Had a wonderful meal at Bishop's. On our table we had grilled octopus, steak tartar, and the burrata cheese salad. Grilled rack of lamb and beef tenderloin as our mains. Finished off the meal with the cheese plate and strawberry cheese cake. Everything was done really well with good flavours. I enjoyed my husbands rack of lamb over the steak, but both were really good. I would recommend visiting Bishop's for a nice meal and friendly staff.
Without a doubt, Bishop's is or family's favourite dining experience. Everything has been perfect every single time we have visited. Please don't ever close your doors!
Bishop’s has been our favourite for years.
Food and presentation was great. Service could be a bit better though.

Perfect from beginning to end. This is Vancouver’s best restaurant.
Excellent food and service. We enjoyed very much our meal. Hadn't been for a while but won't wait so long for next time. I hope they keep operating
Amazing food and service. Absolutely loved my meal here
John Bishop has long been one of Vancouver's most excellent restaurateurs. He has a reputation for encouraging and inspiring people working for him and that still shows at Bishop's in 2021. In rooms decorated to reflect our province, socially distanced diners experience faultless service and classic but creative cuisine. From the amuse-bouche to the final course, we were delighted.
After listening to compliments about the dessert special, our server talked about their recently graduated pastry chef working with Bishop's Spanish-born chef Macia Bagu to construct a dish that was not another uninspired version of crème caramel. Wow, did they succeed! The coconut flavoured result, with meringue, sugar glass and frozen custard, was a triumph. Despite perfection of the courses that came before, and my normally blasé attitude toward dessert, this small offering stays with me as memorable. Chefs doing something excellent that others can’t or won’t do just seems to fit in a John Bishop restaurant.

In the kitchen,
Always a lovely evening with delicious food and great service.
John's team delivers a wonderful dining experience very time we go. The menu is beautifully curated and brings a subtle continental touch to Pacific Northwest cuisine.
Amazing food and good services. Will come back again
It was a memorable ding experience. This establishment has been in the Vancouver food scene for many years and still maintains its quality and service. Absolutely love dining here.
We were lucky to get a last minute reservation. The servers seemed thrilled to see us. Everyone was courteous and genuinely friendly. The food was so well-prepared and delightful. The coconut dessert was just gorgeous, with a perfect melding of subtle flavours.
We started with the mussels with pommes frites, he had the sable fish, and I had the lamb. The presentation is so meticulous and the flavours blended so nicely together.
It's so awesome when your eyes can appreciate the food as much as your taste buds!
Bishops is a gold standard for dining out. Everything has always been excellent and I'm sorry it's closing. It is very pricey but if that doesn't bother you, hurry and visit while you still can.
It was a real treat to re-visit Bishop's again, even with the necessary CV19 measures in place. The service was as wonderful as always, and all the menu options were very appealing. Make sure to save room for one of the dessert creations!
One of the best dinner experiences I've had in years. Food was so perfect, I wish I could go back every week. Service was excellent, genuine and on point. What a perfect place for a special night.
Incredible service and great food!
The food was so bland and disappointing. There could have been so many other restaurants I would rather spend $200 on. Starter of steak tartare was not seasoned and so pedestrian. Burrata salad was okay but nothing special. Sablefish entree was tiny, left us hungry. Cannelloni was like something that I can make up from the instant pot. Service was good but really wished I went somewhere else to celebrate anniversary.
Thanks again for a lovely dinner. We brought our kids, ages 17, 15 and 12 with us this time. It was the first fine dining experience for 2/3 (our 15 yr old foodie came with us last time) and I feel we have now created a monster! Our 12 year old kept tasting everyone’s food, exclaiming, ‘oh WOW, THIS is good, too!’ She says it was the best food she’s ever had in her entire life. Our autistic 17 year old, very picky and afraid to try new things, was brave and was rewarded with the experience of trying and loving everything he ate, reinforcing that he can discover new things he likes if he’s brave enough to try. Abel and staff were gracious hosts, as per usual. We missed saying hello to John and will definitely bring our kids back again, as it was a great family night out. Thanks so much!
i have been coming to Bishops since i arrived in Vancouver back in 1995. It has usually been driven by occasion such a family birthday or Christmas etc. That said this was for my 50th birthday. I last was due to visit for my fathers birthday in December but because of their bubble abs the need for a second table we were not able to find a reservation.
