Bonny and Read Fresh Seafood and Steaks
Fabulous food! Crab dip, coconut shrimp, fish and chips, steaks. Crab legs and beet salad we loved it all.
The food was mostly very good. My halibut was very well cooked, but just ever so slightly over seasoned. Would have preferred a mashed potato instead of the roasters. Crab dip was wonderful. Good value for the money. Nice selection of wines.
Enjoyed a nice evening in a wonderful atmosphere. Service was excellent.
We really enjoyed this restaurant! It is hard to find a seafood specialty place in Colorado Springs and this one was so yummy! We even got to meet the owner who was really friendly! We will likely be back!
This place was fantastic. We were celebrating our first date night after having a baby a month ago. We had oysters as appetizers. He got the NY steak with blue cheese and I got the flat minion (both med-rare) We both had lobster tails added added also. Everything was phenomenal and cooked to perfection, excellent flavor in the steaks. Gave it 5 stars all around except on value as the price is what youd expect for a high end meal like this. Will be going back.
Pros: The food was great and our server was excellent. I got a steak and I was not disappointed. They even accommodated my garlic allergy and made a different side without an extra charge. Apple crumble desert was wonderful.
Cons: They don’t serve bread for the table unless you ask. But they only have garlic bread. It was a little too loud and my aunt kept having an allergic reaction to a server’s perfume. A little expensive and a little too dark in the restaurant.
Our waitress was excellent! We had a delicious meal from beginning to end. Quiet setting.
Our server was amazing, ... matter-of-fact and knowledgeable ... yet very pleasant to talk to. The food was incredible and the menu had all I could wish for. A very pleasurable date night!
Awesome evening, the food was wonderful, we had the Oysters Rockefeller and the Cod and King Crab. The service (our waiter was Matt) was incredible. Can't wait to go back.
Great food ! A little loud
But the food was great !!! Service was good too. !
Always a great meal!
I’ve left good reviews of this restaurant in the past. Their service has suffered (may have just been my server) took about 20 minutes to take the drink order and then got them to the table another 20 minutes later and then took our food order (never asked during the meal if needed another drink until it was time for the check, etc). She didn’t seem busy, lots of open tables and servers. One thing I did notice was one computer for about 4 servers which may have slowed them as the night went on (they were in line waiting to use it), but wasn’t the initial issue. May try it again in a year or two, but will no longer be a go to option. Food was still good (but never tastes as good when the experience is lacking). May have just been an off night.
My husband and I had a wonderful evening/date night. The food was excellent and the service was great. We look forward to returning!
Entrees were exceptional, the appetizers were just so-so. Ordered the ceviche to start, we have had amazing ceviche in Columbia and Panama, this did not even come close..no actual flavor, no heat, spices or very little citris/lime flavor, very little seasoning... usually there’s onion, cilantro, tomato, etc, had to ask for some heat and limes to doctor it up. The bay scallops were akin to pencil erasers, tough and chewy, definitely will not order that again. I understand we are land locked, but ?? Also had the lobster chowder which had no traces of lobster what- so-ever, flavor was decent but was looking for some evidence of crustacean in it. The bay scallop tacos were also uneventful, except for the scotch bonnet sauce which was excellent! If they had put a little of that in the ceviche it would have brought it up 10 notches. The tortillas were dry and didn’t seem fresh, homemade would be amazing.. The scallop entree was seared and cooked perfectly and they were extremely tender and delish. We would return for that alone. Service was wonderful and attentive, great martinis, nice atmosphere.
We were seated quickly and our wait staff was very attentive. The food was very good as were the portions will visit again.
Service was extremely efficient, soup and muscles were good. My wife had the lobster tail (under cooked) , but did enjoy the filet. I had the prime rib, a quarter of which was fat, and had to butcher out the rest of the steak to remove the gristle. What I did eat was ok. Only reason I indicted that I would not recommend is I felt that they fell way short of what they priced the food at.
Excellent food and outstanding service, truly a memorable experience.
Great as always! I had the Scallops with Grits and they were incredible. Highly recommended!
Amazing food every time. Drinks are also great. Service has been great every time.
This is my favorite restaurant! Always delicious !
Grace was a fantastic server, food was great!
An excellent choice in the springs, even for steak :)
Food was not great ! Especially not for the price! Steak was terrible lobster tail wasn’t even cooked
Our server was great! She timed everything perfectly. Wish I could remember her name. Short blonde hair. Company phone was a bit noisy. Oysters and cocktails were so good. Didn’t really enjoy the sauce that comes with the calamari, but when we asked, our server brought us tartar. Grouper was okay but wasn’t really loving the seasoning on top. It was kind of like an everything bagel. The key lime dessert was awesome.
Loved loved the mussels!! Best sauce ever!! Fried oysters tender, a little heavy on the breading. Only 3 sea scallops for entree dish :(. Did make substitutions because of my allergies, thanks.
Although ribeye was great, it was a bit pricy compared to the same in other places. Loved the scallops, but the ham was unknowingly spicy so I didn't eat it and the grits needed a little more pizazz, they were still ok. The crab dip was yummy and pineapple dessert was delicious with the toppings. I'd still recommend to someone who can afford fine dining now and then.
Great food and service, one of our favorite happy hours in town.
Our first time at Bonny and Reeds. Started with the crab dip and a couple oysters. Then we both had the Bonny Filet with crabmeat and hollandaise sauce...fantastic! The Old Fashioned was spot on, and the service was excellent. We will definately be back.
My food was great! A cple friends was not :( First time for that!
Our server was great though!!
This was a first time visit to this restaurant. Got a really good deal on an appetizer during happy hour. Main dishes were amazingly good on the taste buds. The service was overall.... ok. Only have two complaints. First, the bartender missed the alcohol in our drinks (we were very sure of it.) Second, the cooks OVER cooked our $25 side of king crab! A very expensive disappointing oops. We could not crack them, we had to peel them apart with our forks. Also, once peeled, the meet was shrunken from being over cooked. Better luck next $25! Any restaurant has hit or misses. This one, mostly a hit. The main courses were that good. Be back to try more. Just not the crab (;!
birthday dinner. The Service was fast and friendly.
Fantastic experience and I can't wait to go back especially during happy hour! Your place was incredible and so reasonably priced yet had unbelievably delicious food!
Birthday dinner, food was great and service was excellent.
Monday nights you can get a $6 bottle of house wine with 2 entrees - a super great deal!
Great experience! Will be back to try other options
Steak was Luke warm, my husband ordered the ribeye about 50% was fat. He asked the waiter if that was normal and he said yes ever since they changed who they got their meat from.
We had a wide variety of seafood and it was all cooked to perfection. The chefs in the kitchen were on point and the service was fantastic.
Great seafood, excellent service. Really enjoyed our visit.
We had an amazing anniversary dinner! The food and drinks were outstanding as was our waiter. We will be returning in the near future. Truly one of the best restaurants in downtown Colorado Springs!
The restaurant was nicely lit for dinner, the food was exquisite, and the service was amongst the best I have received in six years of living in the Springs
