Bonny and Read Fresh Seafood and Steaks
was looking for someplace we had not been to and were downtown at the arts center for a show. We were very pleased with all aspects of Bonny & Read will be back with friends as soon as possible.
Bonny and Read is our go to place for fine seafood. We are never disappointed with the quality and flavor of the food. Highly recommend this place for any occasion.
The atmosphere, service and food was great. The pricing was lower than expected. Highly recommend but I would drop the chocolate cake with peanut butter. Everyone has something to improve on but the seafood is excellent.
This place is amazing. My fiance and I have been here I think five times and everytime we have gone it has been stellar. Consistantly good food. I dont like seafood but I love their scallop tacos and their hallibut. They also cook a dang good steak. 10/10 would recommend.
My wife's sirloin was cooked to perfection. I was less impressed with the cioppino. The tomato base was superb as were the scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. However, I couldn't enjoy the crab legs. The crab leg cracker wouldn't crack open the shell, it squeezed the shell without cracking. I tried cutting the shell with knife and fork to no avail.
Sepurb service and the food was amazing! When we come to Colorado Springs again, we will definitely be stopping in.
I googled steakhouses and this was on the list. I always look at menus before I decide on a place. This restaurant looked very appealing to me. I made reservations and this was a great dinning experience! We’ll be back again for sure!! We were very pleased with everything!
Fabulous dinner and service. Midweek reservation. My steak and the wife's halibut were prepared perfectly.
This was our first visit to Bonny and Read and we loved it. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. We will definitely come back!
The food was great. The Key Lime Tart was fabulous. We will be returning. The prices were reasonable for a great steak and seafood.
Great place to have a nice meal. Food prepared well. Great choices on the menu. Service was excellent. Would return if we ever got to Colorado Springs again. Just a short walk from our hotel, The Antlers.
One of our favorite places for seafood! One of the best in the Springs!
I was very disappointed with this restaurant and the dish I had. I ordered the cod with lobster stuffing. The cod was overcooked and too much stuffing on top on the cod, which was dry. Plus, the hollandaise sauce was cold. It was not worth 26 bucks. I've had better seafood at other places that is much cheaper. My friend's stuffed lobster was a little better, but shocked that no clarified butter was offered to dip the lobster. My spouse had the scallops with heirloom grits. The scallops were nice and grits okay. I felt the food on the menu is overpriced. I did like the ambiance and our waitress was friendly, but not sure why it took so long to receive our food. I think she let it stay ,after it was ready, a bit too long before bringing our food.
Absolutely perfect place to have a quiet birthday dinner. Absolutely amazing food and Our waitress was amazing! I had the sea scallops and I couldn’t have been happier with my entree. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality seafood dinner!
Very cozy venue with tasty food served nicely. Special thanks to Kate for the advice on wine and meal choices. Shall definitely go there again if and when in Colo Springs
Food was AMAZING! I had a great all around experience!
The only bad thing is the added gratuity that isn’t mentioned until you get the bill. Also their “shareable” portions are small while the rest of their menu is great.
They had a nice booth waiting for us. Service was very quick. Drinks were excellent. A little on the loud side but not bad overall. This is a fairly "upscale" restaurant but the prices are, in our opinion, very reasonable.
Awesome seafood and a fun atmosphere!
Outstanding customer service, great environment, fresh seafood, and, great tasting steak. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves!
We have been here a couple of times and we always love the food, the drinks and the service.
Wow! Amazing menu and food
with reasonable prices.
Food was delicious! We would definitely go again. Lighting was a little bright, making it feel like we were in a cafeteria.
Stuffed lobster was not enough food, my filet was slightly overcooked, our waiter dropped off our food and never came back to see how our meal was. The mashed potatoes were good, but dry, and i wanted more butter.I wanted to order a glass of wine,, but he never came back to ask anything. We asked for our check thru another waiter, which he promptly gave us, then our waiter arrives, we explain our situation and all he says is I am sorry. We watched our waiter circle the room many times, but never even looked at us. Very dissappoined in his service. I don't know that we will be back, also it was my birthday which I announced making the reservation, but no acknowledgement from anyone. I wish I knew the waiters name, but I don't think he told us, he was very unprofessional.
