Great meal! Lamb shank and steak au poire on point!
Excellent food as always. We no longer live in Placitas, but when we are there we try to fit in a meal at Blades. It is a great option if you appreciate truly FINE dining and are tired of the ubiquitous "New" Mexican palate-burning "everything's better with chile" fare. Our waiter could have used more training--he forgot our request for a second glass of wine and came to take our plates by reaching across our table--essentially presenting us with the other dirty plates he was carrying. Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but seeing someone else's dirty plate brought to my table was a turn-off. I guess if he did it behind my back, I wouldn't have even noticed. I wish Blades would add some sound dampening--it is a very live room that makes quiet conversation impossible. The mood lighting is nice--just wish the sound was as soothing. My husband raved about the lamb shank and I thoroughly enjoyed the sole meuniere and delicious grilled vegetables. We've had the roasted beets with goat cheese as an appetizer on a previous visit (maybe with blue cheese) and enjoyed it again this time.
Nice evening with friends out on the patio. It had rained so they had room for us under the portal. Good food and good service.
Amazing as always great restaurant if there is just 2 of you try sitting at the bar at kitchen. Chef is good company
My favorite restaurant. Never disappoints! Food and service are always terrific!
The food, service, etc. was excellent as always. The best days are the weekdays- less crowded, quieter.
First time visiting Blades Bistro for a Father’s Day brunch. Outstanding - will be returning soon!
We had a wonderful brunch (as usual). The food was very delicious. We are lucky to have this restaurant in Placitas!
Friendly, casual and great service. The food was perfect!
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a smiling hostess who sat us at a table in the middle of the room. We asked if a booth was available, and although there was nothing available at the time, our request was cheerfully accommodated within a few minutes after clearing dishes from previous diners. We enjoyed our appetizers of crab cakes and sliced tomatoes and mozzarella, although the crab was slightly overcooked. They have a $25 wine menu on weekdays, but we were having seafood and requested chardonnay which wasn't available at that price. There was only one chardonnay option and the waiter commented that their selection wasn't like most chardonnays which were the equivalent of eating a stick of butter. Since we had already said that that was our favorite type of wine, we thought that comment was uncalled for. All the entrees were nicely presented and well seasoned with balanced flavors. I was unable to finish my seafood linguini and the waiter boxed it for me. When I got home, I saw that the seafood shells which I had put to the side of the plate were thrown in with the rest. I thought that was rather careless. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner in a very quaint and charming atmosphere and think it's worth the drive to Placitas.
A true hidden gem. We will be regular customers from now on.
Good comfort food but also very good bistro food, nice patio but the sun umbrellas weren't up and they were needed. We had a nice table in the shade but would have preferred sun with an umbrella. Great bird serenade throughout brunch. The service here is usually very good but our waiter this time failed to refill coffee even after he was asked and seemed generally distracted and detached. This was countered by the visit by the co owner, Anya, who is always welcoming and friendly.
This is a wonderful restaurant, a bit out of the way but you will love the drive. We who live in Placitas are so happy to have access to fine dining right in our own back yard!
The food has never disappointed us, every member of the wait staff we’ve had have been great, and the owners are always charming and gracious.
We love this restaurant. Great food and service. It is a hidden gem in Placitas
mediocre food...mediocre service...why bother?
Some restaurants are not worth a 50 word review
Blades Bistro is my favorite for fine dining. The food is always wonderful and it was this time too when my daughter treated for Mother's Day.
The wait staff was friendly and efficient, even though they were terribly busy.
We are very lucky to have such a good restaurant in Placitas. We do our best to support it so that this hidden gem stays. Owners are almost always there and it’s been neat to get to know them better.
Varied menu so there should be something to fit most taste buds. I have never had a bad meal. In fact I don’t remember having an average meal. All have been very good to great.
We went for a special occasion (my 65th birthday) and even mentioned it on our Open Table reservation. The restaurant is small and overfilled this Friday night. It was painfully loud the entire time we were there. Even though we made reservations early we had a terrible table right next to a large noisy group. We sat for quite a while with no service other than our menu. When the waitperson did show up she wanted to know if were ready to order - no welcome, no water, zip. It felt like we were at Denny’s. We ordered brussel sprouts for an appetizer- they were over cooked and dry. My filet was good as were the sides. My husband’s seafood dish portion was very small. The wine list has a good selection for a small restaurant but not very high quality wines. I wish we had left once seated but didn’t. I had to leave while my husband waited 15 minutes to get a to go box and the check. To top it off we got a call late at night telling us we didn’t leave the credit slip, not sure what happened but we didn’t take it. This was our 3rd trip and we will likely not return. There seems to be more interest in making money than delivering a quality dining experience. Oh - no mention of my birthday either.
Had folks in town visiting from Tucson and I wanted to show them the best neighborhood restaurant in New Mexico and as always, Blades excelled.
This place is consistently delicious, friendly, creative.
The food was delicious and I had a number of gluten- free options.
I truly believe Blades’ Bistro is one of the best hidden secrets in the ABQ area. A little out of the way, but well worth the drive. The chef is amazing and the staff very accommodating.. Excellent spot for date night.
Chef Kevin consistantly puts out excellent food! Blades is one of our very favorite area restaurants!!
Great food, always busy. Not the greatest layout of tables, but very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. The roasted beets appetizer is delicious!
I love this place. The menu is excellent and the specials always delight
The food as always was excellent. Great selections, well prepared, excellent quality. We were getting together with friends and the noise level was so high it was difficult to talk without shouting and difficult to hear. The service was adequate but slow especially for drink orders. Despite slower service and high noise level will still return and recommend Blades for the food and friendly management.
Fantastic food as usual! We especially enjoyed the escargot app special and my wife enjoyed the paella dinner special. My steak au poivre was wonderful as always. Our server Sean was great, prefect balance of attention and service! Can’t wait to come back!
As usual, Chef Kevin prepared an outstanding meal!
Easter Brunch was awesome!!! I will definitely come back for normal Sunday Brunch. The food was amazing. Table ready exactly on time. Service was great, the owner is one of the ‘team.’ And the value for the meal was out of sight - chain restaurant prices for European cuisine. Hidden gem.
Shawn our waiter was great! Very experienced wait staff. Owner, Anya, greeted us and checked on us during the meal. Alex, the bar tender has a really good “bar tender” personality! We enjoyed sitting at the bar before dinner. A great place to meet new neighbors too. Nice outdoor patio too. Food was delicious. Very accommodating. Overall, really good experience!
Food presentation and food taste were both high quality, I would say exquisite! We had heard good reviews from friends and yet everything still surpassed our expectations. It's great to dine out and for a change, feel like it was worth every penny!!!
Excellent service. Best scallops. Went for a date night. Enjoyed the crowd and wait staff. Bring your wallet but it is worth it!!
Excellent as always! This is a great place to take out of town guests. Blades never disappoints!
Great - as always! We will go back time and time again.
The prix fixe meal of salad cioppino and creme brûlée was perfect
The food was very good. The service was outstanding. Had an enjoyable Saturday evening. I wish it could have been a little bit quieter, but and overall very nice restaurant.
as always, Blades never fails to impress my most discriminating guests. from start to finish, Blades is consistently excellent. They have elevated it to one of New Mexico's premier dining experiences. my friends listed as their "new favorite restaurant" . Keep up the great work!
Great food and drinks. Wait staff was not sufficient for volume of people being served.
The rural setting is an ideal location for this venue. We enjoyed the intimate, casual feel of the restaurant. The food and service were excellent and we will be suggesting it to friends and family members.
