Blue Bird Bistro
The idea behind blue bird bistro is a simple one. Actually, it's more an ideal than an idea. An ideal that starts with a passion for organic food and our desire to share its benefits. A belief in pure, all natural foods unburdened of artificial additives and preservatives. A responsibility to promote sustainable foods and the positive impact that it makes on our world. And a commitment to work closely with local farmers who share in these ideals.

Our server was excellent. The manager and staff successfully finished serving our family in under an hour because we had a church service to attend. The food was delicious. The only thing we could say needs attention is that regular dishes should be used instead of paper plates.
I have gotten the same server each time I have come. Each time the experience has been slow and inattentive. The restaurant has been at low capacity during our visits.
We have had good memorable experiences at Bluebird in the past. This was our first visit since Covid. Unfortunately, the food quality had gone down hill. Pancakes were tasteless, bison sausage tasted like poorly seasoned liver, tomato basil soup was salty with dried basil and more like a pasta sauce and the fried tofu was a weird cornmeal flavor. The salmon entree with vegetables was liked. Although the veggies looked like they came from a frozen bag. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Sadly, it was one of our favorite places and we won’t be going back.
Excellent organic restaurant! The food was amazing. Everyone loved the starters and entrées we ordered. The service was excellent as well. Overall, this restaurant is a must have experience!
Excellent food, gluten free options were abundant.
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing and so is the service. My favorite is the hamburger. By far the best I've ever had.
Food took 40 minutes and it was cold. All the servers looked frantic. Too many people crammed into one room despite COVID restrictions. Very disappointed compared to last time we visited.
Waited 40 mins for terrible food, some of which was cold. Waiter didn't talk to us again after we got our drinks. The food was also served on paper plates.
We are big fans of blue bird cafe but we were so disappointed with our meal. Our dinner was served on paper plates? Didn't make any sense because we had real silverware and wine glasses? I ordered the salmon with mashed potatoes. My meal arrived with salmon and rice? Not a fan of rice, I was told " we ran out of potatoes" I would have changed my order had I know this. Trying to support our favorite places during this time but this was disappointing.
Delicious food in a cute Victoria atmosphere. The drinks were delicious too!
We went here for Valentine’s Day. This was probably the worst meal I’ve ever been served at a restaurant. It cost over $150 for 2 people. The first course was advertised as a beet and black bean medallions. It was actually a black bean burger patty served on a paper plate. The center was lava hot and the edges still cold. This had clearly been microwaved and then served. The rest of the meal was worse. We couldn’t eat any of it and had to eat afterwards at home. The waiter seemed uninterested in the fact that each plate went back with all the food it had come with.
Very much enjoyed our experience here and will certainly be back. Great food with a good bar. Locally sourced!
I was overwhelmingly surprised at how great of an experience my wife and I had for Valentine’s Day at Blue Bird Bistro.
The service and ambience were excellent. The food was great in general, but the soup was just blended up green onions with ketchup drizzled on top. And the scallops had sand in them (maybe that's normal). Finally, the food was served on paper plates. In my opinion this is totally unacceptable when you are dropping $100 on dinner. I do really appreciate that they serve local foods that are organic, grass fed, et cetera.
We were extremely impressed with all of the Covid precautions put into place. The food was fantastic and the service was over the top. We had such a great time.
We were seated under the music speaker. Service was incredibly slow and it was empty. The food was pretty bad- the flavor was off and the value of the food was not good. I will not be returning and I do not recommend this place for breakfast.
Great service and unique food and drink options. Love!
Menu for Restaurant week was disappointing. Salmon was dry. Stock dish was okay but not for the price. Food was served on paper plates which was odd. Not sure if it was due to COVID
Came for restaurant week and was definitely disappointed. Got the sweet potato soup with blackberry swirl - was tasty but not very hot and on the sweet side. Would have functioned quite nicely as a dessert to be honest. Second course was pulled pork with sweet potato hash. Good portion size - in fact, it was a heaping plate of pork ... too much to balance with the amount of sweet potatoes. The dessert was an utter disappointment. It was chocolate mousse but was made with coconut milk and it was partially frozen. They had sprinkled cocoa powder and mini chocolate chips on top, which was the only part that actually contained any flavor. It was bland and thin, not like the rich, silky, chocolatey taste I was hoping for. After a cocktail and a tip, my bill was $60 ... for one person ... definitely not worth it I'm sorry to say.
The dessert I had lacked flavor and had large pieces of ice in it. But I still love this place.
