Beatrice & Woodsley Ratings and Reviews
We had an 8:45pm reservation (only because we couldn't get in any earlier), but they didn't seat us until 9:00pm. The server seemed to take a very long time in getting to us so we spend a good amount of time waiting. I think we finally got drinks by 9:20 and ordered food by 9:30. We received our food by 9:50 or 10:00. The food was good but not exceptional and I wouldn't say the service was great either. For the price, the experience was just so-so. I don't think we'll be going back.
One of my best friends and I were celebrating our birthdays. What a beautiful and quiet place! The decoration is superb, original, and creative. I appreciated being able to have a conversation without yelling. The lights are perfect, not too bright, not too dark. All the staff was courteous, professional, and fun. We loved being there. There was a birthday card signed by the staff when we got to the table. Such a nice touch.
Their cocktails are delicious. The beer was pretty good too.
Regarding ambiance and decoration, it was what I was expecting. Now, I need to agree with other reviews about the food. It's pricey and not out of this world. The portions are small, and the menu itself is not very varied.
When you read the descriptions of each item, it looks like you're about to have a delicious meal. However, they turn out to be kind of pretentious compared to what you get on the plate.
We ordered a cheese board to share. It was beautifully presented, but on the board, we had the three smallest pieces of cheese I've seen. My husband ordered the gnocchi, and he was pretty underwhelmed. I ordered the cabbage salad. It was good but just good. My friend said that her dish was just OK.
The dessert and the Frech press coffee were delicious though.
I would go back because I loved the place, but I would not return for the food, that's for sure. There are so many places in Denver, that B and W would need to improve the flavor of the food to be on top of my list.
Took mother-in-law who was visiting from NY. She eats out often & has a spoiled palate (so many great places to eat in NY!). So we wanted to show her someplace a little different. Overall, good service, ambiance, etc. But thought portions could have been more generous, considering the price. Also, the crawfish beignets were disappointing....did not see/taste any crawfish!
the restaurant itself is beautiful and the food is really good. the staff were friendly and the overall feeling in there was great. i had just asked out my girlfriend that night and took her to a reservation here and we both loved it. definitely coming back for our first year
We had such a wonderful dinner. Our server was the best. He paced the meal really well and we were able to relax and enjoy a nice dinner in spite of the restaurant being busy. The food was creative and delicious. We had delicious cocktails. The dessert was fabulous and creative.
This was our first time here, and we were all impressed! The ambiance was wonderful, rustic, and warm. The service was impeccable! Luckily, we had been told how to use the sinks by the bathrooms...it's a bit tricky, and there are no directions...just pull the right chain to start the water flow and wait a minute, then pull the left chain to turn it off. The food was fantastic, the portions were big enough to share. The specialty cocktails were delicious! Overall, a wonderful night out!
Beautiful interior design, delightful service, and a very cozy, romantic ambiance. We went for my boyfriend's 35th birthday, and he loved it. Even though they were out of the short rib plate (which is what he wanted originally), the braised pork shoulder was very tender and fell off of the bone with ease. Delicious pairings of the sweet potato and greek yogurt made for a unique flavor that was pleasantly unexpected. It is a fine dining restaurant, and we will be back for another special occasion again.
The gnocchi, pork shank and duck were very good while the bouillabaisse was ok. Service was a bit slow and we had to twice ask for a fork for an entree. The atmosphere was very nice. This was a birthday celebration but we apparently hit the only restaurant in town that doesn’t provide a complimentary dessert for the occasion.
- Wonderful, unique, cozy ambiance. Comfortable seating in rounded booths makes for an intimate feel... however, I found it a bit too intimate in that the table next to us was so close that we heard their whole third date conversation. :-/
- The meal was good, but not a Denver fav all in all. (Some of the incredible dining options we now have across the city has raised the bar!)
- Cocktails were excellent. Wine selection was good.
- Service was excellent... from reservations to coat check to our efficient yet warm server.
We'd go back sometime, but we aren't dying to book our next reservation.
Beatrice & Woodsley is absolutely beautiful inside and the service was outstanding. The aspen trees and hanging lanterns give the place an incredible ambiance, making you feel like you're at one of those beautiful outdoor meals that you see in fake spreads in magazines. The hostess and all of the servers were absolutely on point and I've never received such amazing service. I was delighted with these aspects of our experience.
That being said, I was very distracted with where we were sat, outwardly facing all of the other couples who were also trying to have romantic dates. The person who recommended this restaurant to us loved the fact that you sit next to your date instead of across from them. But I made awkward eye contact a dozen times with those sitting across from me and finally forced myself to turn sideways in my seat to fully face my husband.
Finally, aside from the most incredible avocado salad that had the most perfect hint of acidity, the food was a bit disappointing and quite underwhelming. It wasn't BAD, but it definitely didn't impress us in any way. It just didn't feel worth the price. I wish so badly that the whole experience had blown us away, but the food just didn't come up to par, especially with what we've had at places like the Kitchen, Rioja, Fruition, Old Major, Root Down, etc.
Side note for management: The women's restroom was super cool and very interesting, but it smelled like a word I NEVER use...p*ss. I almost gagged. Please for the love of all that's holy, install an air freshener or clean out the ventilation.