Great restaurant to enjoy a good steak or fresh seafood downtown. They have a wonderful happy hour as well with a good deal on drinks and appetizers. Good menu options for dinner with an extensive wine list. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The staff were great providing attentive service coming to the table at the right moments. The food was excellent - well-prepared, portions were good, and interesting menu choices. We had a great special occasion evening.
This is my favorite restaurant. I have tried numerous entrees and appetizers and each one was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. The wine selection is good, the staff pleasant and unobtrusive and the ambiance is conducive to conversation.
The steak with the blue cheese crust was outstanding! The cod stuffed with lobster was good. However, the lobster stuffing was very light on the lobster and too heavy on the breading. I couldn't taste the lobster. Oysters on the half-shell were outstanding as usual.
Average at best. Under seasoned and expensive. Please ask you chef to travel so he gets a perspective. I do not recommend based on taste and value.
Sorry but based on decades of traveling and fine dinning, this restuarant is below average
We had great expectations for B&R, but we’re disappointed. The chowders were excellent, the service was very good, but the mahi-mahi was Over cooked making it quite dry. This should not happen in a restaurant specializing in seafood. Also, even though I made it clear it was our Anniversary, not one mention was made!
Excellent place for steak and/or seafood! Great service and quality food!
We made a reservation knowing that the venue would likely be busy. We arrived 15 minutes before our reservation, and were told we would need to wait in the bar area until our table was ready. Luckily, a small table in the bar area opened up five minutes into our wait; otherwise, we would have had to try and stand unobtrusively between the door and bar area while waiting. It is a small space comparatively to other area restaurants, and became quite loud with the music and voices. The menu looked to have several creative options. There were a few gluten free options and were labeled with a symbol on the regular menu. The meal was on the pricier side for just the two of us, but we also wanted to have lobster tail, which was only available as an add on to our entrees (as neither of us like whole lobster, this was how we were able to get what we desired for our meal).
We always enjoy our meals and experience at Bonny and Read!
The ambiance and decor was spot on. We really loved the atmosphere. But for me the food was a major flop. I’d been craving a lobster roll for weeks so we went here. $30 per plate and the lobster was rubbery and dry. Super disappointed. Maybe a different entree would be better but I’m not jumping to take that risk when it’s so pricey.
So good! Must try! The waiter was so nice too. We will definitely go back soon.
The halibut came steaming hot and dried out. Boring sides. U eventful red potatoes. The garlic potatoes tasted artificial. The steaks were ok. Save your money.
This was our third visit to B & R. Always excellent service and fantastic food. Sophisticated space. The very best in CO Springs in our experience!!!
Beet salad recco with salmon was great tasting. Server was authentic, friendly and attentive. Blackened shrimp Alfredo hit the spot.
Food was very bland. We took my son here for his birthday as he wanted seafood. We ordered the Shrimp appetizer and we got 4 large shrimp that would have been good if they had seasoned the shrimp before breading. It was very bland and just ok. I definitely wouldn't pay 12.99 for 4 shrimp that was ok. Next I ordered the Lobster chowder and it was terrible-no taste at all. I added tons of salt and pepper and it didn't help. Sent it back and ordered the crab dip which was ok but it was mainly cheese-couldnt taste the blue crab. My son ordered the Blackened fish sandwich which was underwhelming. The fish although being blackened needed salt and pepper to give it some flavor. My husband ordered the fish and chips which again the fish had no seasoning before it was lightly battered. This dish would have been good if it had been seasoned because the batter on the fish was good. They served frozen fries with it. I would think at a place this expensive that they would have at least had fresh fries instead of frozen. We will not be back again. Very disappointed especially with this being a special occasion for my son.
My husband and I love Bonny and Read! We go here several times a month. We always recommend it to our friends and customers. Great meals, great servers, great wines and cocktails!
