Bonny and Read Fresh Seafood and Steaks
Our first time at Bonny and Read - we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our server Bri was absolutely perfect. She recommended dishes, checked on us at just the right times and was very pleasant to talk to. The food was also fantastic. We began with a dirty martini and the Blackbeard. Superbly crafted drinks started a wonderful evening. Blue Crab Dip, then a Bonny and Read Filet - you can't go wrong. The dip was delicious and accompanied by house-made butter crackers, bread and carrots and celery. Wonderful. The filet was cooked perfectly as were the potatoes and broccolini. Overall, a superb experience and we will be back soon to try something new (I've heard the halibut is special).
First visit and the food/service was excellent. Particularly enjoyed the corn chowder. Will be returning.
Everything my party ordered was excellent
The food was and the atmosphere were amazing. I cant wait to go back there. We went for my wife's birthday and she loved everything about this place. Highly recommended
Enjoyed the restaurant and food quality. A little bread and olive oil or chef surprise would have been a welcoming gesture. Will go back and recommend the restaurant.
I took my wife here for her birthday. I made reservations through Open Table and asked for a window booth. Upon arrival we were seated at a very nice window booth and our waiter Matt was extremely knowledgeable and professional. The food was very good and the ambiance was also very good for a special occasion. Would recommend for special dinners with someone special.
Mixed review when the masses are reading.. so I’ll say first off for visiting and hiking all day, looking for a good straight forward meal this was a winner. I had the black garlic fries, kale Caesar, and east coast oysters to start (some times the simple things are the best in life) and that definitely hit the spot! For entrees we both had blue cheese crushed steaks and they weren’t the best I ever had but definitely tasty and cooked well!
My issues were small but notable, smelled like pungent seafood as soon as you walked in the restaurant, ambiance was cozy enough but still a little open generic feeling.. waitress looked at me oddly when I ordered a glass of wine, asked for my ID, then never brought it to me. Finally our meals came and I told her if she’d forgotten to put it in not to bring it, she said it had been sitting there she just forgot to bring it (which wasn’t true) she ended up bringing it and taking it off my ticket. It all worked out fine but was just awkward and annoying.
We were celebrating the end of our financial audit and we had a great time. We stayed and talked for a while and no one rushed us out. The food was fantastic. Service was great. Now one of my favorite restaurants along with the Rabbit Hole.
Great place for dinner! I need to try it for happy hour.
was looking for someplace we had not been to and were downtown at the arts center for a show. We were very pleased with all aspects of Bonny & Read will be back with friends as soon as possible.
Bonny and Read is our go to place for fine seafood. We are never disappointed with the quality and flavor of the food. Highly recommend this place for any occasion.
The atmosphere, service and food was great. The pricing was lower than expected. Highly recommend but I would drop the chocolate cake with peanut butter. Everyone has something to improve on but the seafood is excellent.
This place is amazing. My fiance and I have been here I think five times and everytime we have gone it has been stellar. Consistantly good food. I dont like seafood but I love their scallop tacos and their hallibut. They also cook a dang good steak. 10/10 would recommend.
My wife's sirloin was cooked to perfection. I was less impressed with the cioppino. The tomato base was superb as were the scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels. However, I couldn't enjoy the crab legs. The crab leg cracker wouldn't crack open the shell, it squeezed the shell without cracking. I tried cutting the shell with knife and fork to no avail.
Sepurb service and the food was amazing! When we come to Colorado Springs again, we will definitely be stopping in.
I googled steakhouses and this was on the list. I always look at menus before I decide on a place. This restaurant looked very appealing to me. I made reservations and this was a great dinning experience! We’ll be back again for sure!! We were very pleased with everything!
Fabulous dinner and service. Midweek reservation. My steak and the wife's halibut were prepared perfectly.
This was our first visit to Bonny and Read and we loved it. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. We will definitely come back!
The food was great. The Key Lime Tart was fabulous. We will be returning. The prices were reasonable for a great steak and seafood.
