Seafood served in a casual atmosphere
Love the piano
Birthday!!! Everything was perfect 😎
Cons: Very pricey especially when you consider the average quality of the food. Bills itself as “ white tablecloth”, but it’s under a sheet of paper. Prime rib was over cooked- ordered medium rare; wife’s scallops were under cooked; strawberry shortcake was stale; vodka tonic was weak. One of our guests barely ate her food without comment. Total bill for four with tip was $250.
Pros: nice setting on Gull Lake channel; clean; very good server.
The food was fabulous, environmental was very nice , staff was excellent, we had a wonderful Anniversary.
Bar Harbor is such a lovely, classic destination for the area - wonderful service, fabulous food & presentation, and ambiance that is unsurpassed..
Here's the thing about Bar Harbor...it's a lovely space with beautiful views where lots of people go to be seen and eat expensive, average supper club food. You go for the ambience, view and piano bar, but if you want anything interesting or excellent I'd say it's a hard pass. Again, nothing awful, but nothing especially great. My prime rib was ok, but the aus ju was salty to the point of being briny, as were the mashed potatoes, which seemed to be an odd mix of instant and real (is that possible?). The vegetables, while attractive and fresh, were seriously undercooked. The house salad was ok, although flopped with dressing. The rolls were good.
My wife's pistachio coated walleye was, again, edible, but lacked pizzazz or any real flavor, and the side of wild rice pilaf was, again, over salted.
Frankly, I've had both dishes served as specials at local bars that were better and much less expensive. But I didn't have the view.
Bill, $120 with tip. Prime Rib, Broiled walleye w/ pistachio, 2 cocktails and one glass of Sauvignon blanc. Rating...a solid meh.
Halibut was wonderfully moist. Caesar salad is always good. And Tom Hunter’s music is the perfect vibe for an old-style supper club. The place was packed so we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated but the music was good and so were the cocktails. A weekend at Gull requires at least one night at the Harbor.
Excellent dining experience!
Bar Habor is a must for us several times a year. This particular visit included out-of-state families, both from the wine country of California. All were impressed with the view of the Upper Gull Lake channel from our window booth. The before-dinner drinks were perfectly prepared. Our server was attentive to each (5) of us, yet we never felt rushed at any time during our dining experience. The food, as always, was excellent. Three opted for the Surf I find that the broccolini has a milder flavor, with a mix of textures; the crunchy stems and the softer florets are excellent at soaking up any sauce.
All in all another great experience for our visitors. They are not unfamiliar to good food and ambiance; they were very impressed with their experience at Bar Harbor Supper Club.
The food was amazing as well as the service, best scallops I've ever had. Top notch
Lee was our server and was outstanding - everyone is so service
oriented and kind. Get the Ribeye - its fabulous. Very good
Bar Harbor is fabulous! It is our go to place up at the cabin.
We we’re seated in the bar area, it is a lively, fun place to sit, but it was very apparent our server was more focused on he large groups in our area, than our party of 2. Our service was rushed and somethings were overlooked. Nonetheless, we will be back.
We showed up 45 minutes early for our reservation and got expensive cocktails in plastic cups while we waited. I’ve never had an old fashioned in a plastic cup before - first and last time! The table we were waiting for was lingering and staff did not clear them out in time. We were seated 40 minutes after our reservation time and 90 after we arrived. Service after that was inattentive and nothing was done to help make it up to us. Overall - the food was good, but I’ve had better hostess and service at TGI Friday’s. Save your cash and get some pizza and have fun at Zorbaz
Dear Sir- It is our policy for the safety of our guests not to allow glassware on the patio. Our manager communicated with you multiple times during your wait offering you two alternative tables. You declined both and chose to wait. It is not our practice to ask our guests to leave at any point while they are enjoying their time with us. I'm sure you would agree that you would not be pleased if you were asked to leave in the middle of your post dinner cocktail.
We we’re in Nisswa for a long weekend and wouldn’t miss Bar Harbor, it’s our favorite. Great walleye and lakeside views. Supper club atmosphere. Love it!
It is as great as usual.
Tamra was exceptional!
