Fantastic place we felt so special on our wedding day! Thank you for making us feel welcomed and catered too. You all are amazing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Amazing staff and GREAT customer service! Love it! Can't rave enough!!
Eating at Blades is a real treat! We love the staff & the staff loves us!! Outdoor patio dining is so very enjoyable under the stars on a clear NM nite. The food is always thoughtfully prepared! A real work of love and presented wonderfully! The wine list has great selections too!
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Owner was wonderfully engaged with our group.
Always a good meal and enjoyable experience. One of our continual favs.
As we eat our way through the menu, we’ll review. Blades has become our local neighborhood bistro. This is a positive review with a bit of constructive criticism. Started our meal with crab cakes, meh. Both of us lived in Florida and northern east coast for many years, and expect chunks of meat in a crunchy, seasoning-balanced crab cake. These were over processed and had too much breading filler for our taste. Not tapas quality, so don’t recommend. The Smoked Asian Style Baby Back Ribs were unctuous and were unctuous and delicious and generously portioned. The pommes frites were perfect. The chicken francaise was also a generous portion along with the house mashed potatoes, making every bite wonderful. Blades prepares authentic Parisian bistro fare, and that you can expect without disappointment.
Blades may be the only restaurant in New Mexico that pays no mind to New Mexican cuisine, yet I find myself there again and again. It’s a decidedly European menu, heavy on sauces and specials from the continent. Though this last meal was bison brisket and divine. Ive earn here four or five times in as many months, always remarkably good, especially for New Mexico-where it can be tough to find good service, food, and ambience at the same time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Blades. Our appetizers and entrees were delicious. Our server was attentive and made sure we were comfortable and tended to. We will certainly be back and recommend Blade’s for your dining.
This is a great neighborhood place for those in Placitas, but was also well worth the 30 minute drive it took us to get there. Every small town deserves at least one restaurant this good. We'll be back.
Always enjoy the food, ambience, and service! Love that this is in our new neighborhood!
Feature an intimate, friendly atmosphere with excellent service and gourmet food. Everything about Blades' Bistro is conducive to a pleasurable evening with some nice surprises on the menu and your plate. People who are in Albuquerque would make a mistake by not driving the additional 15 minutes to get to this understated jewel. I REALLY like it.
Chef is exceptional. Don’t be fooled by shopping center location. This place provides first class dining.
Our favorite place to eat. It’s perfect every time!
a hidden gem! overall nice vibe, good service, food and wine! will be back!
We enjoyed a very nice dinner out. Sat indoors, and the food was served with full flavor. Had frutti de mare which had plenty of seafood (scallops/shrimp), rich, and wonderful. Our appetizer was calamari. It had a very crunchy crust but was so tender and not over-cooked or rubbery. There was a sauce, and the coating had a subtle sriracha that was wonderful. My husband got the schnitzel which was a special for that night. He said it was wonderful. We had asked for an indoor seat through open table, but that didn't get communicated to the restaurant. So we did have to wait 10 mins., but that wasn't bad at all.
We ordered the Smokey Caesar salad, which was stellar. (Smoke provided by smoked trout.) No wonder it’s a favorite among reviewers here. Caprese salad was delectable. We ordered the seafood fish special; so good we had no leftovers despite the generous portion. (Open Table app not allowing me to post photos.)
A hidden gem which is always so nice to visit when we are in New Mexico
They screwed up our my reservation seating requirements, blamed me for it, then lectured me on how to get it right next time. I ordered a before-dinner cocktail but was told that they no longer have full bar service - one of the things I had enjoyed about the place in the past. The menu was battered and grungy and apparently hadn't been reprinted for a long, long time. The food was ordinary. Blade's was our favorite restaurant before the pandemic. It has apparently gone downhill since then.
We were outside, nicely set up for the mandates.
Excellent all around dining experience. This lovely place is a real gem in Placitas.
Very good food. Our first visit but definitely not our last.
A hidden gem in a small community.
