Dinner: Sunday-Thursday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm Friday and Saturday: 5:00pm - 11:00pm
Birthday— friends get together. Restaurant was very empty, service was poor. Food was cold by the time we got it. It was a shame— we had heard great things but left disappointed.
Food came out cool - felt like preparation was more suited for a wedding and not dinner. The restaurant was not busy when we arrived for our reservation. The highlight were the drinks - which is something you can imbibe in without the underwhelming food.
I wouldn’t go back to this place. A waste of time and money. Everything from the mgmt to the food was awful.
Pros: delicious burger + fries, the cheeseboard is immaculate (and serves 4 ppl), good wine selection, convenient if stay at hotel
Cons: service was slow, bar was somewhat vibrant but restaurant was not
Delicious avocado toast and egg whites! I ordered a peppermint mocha and it was to die for.
Food was not that tasty. I had the strawberry field salad, but the dressing didn’t pair great with the salad and very limited strawberries in the salad.
Also ordered the zucchini ribbons which are about 1/10 of a centimeter wide of actual zuchinni and then disproportionately smothered in fried batter that was overly salty.
Also ordered the salmon entree since they were out of the salmon appetizer and the portion of the entree maybe the size of a half of a hand, but it tasted fine, nothing special.
Additionally the waiter offered to cover the first round of drinks since we were celebrating a birthday (3 of us). Then at the end of our meal he said he couldn’t find his manager to comp the drinks so he offered us a free dessert instead. To me, this was unprofessional. So we asked him to go look for his manager again. Then he came back and said he found the manager and can only comp one drink. Again, not entirely professional.
Otherwise, the ambiance was great. It looks classy and it stayed pretty quiet.
This is our 4th or 5th trip to this restaurant. Food is mediocre. Service was slow and slightly inattentive. The restaurant staff are oddly dressed no real uniform some look like kitchen staff serving tables others looked like they were ready to work at the front desk of the hotel. Very inconsistent. The wait to order was a bit long. Omelettes were dry, toast cold, extra small portion of breakfast potatoes and missing toast for one of our meals. Manager offered a muffin “to go” as a replacement. Over all we were disappointed and after paying $60 for brunch with no alcohol we probably won’t be back.
Food was delicious and the live music was great
The good: the flank steak was perfect! And the three pepper sauce was the perfect complement.
The bed: spinach ravioli was no better than any chain “Italian” restaurant.
The ugly: the service! Our waiter, Larry, was incredibly condescending and dismissive. There was an extraordinary wait for the food, and even longer for bar service.
The verdict: doubtful I would give them another shot. Too bad, because we liked the menu and the location.
service was very slow. Food was mediocre, slow to refill drinks and then messed up on the check.
Establishment within the Le Meridien is beautiful. Service was great and attentive, but the food is another topic. Flavors were good, but food came out room temperature. Being we were literally the only ones in the restaurant at the time, I would have expected better. The bar was great after dinner for a drink, coffee and dessert.
Considering the price and the fact that it is a La Meridien hotel I would expect better quality food. I was there for breakfast and two of us ordered omelets with a side of bacon. The eggs were dry and the bacon was like beef jerky.
This place has potential but..... service was not good. At noon there were 4 tables. They need some help
Really neat knowing the building itself was a Federal Courthouse. The lay out of the restaurant was well done. The décor was great. The food was quite good; everyone in the group enjoyed their dish. I believe you get what you pay for at this establishment. I look forward to my next visit here.
This restored historical building is a gem in downtown Tampa. The service was excellent - very responsive and friendly. Had the pasta and Brussels sprouts - would order that again! While we didn't visit the bar on this trip, we would recommend it. The physical layout of the bar lends it itself to a sense of connectedness with other patrons. We'll be back.
Great food, decent service. Bartender was very helpful at getting us something we'd like rather than the most expensive item.
Very good was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Steaks perfectly cooked!
It was a great location. Great food and prices. I drove 1hr to eat there. Server was very attentive.
Bizou is located inside the Le Meridien hotel in downtown Tampa. It has a really nice atmosphere and I had a really enjoyable time dining there. The food was delicious and the service was superb!
