This is a very classy restaurant. John greeted me at the door with upmost respect.
I arrived by myself and my friend showed up about 10 minutes later. I wanted to order a snack or a drink, but the staff were waiting for my friend to arrive before taking care of me. I told one of the staff that I felt ignored.
Overall, the food was fresh and amazing, The ambience is chill. The service is very good.
I would love to return!
John is amazing. I am starting a food blog soon. He will be the first feature.
Thank you so much for an overall amazing experience.
Great food with excellent service. Would request the upper room next time for the artwork and coziness factor
I continued our Daddy-Daughter birthday dinner tradition with my now 35-year old girl at Bishop’s and it was very nice. The service was very attentive and the 3-course prix fixe plates were artistically presented (which meant pretty but sparse), quite tasty and fully priced ($65pp + supplements + 4 glasses of wine = $250 for 2).
We haven't been for some time as for some reason this amazing restaurant has been off our radar. What a mistake that was....lovely, helpful staff, incredibly beautiful and tasty food make this a winning choice for a romantic evening, a dinner with great friends or an adult family get together. We look forward to our next visit.
Cosy environment. Warm and good service. Food is good . Wine is good . Worth to introduce to friends and I will definitely come back again with my friends and relatives.
This is still the standard bearer for great dining, beyond merely fine dining, in Vancouver after 34yrs.
Excellent Dining Experience in great setting in the middle of Kitsilano.
The food is outstanding and service first class!
It was a lovely evening Everything was perfect from the moment we entered the restaurant
Have to say that the new limited menu at Bishops was a huge disappointment for choice I must hasten to add. It's been a few years since I was last there before recently and there used to be a lot more choice. That said the food quality was excellent and delicious. The value very good for the money versus quality. Service not up to what it used to be, but Vancouver has a service crisis and true serving professionals don't exist anymore. One has to accept this within the parameters that restaurants, even the top ones, are forced to work with.
We love Bishops, we have been twice and the people are lovely and the food is unbelievable. The only thing I recommend is to bring a light sweater or wrap in case you sit near the windows as I got pretty chilly between two(it’s the middle of winter). Sitting near any window anywhere in winter gets chilly :)
Excellent food well prepared and presented. Service was impeccable as it always is.
Bishops is one of our favs. It was slightly disappointing this time because it turned out to be a winterlicious / dineout menu even though they don't officially take part in it. Cheaper menu but limited options.
If they have the octopus carpaccio available when you go, GET IT
Birthday dinner. Great place as usual, however, prefer a regular menu eat this restaurant over pre-fix.
Had an amazing dinner with the best service. Gluten friendly & the food was outstanding.
Appies were outstanding, entres OK (black beans undercooked and potatoes very dry), desserts disappointing. Great wine and top notch service.
A lovely evening with attentive and knowledgeable staff. Food was delicious and presented nicely. All around great experience. Thanks
Excelente comida y servicio. Carta de vinos notable.
Fabulous service and food!
My favorite restaurant
Fantastic food and service. This is a must whoever we visit vancouver.
Still the best restaurant in town to celebrate something special AND have an amazing meal!!
We always enjoy our meals at Bishop's. We have been coming here for many years.
Went here for a date with my husband. Everything was perfect. The service is top notch. Would defiantly recommend.
lavacake was a bit dry but other than that loved everything about Bishop’s. def will return again in the future.
Bishop's never disappoints! From the time you are greeted at the front door to the time you leave, you are taken care of. Lovely meal, great wine.
It is one of Vancouver's crown jewels
We had an incredible anniversary dinner, from start to finish.
Amazing, once again!
From JB’s greeting at the door to the cocktails, waitstaff, service, ambience, good wine choices at a variety of price-points, excellent food - styling and flavour- it is all a top shelf experience. Our group of 7 lucked out because it happened to be Uber-quiet on this past THURS eve - and I am easily tired by and distracted in noisy rooms. I’ve been here when it was fuller and louder - but it’s still a lovely, cozy place. I recommend to colleagues travelling through Vancouver- if you only have one night in Vancouver and want fine food and service with comfortably sophisticated ambience a step away from downtown - choose Bishop’s. A long time vancouver gem.
Had another wonderful dinner here. The food was delicious as always. The service was great. They are always friendly and explain items on the menu. They made the night special by bring my husband a special Happy Birthday chocolate with candle. Can not wait for another reason to go there.
We enjoyed our meal with two friends visiting from Spain. They remarked on how good the European fusion aspect to the food was. Warm cozy setting for friends to chat and enjoy a thanksgiving meal together!
We enjoyed the 3-course tasting menu- excellent value! We started with oysters on the half-shell, which came wih is a delicious in-house made hot sauce. The breads were also very fresh and were nice to snack on with the oysters. Highlights were the Prawn salad and Ling Cod / Duck Confit mains.
Bishops offers excellent execution of favourite dishes, with excellent service. The menu is simple and effective, however not creative new foods and interpretations. Well worth returning.'
Bishops was great, as always. A longtime friend and I have dinner about once a year, and this was a great place to have this year's dinner. We both had tenderloin; I had the scallop appetizer. Portions are not large, but they're exquisite, and everything was superb; as it always is.
Bishops is a small restaurant in an old house, and deserves its reputation as one of Vancouver's best.
The wine list goes back to the 40's; bring your best charge card.
Bishop's has been a Vancouver fine dining gem for years and for good reason. The food is exceptional and the service simply amazing. It represents what traditional fine dining should be, not the noisy establishments that seem to be popular today. Simple elegance, amazing food, brilliant service - all very good reasons why this remains one of the best places in Vancouver to dine.
We have been going to Bishops for at least 30 years. It has never failed. We have had the odd occasion where it was not up to par but we keep going back and the dinner the other night was wonderful.
Great service with very polite staffs! Food is scrumptious! Highly recommended! Only drawback is tables r bit crowded.
Very romantic place to take a beautiful lady to impress her.
Food is great
Well worth for value!
Our favourite place to go.
bishop's was hands down one of the best dinners my husband and I have had. my appetizer was the scallops and main was the sea bass and it was the best! my husband said his main course was the best duck he had ever had. amazing service and John bishop actually makes his waythi every table! highly recommend it!
Absolutely one of the best meals I have ever had. Brought tears to my eyes!
Decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews read. The option of a set 3 course meal was an attractive idea to help with deciding on the dinner items as each appetizer, main and dessert were very tempting.
The food was indeed prepared and set very creatively, and each bite was delicious. My only comments would be that the portions for each item was a bit on the small side, and my simple request to have the food bill sent to me at the end of the meal so that I can treat my guests, resulted in the food bill being dropped on the other end of the table away from me instead.
