The branch was closing the next day and they were out of most items on the menu (including oysters!). They didn't bother to call to inform us of this. I get that all of the staff are now out of jobs, but they could've fought to the finish. Instead, though, ZERO f---ks were given.

Food is always a guarantee to be good. We always get oysters and clam chowder. Our server seemed little annoyed but all in all..,,, it was a good time.

Always a good meal to be had here. We love the french fries with Old Bay Seasoning. The ceviche mixto is good. I like the Ahi tuna sandwich and the Bouillabaisse. Nothing like a good piece of seafood with a glass of Sancerre.

We went to celebrate birthdays of 2 friends. The birthday girl wanted to try the restaurant. The food was not bad but it was not great either. The clam chowder was full of clams but it was a bit under seasoned and bland. The Lobster roll was good but had too many pieces of the rubbery part of the claw. Other items ordered were the seafood fry where the shrimp were a nice sized but the oysters were tiny and had no flavor. The chipolata was not too exciting. The corn chowder tasted like Thai food with a coconut milk base. We ordered the Strawberry cake and key lime pie but we got a raspberry cake and key lime pie. The order of the sweets was indicative of the poor service. Although the server(s) were friendly they were not attentive. They spent most of the time in the open kitchen chatting away without much regard to our needs. We had to ask for water refills 2 times. I personally had to get up and ask for service at least 3 time during the meal. Really pretty unacceptable. The lack of service was annoying and really put a damper on the meal which is not want you want especially during a birthday dinner. I normally tip at least 20% or higher but I only gave them 15% for their lack of service. We had to valet our cars because there was no parking to be found on a Monday night at 8pm in the area.

We consider ourselves fortunate (if not downright spoiled) to live within walking distance from the Blue Plate Oysterette on 3rd Street. It has never disappointed, has always been delicious--whether we are trying out the chef's concoction of the day, the lobster macaroni and cheese, or a platter of raw oysters--and the service is always friendly.

Great service. Wait staff knows what they're talking about. Terrific cocktails. Corn soup with Crab was a big hit, as always. Bouillabaisse was perfection. Save room for the Key Lime Pie.

Probably wont be back here. I remember the one in Santa Monica being much better. Food is far overpriced for quality. I ordered the shrimp cobb salad, perhaps its just preference but I think all shrimp on salads should grilled and warm. These were rubbery cocktail shrimp cut up. Just felt and tasted off. My friend's broccolini was overcooked and had that grey-green hue. Not bright green like broccolini should be. Too many great restaurants in LA to spend your money at, don't waste your time here.

Casual, seafood-centric. Oysters were great. Split a few dishes with friends- monkfish and miso black cod tacos were excellent. The surprise however was dessert, the key lime pie was a-m-a-z-I-n-g! Don't pass that up.

We celebrated our Anniversary here. It was great. Seafood was very fresh. Our server Reid, was delightful. Super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We winged it and we're very happy with the results. Started with the seafood tower. My husband has the seared ahi tacos and I had the black cod tacos. Both were delicious. We had mango sorbet for dessert. I don't usually like sorbet but it tasted like they made it there. No syrupy after taste. Everything was perfect. I definitely recommend it!

Loved everything about the restaurant except the price of the oysters. Never have I seen them so expensive. We wanted to eat a lot of them, but felt like we were throwing money away. They were delicious, as was all the food, but to my mind -- way overpriced.

I took my bf to this restaurant for his birthday to try out because he loves seafood. The atmosphere was pretty lively and the service was great. We ordered four random dishes which actually came in a nice order. First was the raw half dozen oysters (Blue Plate Surfers) which were quite smaller than expected. Second was the New England Clam Chowder which had decent amount of clam in ratio to the potatoes. Third dish was the Prawn Cocktail that was meaty. It had a nice chew, but slightly on the saltier side for my taste. Lastly was the Lobster Roll with fries which was quite delicious. We got the Undressed Lobster Roll which meant that the lobsters are warm and comes with a side of melted butter to top. The Dressed Lobster Roll meant that it was served cold and tossed in some kind of dressing (don't remember the exact words the server said). Overall, our experience was good but compared to other seafood restaurants we've been to, I believe this restaurant is slightly on the pricier side but I wouldn't mind coming back here to try their other dishes.

The Blue Plate resturants are generally a great time and an amazing meal. On this occasion, my first visit to the 3rd street location, I can say that Blue Plate is better visited on the west side. Our table requested only small oysters and we were provided two options, neither of which was a petite option. The wine suggestion made by the bar staff and waitress for a 'white wine with some minerality, that is not sweet' provided us with a bottle that was actually much too sweet. My date ordered a dine LA meal offered a 'new appetiser' which was a crudo, that was all but inedible. The most unfortunate part was that the waitress saw the plate which had hardly touched and asked for feedback, suggesting that she had heard several complaints about the new dish. Finally, the entree for which we came to dine at Blue Plate 3rd, was no longer available for the day (barramundi) and the suggestion was for the fish and chips, which came out over cooked. I'll be driving west for BP Oysterette or be trekking north to Connie and Ted's next time.

I dined here during Dine L.A. 2016. I ordered clam chowder for my 1st course. It was okay but I honestly I have had better. My 2nd course was the lobster roll undressed which came with broccolini and fries. This was all pretty tasty. My broccolini could have been a smidge softer but the flavor was yummy. My 3rd and final course was the key lime pie which was delicious. Parking is pretty bad in the area in general on a Friday evening but they do have valet available. Service was wonderful and I would definitely go back to try some other items.

We often dine at BPO and nearly always order the shellfish ceviche and white clam chowder. They are both fantastic. They make for an excellent light meal. My only complain about BPO is the value. $4.50 for iced tea? $25 for fried clams?