Elegant and original looks, great ambience. The food was bland, was not impressed.
We celebrated my birthday and I was given my choice of Dessert. It was a special meal and place. The setting was a renovated courtroom and my best friend, Les, is a retired attorney who recalled when the building was a court house.
It would have been nice to know that the restaurant was being renovated and they were in a temporary bar downstairs. I would have come at a different date.
Food was great. Enjoyed the atmosphere. We had drinks at the bar first and then had dinner. Made reservations for dinner after being at the Straz.
The staff was very attentive (great job Larry) and the food was very good. The bar staff was very knowledgeable and the drinks were consistent. Couple the staff with the unique decor of the old court house and the great menu offerings; Bizou becomes a "must try" for anyone dining in Tampa.
The food was so amazing and affordable. I love the style of the restaurant and bar. Music was a perfect pairing with the setting. Our server Anna was the best!!!
The food was less than mediocre. The menu changed from being unique and innovative to just regular food that you can get anywhere. My husband had the prime rib- which he said was just okay.. and I had the lobster ravioli- it was cold. It is disappointing to see such a cool spot be so bland. It was also dead- no vibe at all. If you are looking for a quiet place to eat- then it will do. The bar area was very quiet. If you are a foodie and someone who enjoys a good fun atmosphere, don’t bother!
The service was absolutely horrible. Would not recommend if you are willing to spend good money on average food. We waited nearly an hour for our food between the starter and entree, and the waiter avoided the table. At high dining time the restaurant wasn’t even full, so there was no excuse on the poor quality. At the end of the meal he apologized for our wait and had the nerve to blame it on the kitchen staff. Regardless, attentiveness is key to good service. You should never have to ask a hostess to fill your water after 30 minutes because the waiter is MIA attending to other tables. If you like attentive service, do not go here. In addition, it was clear from the audible conversation between management and the server that our food had been missing. A competent manager would have at least checked on the table.
We took advantage of the $30 three course meal offered during Tampa Bay Restaurant Week. Excellent food and service in this hip hotel in converted courthouse.
My steak was cooked to perfection! I wish they had bigger portions of vegetables!
Early father's day breakfast. Yummy...needed mimosas
Live music was a bit too loud for us but liked it overall.
Food was awesome and the atmosphere was relaxing
Service was extremely slow. There was nobody in the restaurant upon arrival and yet it took over an hour to receive our food. One dish didn't show up, and one dish was mixed up with another order.
Great building and restaurant!
Excellent breakfast, excellent service and I would definitely eat here again while in Tampa.
Excellent service and food as always . We LOVE Bizou
As residents of Tampa, we’ve been wanting to try the Bizou restaurant at Le Meridian hotel. Given the reputation of Le Meridian hotels in general, we looked forward to a nice late evening dinner at he hotels primary restaurant.
Wow. What a disappointment. The service was fine. The cocktails were good. But the food was awful. We had fairly simple dishes. The salmon for my wife was more than well done (should have been medium rare to medium),completely over seasoned and over salted. Wasn’t edible and we left it behind. My steak chimichurri was cold, way over cooked - beyond medium which was ordered and more like well done plus plus plus. And room temperature cold. The only good thing was the potatoes accompanying my wife’s salmon. Overall very disappointing experience. With so many options of excellent dining in Tampa, no reason to ever go back. Feel sorry for overnight travelers who end up there just because they are staying there.
We stopped at McDonald’s on way home for a bite since the food was so bad.
In fairness, we did mention our disappointment to the new manager (Eddie I think) upon leaving, but we just wanted to leave. He offered to make our next experience there much better, but I’m not sure it is worth the time. Very disappointing.
Memorial weekend brunch in a historic building is amazing. Breakfast was good but ambiance is what makes restaurant special!!
Very good food. Had excellent table service. Good portion size. Intimate, cloistered-feeling ambiance. Live music - at a significant-enough distance as to be pleasant and not overpowering. Overall, the experience was outstanding. We'll be going back soon!
