Great location! Bayee Village restaurant is a mere ten minute walk from the Wimbledon Championships, so when the rain is pelting down and you want shelter and – as it happens – terrific Chinese food, this is the place. And for the other fifty weeks of the year, Bayee Village restaurant’s site in the heart of Wimbledon Village can’t be bettered. The décor is a traditional and smart, the service is swift and the menu features authentic classic Peking and fiery Szechuan cuisine with an intriguing emphasis on fish and seafood. The starter of steamed fresh scallops in the shell with garlic or black bean sauce is a long-time favourite. Main courses include Bayee’s own iron griddle ‘sizzlers’ of several types, including prawn, squid and green mussels.

    I have visited the Bayee Village 3 times over the last 3 years and it’s looking very tired. The menu and decor need a thorough update. The quality of the food is nothing special and yet the cost is going up.Its very expensive for not a lot frankly.We left feeling very underwhelmed and very light in the pocket. I won’t be going back there and there are some very good Thai restaurants in the Village.

    Birthday lunch with a party from 10 to 95. Food was, as always excellent and generous. Welcoming staff, convivial environment and thoroughly to be recommended.

    Having had a few disappointing Chinese meals at local restaurants recently we thought we should try somewhere slightly further afield. We therefore went for the Bayee Village Chinese Restaurant in Wimbledon Village. We were really pleased we did. From the outset the food was a step change from the meals we had of late. We started off trying the Rotisserie sampler as a light starter. The belly pork just melted beautifully, and the duck and pork were also note worthy. Everything was excellently seasoned. Aromatic Duck is a firm favourite, but somehow even this was better than the norm, somehow less greasy without being dry and slightly crispy without being overdone. Finally the main worth mentioning was the scallops, squid and prawn sizzling dish. All excellently cooked! Its not cheap at the Bayee Village, but it is worth it!

    Place was empty, food was not very tasty and was almost cold when it arrived at the table, staff stood staring at us whilst we ate to the point that my wife felt so uncomfortable we left earlier than planned. Felt very dated.
