Had a reservation for 6 and they put us in a booth which was large but would have preferred a table. Other then that the food at Bonnie and Reads is always very very good. The only food item that I found a little underwhelming was the New England clam chowder. It was pretty bland and needed some salt and pepper to make it acceptable. The crab filet was fantastic and I think the steaks at B&R rival those of The Famous across the street for less cost. The lobster tail I added was very good with it. Highly recommend B&R for date night or a special occasion and for 6 people the cost was very reasonable.

The food at Bonny and Read is a bit uninspired and not worth the high prices, but decent overall. Of the items we tried, here were our impressions:
- Crab dip appetizer: Was there even crab in this dish? It tasted entirely of cheese.
- Cod with lobster stuffing and asparagus: Cod was cooked well but flavorless, lobster stuffing was well seasoned and had a great mildly crispy outer texture.
- Steak with shrimp (special): The bacon cream sauce on top was fantastic and the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. This dish was the best of those we had.
- Pineapple upside down cake: Good but not very memorable.
- Funny Bone: This dessert was really fantastic (peanut butter mousse sandwiched between two layers of chocolate cake, topped with a thin layer of ganache), but was so rich that no one wanted more than a couple of bites. Definitely one to share.

We wanted to go somewhere new for a date night and, boy, did we choose the right place!! We were seated immediately and Mitchell got us water right away. The lobster corn chowder was the best way to start our meal. He had the king crab dinner and I enjoyed the stuffed half lobster. We were blown away with how rich and tender and delicious it all was. We decided to go one step further and get the funny bone for dessert. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Rich and delicious. I am recommending this place to everyone I know. We will be back!

Absolutely exceptional seafood, so glad our daughter picked Bonnie and Reed's for her birthday dinner. Have to go back and have some oysters. So if you Love seafood like we do, you will have to go and try them. I can't say enough about this ❤️❤️❤️

We had a wonderful meal, once again, at Bonny and Read. My only complaint (suggestion) is they expand menu options. Every meal we've had there is great, but the options, particularly the fresh seafood options, are limited.

Always enjoy the Old Fashioned they serve, and how attentive our wait person was.... EXCEPT that we had instructed them not to put in order for main meal until AFTER the appetizer plates were removed. And because we expected some late arrivals who got there just as they brought the food out, halfway through our consuming the appetizers!?!!!! Really!??? That was the only aggravating part for us, since now the late arrivals' food came waaaaay after we had finished ours.... Guess specifying twice what we wanted to do, that we were in no rush, that we had people arriving later, was not translated to the kitchen staff, or did they just ignore the waiter? Again, the drinks were awesome, service (mostly) attentive and accommodating....

My wife and I ate there on Friday at happy hour. The crab dip appetizer is amazing. I had the filet and my wife had the prime rib dinner. They were both cooked to perfection and the flavor was great. I am glad we found this place, it will definitely be a part of our rotation. The price is also very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get.

A welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in the door! We were greeted right away, seated immediately, and we were not pressed to order drinks or appetizers at any time. However, the drinks and appetizers we’re outstanding! We each ordered a different main course and enjoyed both the presentation and delicious tastes. This was our first visit but we believe we have found a new “go-to” restaurant!

Our server was great, until she got another table. I was with my family, table of 3. In came a table of 8 that everyone was clearly going to be drinking and spending lots of $$. Once this table arrived, we were completely forgotten, so was the table next to us. The server would not even look at us, but had plenty of time to flirt and giggle and chat with the larger table. We had to ask for everything we needed at that point. I had to go to the bar to get my water filled. We had to ask for our bill, after finishing our meal and sitting with dirty plates in front of us for over 20 mins. Once she brought the bill, again, never came back. We had to go and have someone check us out as she was far to busy flirting and giggling with the other table. For such a nice place, the service is built into the price and because of that, it's not worth it.

We have dined here several times with mixed experiences. One in our party ordered the fish tacos--the fish was dry and a request for additional aioli was not fulfilled. The fish and chips were a disappointment--a large bowl of french fries (which were quite good) but only three small fish nuggets. During this lunch visit there was only one waitstaff, and she was overwhelmed having to act as bartender as well. Two males roamed the dining room periodically and occasionally brought a dish or a bowl to a table. If one of those men was the manager, he should have jumped in with both feet to make certain all tables were covered. Two out of three visits with similar experience, most likely will not return. Too many good restaurants out there.

Our first time at Bonny and Read - we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server Bri was absolutely perfect. She recommended dishes, checked on us at just the right times and was very pleasant to talk to. The food was also fantastic. We began with a dirty martini and the Blackbeard. Superbly crafted drinks started a wonderful evening. Blue Crab Dip, then a Bonny and Read Filet - you can't go wrong. The dip was delicious and accompanied by house-made butter crackers, bread and carrots and celery. Wonderful. The filet was cooked perfectly as were the potatoes and broccolini. Overall, a superb experience and we will be back soon to try something new (I've heard the halibut is special).

I took my wife here for her birthday. I made reservations through Open Table and asked for a window booth. Upon arrival we were seated at a very nice window booth and our waiter Matt was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The food was very good and the ambiance was also very good for a special occasion. Would recommend for special dinners with someone special.

Mixed review when the masses are reading.. so I’ll say first off for visiting and hiking all day, looking for a good straight forward meal this was a winner. I had the black garlic fries, kale Caesar, and east coast oysters to start (some times the simple things are the best in life) and that definitely hit the spot! For entrees we both had blue cheese crushed steaks and they weren’t the best I ever had but definitely tasty and cooked well!

My issues were small but notable, smelled like pungent seafood as soon as you walked in the restaurant, ambiance was cozy enough but still a little open generic feeling.. waitress looked at me oddly when I ordered a glass of wine, asked for my ID, then never brought it to me. Finally our meals came and I told her if she’d forgotten to put it in not to bring it, she said it had been sitting there she just forgot to bring it (which wasn’t true) she ended up bringing it and taking it off my ticket. It all worked out fine but was just awkward and annoying.

My wife's sirloin was cooked to perfection. I was less impressed with the cioppino. The tomato base was superb as were the scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. However, I couldn't enjoy the crab legs. The crab leg cracker wouldn't crack open the shell, it squeezed the shell without cracking. I tried cutting the shell with knife and fork to no avail.

I was very disappointed with this restaurant and the dish I had. I ordered the cod with lobster stuffing. The cod was overcooked and too much stuffing on top on the cod, which was dry. Plus, the hollandaise sauce was cold. It was not worth 26 bucks. I've had better seafood at other places that is much cheaper. My friend's stuffed lobster was a little better, but shocked that no clarified butter was offered to dip the lobster. My spouse had the scallops with heirloom grits. The scallops were nice and grits okay. I felt the food on the menu is overpriced. I did like the ambiance and our waitress was friendly, but not sure why it took so long to receive our food. I think she let it stay ,after it was ready, a bit too long before bringing our food.