Enjoyed our meals: fruitti de mare, wedge salad (ice berg wasn't very green), peach mozzarella salad, veal chop. Nice patio that could do with some nice pots of flowers!
This is a first visit review of what will become our routinely visited neighborhood bistro. This is a positive review even with what I hope will be read as constructive criticism. Yes, this is a bistro in every sense. The food is competently prepared, but some menu items are better than others.
The fried calamari appetizer maybe isn’t ready for the menu. I order this appetizer everywhere I go. Blades’ uses the very fleshy body rings, no tentacles. It’s probably a frozen product, so the breading has to be creative to create that Mediterranean crispness. These weren’t. They were greasy but cooked perfectly. (Thick calamari rings should have the bite slightly harder than a hard boiled egg white. These were.) The garlic aioli drizzle was delicious, but the blue cheese dipping sauce didn’t belong. Marinara sauce was conspicuously missing.
Wife ordered the mahi fish special. Breaded and pan fried, it was moist and very good, but the hollandaise needed more lemon, especially on seafood. The red mashed potatoes were excellent. I ordered the NM-NY strip with herbed butter accompanied by pommes frites. This was authentic Parisian bistro fare. My memories of Paris returned with every bite. The fries were cooked to crunchy perfection. This dish is a big win for this restaurant.
Oh, did I mention the generous portions? Both of us took a little less than half of our dinners home to enjoy the next day. Maybe we got too full of the greasy but tasty appetizer. Next time, we’ll stick to the salad appetizers. The roasted beet with goat cheese salad sounds really good.
Blades never lets me down. They staff is awesome and the food is amazing!
We love this restaurant and are always happy to be back there. The patio area is comfortable and has enough covering to accommodate a rainy evening. The menu is varied and interesting. Last evening's watermelon gazpacho was a delicious and different treat. And oh those peanut butter and chocolate truffles! The only down side is beer and wine only but there are definitely interesting choices of both.
We love our supporting local restaurants. We dine at Blades for special occasions…and just because. The owners and staff always make sure we are well served. We highly recommend it.
Excellent service, nice laid-back ambiance on the patio, good food reasonably priced. Recommend this restaurant.
Had planned to eat outside on the patio for our anniversary. But a strong wind and light rain moved in. They were able to accommodate us inside with just a little wait, even though the tables were well spaced out. The food, service, wine, and atmosphere were outstanding, as usual.
First time for us at Blade's and it was an excellent experience. We enjoyed the Coconut Shrimp appetizer as well as the Fresh Salmon and Shrimp Stir Fry and Blackened Seared Yellow Fin Tuna as entrees. The staff was very attentive and helpful with suggestions as we made our selections. There is a nice courtyard that makes for pleasant outdoor dining.
Beautiful evening on the patio with great friends, food, and wine at a awesome little restaurant with employees who treat you like family.
Anja, the hostess and owner was welcoming and charming. The food was outstanding - absolutely the best smoky Caesar salad ever and the roasted Brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious. The service was unobtrusive but attentive. We could not have had a better evening dining out.
Perfect, intimate, enjoyable experience. Food was delicious!
Great place food is always good!
Server or kitchen forgot one of appetizers. Took it off the bill but would have been nice part of dinner. Not enough servers; they were running to keep up.
Food. Service. Ambiance
Great patio dining
The service was super friendly and the food was absolutely amazing!
Always excellent food at Blades' Bistro and this experience did not disappoint. We enjoyed the crab cakes special, split a very good wedge salad, and enjoyed both entrees thoroughly--Con Frutti di Mare and the Horseradish Crusted Ribeye. One of the best features of Blades' Bistro which remained true is the small but well-curated wine list. Another win for Blades'. We will be back.
Excellent food and wine that is served expertly by a friendly, knowledgeable staff in a comfortable atmosphere. Especially good for a time with friends or a romantic get away. Easy access from all surrounding communities, including Santa Fe. On my list of the ten best restaurants in the state.
Good food. Great service.