We requested a table in the bar next to the window and it was honored. We enjoy the views of the lake. We also like the energy/ music in the Bar. We started with the crab cake; best in town. Fresh and not imitation or deep fried. The pork chop special was delicious; cooked perfect with fresh sweet potato mash and vegetable medley. Came with a fresh mixed green salad with a wonderful blue cheese dressing. The prime rib was not as good as usual. We had up Martini's but miss the fresh blue cheese stuffed olives. The House Chardonnay is a good pic, not too sweet. Too full for desert!
Would prefer less piano playing to keep the atmosphere pleasant for diners.
The food is delicious! My husband said the filet was the best he's every had. The short ribs were wonderful! The service was a little slow and unattentive.
The food was delicious and our service was impeccable… Pretty disappointed that neither the men’s or the women’s restroom had a baby diaper changing station
Exceptional al fresco dinning. Good food at a reasonable value. Excellent service at the bar from Matt.
Food and service were excellent - price is above average.
Very disappointed in NY Strip, as this is my Favorite Steak
Good food, good service and beautiful setting
All around great meal, service and lakeside environment!
We were greeted warmly at the door. Seating was what we requested but don’t always get. Service & food outstanding!
Definitely request a window view to watch the boats! Excellent steak dinner!
Great ambiance, great food, but some of the dishes were not hot when served. Over-priced for the region.
Great food. Really delicious entree and we enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Our waiter was solicitous and friendly but just the right respect. Great birthday for my 82-year-old husband! Thank you!
Birthday! Celebrated at Bar Harbor for the past 25 years!
Our food was good this evening except for the carrots which were raw and not cooked. Our waitress however left our experience lacking. She took over 15 minutes to greet us and bring us water. She then took our drink orders and stated she would be back right away with bread. We had finished the poured waters and extra bottle by the time she came back to check on us. We still did not have our initial drink order or bread. We tried to order an appetizer, but were told after we ordered it they were sold out. She then took our dinner order. We had to waive down another server to ask for water. The next time we saw her was when she asked us as our food was being served if we needed another drink. After this she disappeared until she brought our checks, dropping them on the table, and again disappeared after we had our credit card in the check waiting for it to be rang. We used to have excellent service here, I hope this was just a fluke as we havent been to Gull in the past 3 years. However if this poor service continued we will not dine here again.
Review from a very unimpressed party of 4 Moms.
Annual anniversary dinner celebration at BH
Smoked salmon dip and scallops were awesome! Drinks delicious and fun names!
Always a favorite when in town
The four of us had the perfect evening we were hoping for! The experience and food were as good as the friend’s recommendation. We especially liked the table location and view! The service was also top notch! We also commented that we thought the noise level was so much better than what we usually experience, so the four of us could enjoy our food and each other. Thank your for a special evening which was a very important part of our vacation!
Love this place, always great food! One of my favorites!
The halibut was excellent as was the short rib burger. The New York was terrible, very fatty with lots of grisle we sent it back to the kitchen. They did credit the steak dinner on our bill. Service was good very friendly.
I visited the restaurant over memorial weekend and was blown away by the food and the service. My family and I enjoyed it immensely and it was top notch in the dining room. We decided to make reservations over the Fourth of July because we had such a great experience and it was terrible. I made reservations over a month earlier and they placed us in a round table in the back of the bar. I should’ve known better but it was absolutely terrible and for $500 for dinner it was not worth it. If you go there and want a great experience go in the dining room I do not suggest going in the bar at all. I brought my family there for a relaxing dinner and all we got was loud noise poor service poor food. I asked a different server than we had about sitting there compared to the dining room and they told me it was completely different. So from now on if I ever make a reservation I will never ask to sit in the bar and pay $500 for what we got. The server was busy didn’t take her time in explaining the menu it took her forever to get back and it was just a very terrible experience. It was definitely reflected in her tip which is sad because if we are going out for dinner we truly want to have a great experience and will tip well.
The wagu beef was exceptional and their cocktails are perfect. Service was very attentive and fast too
Bar Harbor is one of our favorite go-to's! Everything is always great!
