Excellent food. The mushrooms and sauces in particular were outstanding. The wine, however, was not a good value. We chose a bottle of Barolo. It was pretty good. Pleasant but only mediocre and priced far too high for what it was. Would not do that again. We would recommend Bistro Barbes for the food but warn a friend about the wine.

We have been customers of Bistro Barbes since it opened. Its quiet, the service is superb and the food is delicious. I would recommend Bistro Barbes to anyone searching for a different dining experience.

This is a special restaurant. John is a brilliant chef and part of the whole experience is watching him cook and do all of the front-of-the-house work on his own. I ate as slowly as I could so I could enjoy the food for as long as possible. Fantastic texture, flavors, and presentation all around. The Moroccan tea cake stole the show for me.

We completely loved our entire experience tonight. The food was top notch. We added the wine pairings and were not disappointed. Not only were the wines thoughtfully matched to each course, they were from around the world and ones unfamiliar to us. Can’t wait to go back!

If you're looking for a one of a kind meal prepared on a small very personal scale (only 8 or 9 people at a time) DON'T miss this place. The food is exquisite! Best meal we have had since dining out again.

My wife had a good meal. I did not enjoy the salad and the osco busco was over cooked. The owner was great as he is waiter, cook and busboy. I do not agree with a prix fixe meal only. There shouldd be other choices. For the price and the charge for the wine pairing I would not return. I would not have ordered what we were served.

This was one the most incredible meals of our life. It was the first time in 15 months that my partner and I have eaten indoors at a restaurant. Bistro Barbes has always been a favorite of ours so we thought it would be the perfect place to go for the occasion. It was. Chef/Owner Jon Robbins, was the only person working and did everything; greeting, cocktails, service and food and it was absolutely perfect, The 4-course set menu was unique and beyond delicious and his execution was flawless. There were 14 people having dinner and you would have thought there was a full compliment of staff. It was without a doubt one of, if not the most, memorable dining experiences of our lives. Beyond brilliant.

We had an excellent meal at Bistro Barbes. The tasting menu was delicious and everything was prepared perfectly with a wonderful collection of interesting flavors. Great service and ambiance too.

I celebrated my birthday at Bistro Barbes. There were two other tables dining at the same time as us. The head chef was the only one cooking and serving. He did everything and impressed us mightily! We had the most amazing 4 courses and the service was warm and timely. It was so nice to be back after a long time.

Nice little French bistro!!

What an amazing surprise! Beautiful presentation and deliciously "French" style that my wife and I thought we were back in Beaune, France. If you want to go healthy and gourmet at the same time...this is the place for you. To top it off the dessert was unique,
but it tasted even better than the beautiful presentation.

It's going to our top of the list for one of the best restaurants in Colorado if not equal to
any we've been to in our many travels in the U.S. and Europe.

No negative comments to make. Food was excellent as was the service. Ambiance is ok. It's a little pricey but not too bad.

Found Bistro Barbes a bit by accident a couple of months ago and decided to return for their Valentine’s tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was once again delicious, with fresh and unique dishes. The wine pairings were spot on, and the staff here is wonderful. I’m always nervous when I have a great first time experience that it was “beginner’s luck”, but Bistro Barbes secures a place in my roster of regular joints to visit with this second outing. I would rate this as one of the best restaurants in Denver, made even more special by their off the beaten path location and small, intimate dining room. Go now, before the rest of the city books it first.

This is a tough review, I'm not sure what Barbes wants to be. Having spent two weeks in Paris and Bordeaux a month ago, I was excited to visit this restaurant, but left a little disappointed. The mark-up on wine was exorbitant, the food was good, not great, and the service was slow and not well informed of the menu.
There aren't many French options in Denver, and I hope for the best for Barbes, but I won't be visiting again soon.

This is one of the best restaurants in Denver. We dine here regularly and always order something from all four courses-everything is always delectable and unpretentious and beautifully prepared. We just celebrated our anniversary there on Sat night and the dinner was out of this world. The service is also excellent. And the restaurant feels like the best of a Parisian bistro, but with a twist that the food is lighter, more flavorful and global, and more innovative. I love that the food leans in the direction of North African, which makes it more interesting.

I love this little gem in east Denver. The food is very good and creative. The wine list is extensive for the size of the restaurant. We particularly like the appetizers - try all of them! You will love the French bread, warm and soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside.

Bistro Barbes is a gem in the northern Park Hill neighborhood that is in transition. An attractive
apartment building is being constructed at 28th Ave. & Fairfax. The Greater Park Hill office is around the corner. Truly a unique restaurant in a unique setting.

Cute and cozy restaurant, impeccable service, tasty food and and great wine selection to be paired with the food. We had a great time and are sure we will be back! Thank you for having us!

Bistro Barbes is one of the best restaurants in Denver. I would recommend the food, service and wine selection to anyone who enjoys beautiful, creative and delicious food.

This is one of the best dining experiences in Denver. The place is low key and kind of hard to find. The service is terrific and the food even better. It's French-inspired food that you won't find other places in Denver. It's worth every second you spend in Bistro Barbes.

Do not miss an opportunity to dine at this restaurant! Rarely do you ever have a meal where every course, every dish is superbly delicious...the wait staff were excellent. The restaurant is cozy and small, like you are in a French restaurant in Paris. The drinks, so good. The experience, memorable. We look forward to the next time.

Very quaint bistro. Excellent cocktails. Great fresh salad with very unique flavors. Limited entree options. Seafood not quite as fresh as expected.

Food was mediocre and bland and limited and boring options for vegetarian dining companion. It was a disappointment for the price.
