patrons to inform of the unplanned closure! Unbelievably poor form for a business! We were extremely disappointed and we will not return. I do understand that the city was in fear of problems on this date. Nevertheless to ruin a couples night out by not so much as a phone call to inform of a change is simply unacceptable. In times like these restaurants must excel at hospitality, if they can’t do anything else. Too bad for us and shame on this establishment for the rudeness.
Previous visits have been amazing, but this time it was unfortunately really lackluster. Was there to celebrate a bday (even noted it in the reservation) but was never mentioned etc. Our server was really odd and not the level of service expected for this restaurant (and the prices they charge). At one point we saw him walk over past the patio and was on his phone for awhile. Food was ok, my steak was over cooked and lacked seasoning. Not sure if there was a lot of changes with staff during covid but was such a bummer of an experience, especially for the cost.
Excellent food, service, and ambience. Salmon was perfect.
We had a wonderful evening! Started with Halloween themed drinks called Corpse Reviver LOL sort of like a Daquerie. I had the ribeye steak with pommes frites. Perfection. My husband ordered the filet mignon with spinach and mashed potatoes and adored it. We had a nice Bordeaux with the steaks. Our server was attentive and charming. Great night out. Thanks!
Good ambiance, nice bar, good selection of creative food however bland tasting-needs more flavor.
After we made the reservation and showed up, we couldn't figure out how to get in at first since the doors that opened into the entrance were clearly marked Do Not Use and the doors that's were supposed to work didn't. After we figured that out, the server told us they were actually closed despite us being able to make a reservation at all. I get that COVID disrupts things but c'mon... Update your hours. And OpenTable should have accounted for this too. Just a really bad overall experience that could have been avoided with just a bit of management work.
Had a very nice, safe meal. Service was a bit slow but all in all positive experience. Love the gravalox!
Food was nothing special. Waitress spilled our almost $90 bottle of champagne... cocktails were something you could make at home. $400 later I wasn’t impressed.
Food was amazing, drinks were too. Ryan was on it so great we came back couple days later.
It was absolutely amazing the ingredients were blended very well together and the dishes were not overly expensive
Our server was nice but not attentive. It took too long for her to find a wine opener we brought our own wine. We did not feel special it was my boyfriends birthday and he said the service is a F-. I think she had too many tables going on and just could not keep up. Also I had asked at booking if we could have a cake and candle and nothing was brought over when our meal was over. Food and ambience perfect service not so much.
Relaxing early dinner at Brasserie Capitale for my grandson's birthday. He enjoyed the filet minion, while I ordered the French onion soup and a salmon appetizer. We sat outside and felt very safe. The server was very attentive, and the food was wonderful.
Despite some issues completely beyond the control of the restaurant we had a pleasant experience. We were seated outside due to Covid and there was some very disturbing behavior on display outside the restaurant’s patio. When my husband sought backup from restaurant staff they went above and beyond to address and remediate the problems. Aziz (owner/manager) made some great making recommendations and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
This is a great place and I enjoy it every time I go! So glad you all are open and have hopefully weathered the storm of COVID-19!!
Great place - Always meets expectations. The food and service is always great. The ambiance is special.
What a great place for lunch with friends!! Food and service were amazing!! Thank you!
Food was good, but the service was poor received our food a whole hour after ordering, the waitress was not engaging at all, she couldn’t recommend anything and did not have a welcoming attitude at all.
I think they changed chefs recently. The chef they had before made the most wonderful French onion soup. The French onion soup I had the other day was not very good and I was disappointed. I don't know what they put in it, but half way though I stopped eating because there was something in the soup I didn't like. The dinner itself was the same excellent food and flavors as before, but definitely not the same chef. They also took lamb off the menu, which disappointed me. The creme brulee had a thick shell like a layer of candy. I think it was too thick - again the new chef is not as good. I will go back again, but I want to eat in some other restaurants before go back again. With all this virus nonsense, other local French restaurants have closed. I can't find a croque monsieur to save my life. The Brasserie is now the best French restaurant in Sacramento. How many restaurants are going to close permanently before this virus nonsense is over?
One of our Sac favorites still shines in the COVID era. Trying their hardest to make the best of a difficult situation. Staff seemed to take PPE protocols seriously, which is appreciated as not everyone does. Salmon was excellent. We are not going out as often these days, but Brasserie Capitale is certainly a place we'll want to return to.
I would have given them a five star but I called to ask if they had escargot and was told there was but when I got there there wasn't. Everything else was very good
Food was excellent. So was the service. Hard to see how they will make it in these crazy times. Outside of the fact that we had to wear a mask to go to the table or use the restroom, everything else was great. Hoping to visit again soon. Hopefully without the masks.
One of the best restaurants in Sacramento. Great wine list!
Spacious, shaded patio, fabulous service and even better food!
The oysters were amazing.
Amazing food great atmosphere can’t wait to go back
