Bistro Barbes is an underappreciated neighborhood jewel in Park Hill. It is owned and managed by some friendly Denver natives with an appreciation for fine food and drink. They have a limited menu each night but what they do serve is prepared exquisitely. It's not inexpensive but it shouldn't be. The food and service are truly outstanding. Don't overlook Bistro Barbes when you are looking for an outstanding meal in Denver. You will surely find one there.
Wonderful food, outstanding service - all that one could want to celebrate the evening! I like supporting small businesses that work hard to make the experience a memorable one- well done! And, I’ve recommended it twice since eating there. Did I mention that the food was beautifully seasoned, a superb mix of flavors and textures- and had a wow factor!
One of the best meals in Denver. Original, innovative high quality cuisine. Hidden Denver gem.
Wow! What an unexpected pleasure for a Wednesday night! Treat yourself to squash salad...yum, gnocchi....perfectly toasted , the cod dish was exquisite, hanger steak...to perfection. And the presentation!
A small business chef/owner that exceeds so many! Oh ya, the fruit tart-what an ending to excellent service and the best meal I’ve had in ages. An we eat!!!
this is a neighborhood gem! Fantastic food and service! Small menu but the options are awesome and the menu changes every few weeks.
We are so proud to have this gem of a little bistro in our neighborhood and we eat here often! Love that the menu changes often. The Icelandic cod was cooked perfectly and the poundcake with chocolate ganache, blueberry ice cream and shaved foie gras knocked our socks off!
This spot is divine! Never disappoints!
had this place on my radar for a long time...kicking myself in the butt for not doing it sooner.
Neighborhood restaurant. Very comfortable and relaxing. Small restaurant with interesting menu. Friendly service. Small but decent wine list.
The food was delicious and served with an artistic presentation. The waiter was knowledgeable about wines and found our guests a wine they liked .that was not on the menu. This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with continental cuisine.
From the appetizer to dessert, every single bite was perfection.
The food is as good as the 18th arrondissement in Paris without the price tag.
One of the greatest meals I've ever had.
This was our anniversary and we were greeted with two glasses of prosecco. My husband, who rarely finds eating out worth the cost, said this was the best meal he had had at a restaurant in a long time. I agreed with him. The portions were just right, the food delicious, and the service excellent.
Excellent food and service. No problems with reservations. I would highly recommend.
Somewhat limited menu but all dishes our friends and we ordered were genuinely outstanding. Cozy Park Hill spot. Highly recommended.
Wonderful meal, wonderful staff. And now I'm typing to get over 50 characters.
This was our second time having dinner at Bistro Barbes. Our dinner (Hanger Steak) and the fish were prepared perfectly and were very tasty. The tabouleh was not what I have been used to. For sure, it was not the middle east traditional tabouleh, but none the less, it was good. My two issues were the poor selection of wine by the glass. I tried the California Pinot Noir, which was very unimpressive. They did not have a Cabernet by the glass. Their Cote du Rhone was good, but they ran out of that wine.
Great ambiance, creative and delicious food! Very friendly/knowledgeable waitstaff. Neighborhood GEM.
Great service and food.
amazing food and romantic atmosphere. great spot for special occasions
We live in Skyland and have been meaning to dine at Bistro Barbes. We finally made reservations when we had foodie visitors in from Chicago. We all loved it -- the food & service were fantastic. Our only minor critique was that the appetizer salads were a bit small. We will for sure be back soon and will spread the word around our neighborhood over here on the other side of Colorado.
Great Food and service!
Our second visit. Once again, superb food and service. Menu items are different from the fare in traditional restaurants, and much more flavorful. We had the cod and the lamb entreés, and the octopus and the escargot appetizers; all were very tasty, with great flavor. We look forward to returning when we travel to Denver again.
Truly a great experience. Every single dish was perfectly executed, perfectly balanced and perfectly composed. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the location was truly tucked away in a completely unassuming location but it felt warm and inviting. I am definitely returning!!
Very small portions, even for fine dining/haute cuisine. Good tasting but not extraordinary. Not too fussy, which is nice.
Terrible wine list. We ordered a $150 bottle and it was off. My husband felt awkward returning it because the restaurant is so small and didn’t have many customers.
Wish we could be more excited to return to this cozy neighborhood spot.
We love the food, the environment and the service. Will be back soon!
What a hidden gem! Every item on the menu was unique and delicious. We enjoyed everything about the meal, the quiet ambiance and the pace - which was relaxed. This is a terrific spot if you want to avoid the noise and pace of downtown - try it, you will not be disappointed.
Out of the way, but well worth the search! Very low noise (only quiet music in the background) so conversations flourish. Service is attentive, but not intrusive. The food was outstanding (I had sea bass, my companion had the lamb cheek. Both were very tasty.). The wine list is fairly broad, with good quality selections. We're looking forward to our return visit.
The meal was excellent! Each different plate had so many interesting flavors! Love this place!!! Great little neighbor hideaway! Wonderful wine list as well!
Fabulous dinner from start to finish!
This was a AAA dining experience based on food and service.
The building was BBB+, but if they were in a higher rent district you'd pay more for your dinner. We highly recommend Cafe Barbes. It is a neighborhood gem in a great redeveloping neighborhood.
The food was delicious and the service fabulous. This is a small restaurant with a lovely menu.
Bistro Barbes is our favorite restaurant in all of Denver. It is delightful. The food is amazing, the staff professional and kind, the noise level quiet and nice. Can't say enough good things about the experience which we have over and over.
Didn’t realize this location was formerly Satchels. Had excellent meals of lamb and sea bass. Service was great with good wine pairings. Reminded us of a small restaurant in Paris.
Definitely a neighborhood gem. Look forward to another visit soon.
Wonderful meal. Each dish was beautifully prepared and presented. A true gem in an out of the way location.
Best food my husband and I have ever enjoyed. Must try. Absolutely wonderful.
Fantastic quaint local place with interesting menu and reasonable wines. If they could ever get an outside space approved for a few tables, it would be the cherry on top.
My husband and I loved our dinner at Bistro Barbes. The restaurant is very quaint and comfortable. The service was great and the food excellent. They have smaller portions so you can enjoy every course without feeling overly full.
Outstanding dinner with great server, Joshen (?). Odd little place in a residential area but worth searching out. Enjoyed our evening very much!