Great place to have a nice meal. Food prepared well. Great choices on the menu. Service was excellent. Would return if we ever got to Colorado Springs again. Just a short walk from our hotel, The Antlers.
One of our favorite places for seafood! One of the best in the Springs!
I was very disappointed with this restaurant and the dish I had. I ordered the cod with lobster stuffing. The cod was overcooked and too much stuffing on top on the cod, which was dry. Plus, the hollandaise sauce was cold. It was not worth 26 bucks. I've had better seafood at other places that is much cheaper. My friend's stuffed lobster was a little better, but shocked that no clarified butter was offered to dip the lobster. My spouse had the scallops with heirloom grits. The scallops were nice and grits okay. I felt the food on the menu is overpriced. I did like the ambiance and our waitress was friendly, but not sure why it took so long to receive our food. I think she let it stay ,after it was ready, a bit too long before bringing our food.
Absolutely perfect place to have a quiet birthday dinner. Absolutely amazing food and Our waitress was amazing! I had the sea scallops and I couldn’t have been happier with my entree. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality seafood dinner!
Very cozy venue with tasty food served nicely. Special thanks to Kate for the advice on wine and meal choices. Shall definitely go there again if and when in Colo Springs
Food was AMAZING! I had a great all around experience!
The only bad thing is the added gratuity that isn’t mentioned until you get the bill. Also their “shareable” portions are small while the rest of their menu is great.
They had a nice booth waiting for us. Service was very quick. Drinks were excellent. A little on the loud side but not bad overall. This is a fairly "upscale" restaurant but the prices are, in our opinion, very reasonable.
Awesome seafood and a fun atmosphere!
Outstanding customer service, great environment, fresh seafood, and, great tasting steak. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves!
We have been here a couple of times and we always love the food, the drinks and the service.
Wow! Amazing menu and food
with reasonable prices.
Food was delicious! We would definitely go again. Lighting was a little bright, making it feel like we were in a cafeteria.
Stuffed lobster was not enough food, my filet was slightly overcooked, our waiter dropped off our food and never came back to see how our meal was. The mashed potatoes were good, but dry, and i wanted more butter.I wanted to order a glass of wine,, but he never came back to ask anything. We asked for our check thru another waiter, which he promptly gave us, then our waiter arrives, we explain our situation and all he says is I am sorry. We watched our waiter circle the room many times, but never even looked at us. Very dissappoined in his service. I don't know that we will be back, also it was my birthday which I announced making the reservation, but no acknowledgement from anyone. I wish I knew the waiters name, but I don't think he told us, he was very unprofessional.
Great restaurant to enjoy a good steak or fresh seafood downtown. They have a wonderful happy hour as well with a good deal on drinks and appetizers. Good menu options for dinner with an extensive wine list. Highly recommend this restaurant.
The staff were great providing attentive service coming to the table at the right moments. The food was excellent - well-prepared, portions were good, and interesting menu choices. We had a great special occasion evening.
This is my favorite restaurant. I have tried numerous entrees and appetizers and each one was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. The wine selection is good, the staff pleasant and unobtrusive and the ambiance is conducive to conversation.
The steak with the blue cheese crust was outstanding! The cod stuffed with lobster was good. However, the lobster stuffing was very light on the lobster and too heavy on the breading. I couldn't taste the lobster. Oysters on the half-shell were outstanding as usual.
Average at best. Under seasoned and expensive. Please ask you chef to travel so he gets a perspective. I do not recommend based on taste and value.
Sorry but based on decades of traveling and fine dinning, this restuarant is below average
We had great expectations for B&R, but we’re disappointed. The chowders were excellent, the service was very good, but the mahi-mahi was Over cooked making it quite dry. This should not happen in a restaurant specializing in seafood. Also, even though I made it clear it was our Anniversary, not one mention was made!
Excellent place for steak and/or seafood! Great service and quality food!