Disappointing experience during restaurant week. I had never been and was excited to try it out. Server was pleasant enough, just very distracted talking to other staff. He kept forgetting flatware, napkins, and water. The food and presentation was the biggest disappointment, though. I don’t know if it was because of the pandemic, it being restaurant week, or if they always serve on paper plates.....it definitely cheapened the experience. My entree, the strip steak roulade, was room temp and underwhelming. It made me feel like they prepped all this way in advance to crank through as many customers as possible. For me, $35 for a meal and another $12 of a drink is a big deal. If I was a restauranteur during a pandemic, I would want to put my best foot forward to gain some loyal customers. This experience fell short.
While the food is all local sourced it was poorly prepared. A little more effort would bring it up a ton. soup was thick and not smooth. The food was all served on paper plates - trashy. The presentation was nothing special. The building is old and run down (I'm sure there are rules about what can be done because its "historical") but it was just really weird. It wasn't old-charming. it was old-creepy.
The service was so slow and this the 3rd and last time we will go. Each time the service is too slow and when items are out, the server needs to let the customer know that. We were told an appetizer was on its way and then 15 minutes later, we were told by a different server they were all out. Just kind of a mish mash of confusion there.
Restaurant week food was garbage. And served on paper plates
Came here for restaurant week. Definitely not a white tablecloth, as the photos represent. Served a 3 course meal on paper plates. Sweet potato soup tasted like warmed up sweet potato baby food - I wish I were kidding. The smoked tofu hash was good but slightly bland. The chocolate mousse tested like shaved ice with a sprinkling of unsweetened cocoa powder and cayenne, topped with a few chocolate chips. The drinks were good.
I'm a fairly optimistic person and give many benefits of the doubt, but this was an embarrassment. To charge $35 per person for a such lousy meal is not cool at all.
And the rationale for serving dinner on paper plates to be "covid safe" is contradicted by using non-disposable silverware. None of it made any logical sense.
This place may be decent for a lunchtime run, but to showcase themself for restaurant week in this manner is not good at all. A waste of money. I will not be returning.
Attended during restaurant week with a friend.
The starter of sweet potato soup with a blackberry sauce was good but tasted a bit too bland. The second course of salmon, quinoa and spinach was very good. The chocolate mousse was not good; it had a bland taste initially then a spice flavoring of some sort that stayed in the back of your throat.
The service was fantastic, the wine was great.
I will say that toward the end of our meal, my friend and I felt a bit too close to the other tables that were being seated.
It is restaurant week so I don't think they were staffed for this. I got the salmon and it was only cooked on the ends the middle was raw or as my husband said sushi. They did remove it from my bill that was appreciated. They served the food on recycled paper plate not a good idea since that paper just absorbs all the dressings , juices and any other liquid placed on the meal. Also the waitress set a table of 5 next to us not social distance at all. I will say the rest of the restaurant was practicing social distancing.
I was looking forward to this meal as I had eaten brunch at BBB previously and it was fantastic. We got there and service was extremely slow. They seemed more interested in accommodating the news crew then the patrons. I asked for warm water. I never got it. We ordered soup and some deviled eggs for an appetizer. We never received the eggs and the soup, which was in a paper bowl, was good but lukewarm. I sent mine back twice as it was cold the 2nd time around. By the time the 3rd was addressed I had them box it because I was finished with my entree. The entree and dessert were fine. They were served on paper plates. I had to ask 3 different people for water. Terrible service for a $80+ meal. Would go for brunch but not for a dinner service. Extremely disappointed.
Love this restaurant. Good food and wonderful gluten free and vegan options.
The food very average. I was served cold sweet potatoes mashed. They said this is how they were supposed to be served. Dessert white cake w raspberry sauce - very average. My husband got deviled eggs & very bland. Also his salad was drenched in dressing. Also food served on paper plates. This used to be my favorite restaurant now I don’t think we will return.
We enjoyed our girls brunch! Food was great! Many places do bottomless mimosas, it would’ve been nice to have an option like that.
Everything was perfect. The breakfast was awesome and the service was even better.
Fun, friendly, farm fresh scratch kitchen with great food and large portions. Perfect brunch with the girls :)
Such a cute place! Food was terrific. Loved that it was ran by the owner.
Good food... Good service... Great red wine. Will definitely return.
We had the Classic Benedict and a French toast hangover breakfast. Both were delicious! Also had the tequila Bloody Mary and whiskey Bloody Mary. Would definitely order both again. Next time I’m in KC, we will come back!
best biscuits and gravy I have had in a long time. Pricy (had the sausage upgrade) but real good
Thanks so much for a great food experience! Very fresh & tasty!
Super cute atmosphere too!
Excellent excellent!! Nice quiet outdoor seating with perfect weather to celebrate our anniversary with a fabulous brunch. Service was perfect and the bloody mary's and food were perfect
My sisters birthday! Food is always delicious and I felt like we were all safe. Thank you for always giving us the best experience!