We paid $50 for a corkage fee which is by far the most of any restaurant in Vancouver. One of the reasons aside from
it being my birthday is that the wines are usually naked up to 300% compared to 50-100 normally. If you can get past that the food is always stunning and the service is usually great. Unusually we noticed that a table that came in after us got way more attention and were served before us even though they arrived 15 minutes after us. I guess they were regulars and the service team knew them well but all the same that came at our expense and given that we were both quite hungry we weren't thrilled...
Overall the ambience and the food are always top notch and if you want the best of farm to table cuisine you can't go far wrong than visiting Bishops. I will be back despite these small issues we faced.
New Year’s Eve nice way to depart with old year
Service fantastic as always. Food delicious. Lemon dessert was so flavourful!
Bishop's, as always, was stellar. The food was amazing - I seriously considered having the tuna tartare appetizer as a dessert, it was so good. The wine was wonderful, the service had exactly the right level of connection - they were there when we needed them and not at all intrusive. John Bishop came by and chatted, which made us feel special .. Bishop's is truly Vancouver's best restaurant as far as I am concerned.
Outstanding food and service. Elegant presentation. My husband had the beef tenderloin which just melted in his mouth. My sablefish was very flavourful and well prepared. Service and ambiance is impeccable.
We loved our meal at Bishop’s. Absolutely everything was delicious. The staff are more than courteous. It also felt very safe to be there at this time with Covid. We would highly recommend you go before the place closes.
Classics, well executed. Absolutely delicious! Would definitely recommend and return.
Still the best food in Vancouver. John (Bishop) has a long history of delivering unbelievable quality in all aspects, his staff have been with him for years and have learned and deliver the same.
I haven't been to Bishop's in quit some time, but this meal reminded me of what I had been missing and why I had tired of much of the Vancouver restaurant scene.
Excellent service and great food.
Wonderful food and service. Glad I got to experience Bishop’s.
Hearing that Bishop’s run will be coming to an end, I knew I had to get in soon. Everything from my entry to my exit was exemplary. I could run on and on, about the service, food, and overall experience. If you’re able to get a table before the curtains fall upon the stage, you owe it to yourself to experience Bishop’s.
In these crazy times whenever we spend an evening in Bishops the world suddenly seems at peace.
Bishop's has been a family favourite for years. We were very happy to celebrate my daughter's 50th birthday there during the last months of Mr. Bishops tenure.
Wonderful in all respects.
I’m sorry I waited 35 years to dine at Bishop’s. Top notch from start to finish, food, service, everything. There were several regulars dining alongside us and I thought how lucky they were to have enjoyed such a wonderful restaurant time and time again.
We go to Bishop’s every year and it never disappoints, never. Drinks, food, service are always at the highest level. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Our favourite restaurant of all time. We enjoyed the beef tenderloin and scallops special. The steak may have been the best meat I’ve ever eaten and the scallops, perfection! Great job as always, Bishop’s. Thank you for a great evening!
A wonderful evening filled with memories gathered from visits over many years. As usual, the food was fabulous, the ambiance intimate and the service stellar. We will miss John, Abel, staff and the Bishop's experience so much.
The food was magnificent, the staff and owner were friendly and attentive. Its a great place for an event, sad that this place is closing down now.
Bishop's will seen be closing its doors for good. I recommend that anyone who has enjoyed Bishop's great food, stellar service, and warm environment try to visit one last time before the end of the year. Bishop's will be truly missed.
Amazing food, everything was delicious and really nice staff!
Everything was outstanding. From the moment we walked in to leaving. The food looks and tastes exquisite. I will miss Bishops and everything it stands for when John Bishop retires. Sigh...
