Bar 48 is a Restaurant wine bar with difference. A cosy and intimate space, which is located a stones throw away from Oval tube station located at Brixton rd and boasts a delicious wine selection ranging from full-bodies reds to crisp, refreshing whites. For those who are more hops minded, the bar also stocks a great range of brews including local craft beers and ales from artisan beverage experts, Brixton Brewery. These superior beverages are served up alongside a unique and mouth watering culinary offering:- Eritrean tapas. Eritrean tapas is a mixture of traditional East African dishes served up on a delicious flatbread (injera), which acts as both plate and base for assorted meals from marinated beef in tantalising herbs to sumptuous curried vegetables.

Friendly, great jazz, hostess was good with great knowledge on wine. The house wines were delicious. Surprise jazz evening by bunch of youngsters was wonderful.

My friend and I had a wonderful meal, with the most lovely waitress and really tasty food. There was no rush and it was relaxing and a real haven.

If you're looking for something a bit different this place is hard to beat. It's a cosy place with a feel good vibe about it. The owners are super friendly which makes it a decent place to simply just chill out and relax with a beer or spirit. If you're rum drinker there's some unusual varieties to choose from - not found at your local supermarket. They made a rum punch while we there but not sure if that's always on offer. There's an Eritrean/Ethopian theme to the food. Basically a massive pancake with various sides you plonk in. There's a vegetarian option too. Definitely worth checking this place out!

This is the place to go when you're looking for an unpretentious place with amazing food and great deals on wine. The service is impeccable-run by a couple who are so friendly and easy going. The entertainment was lovely and vibey. Would recommend it for a fun night with friends and for a date ;-)

Great place for anyone who like to try new dishes, The Eritrean/ Ethiopian food there is fantastic, having been in so many Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant I am use to eating full flavour food, bar 48 food was catered as tapas for wine bar type, small menu with something can be made freshly for meat eaters and vegetarian, by far this is the best I had in London. The food is very tasty and typical of the region ingredient, you have to try the bread, you can have it with rice too but i preferred it with the original bread, it complement the space food perfectly, the eating with hand was fantastic, it can be messy sometime but thats part of it, you can master eating with hand after few times, the person who serve us the food convinced me to eat all the time with my hand, she said ''eating with hand represent the culture & you have better relationship with the food you eating too" it was true. There is grand piano at the bar, the person who was playing jazz was fantastic, perfect background music. This place is hidden from crowded Brixton which makes the place personal to any customer, amazing service, fantastic wine and wonderful people running the place, for sure it will be our regular. Waiting to be discovered! find it
