The outdoor seating was neat; beautiful view of Sa Diego bay. Being from Arizona, we had to have heater on about 6:30. We always go for the world famous mai tai and we were very happy, as anybody is who has had one or two (the limit is two as they are very strong).
Oysters were very good and the lumpia was excellent . Our waiter Daniel was engaging and provided excellent service. This is a place we have frequented for years and have never been disappointed’
Lovely views, live music, great service and great food. It was a wonderful evening.
Famous mai tais were great! The appetizer platter was tasty. The lobster tacos were bad. The lobster was deep fried and very chewy and cold. We were disappointed on the entrees but enjoyed everything else.
One of the best places in San Diego to have lunch. Great view of downtown and tasty food & drinks.
Very pleasant despite COVID mitigations. Friendly server and beautiful view. Mai tai was on point!
Great location and atmosphere - right on the water! Went for Sunday brunch at 10am. Very quiet at that time. By the time we left around noon, it got a little louder as there were more tables seated. Tables all distanced well between each other for outdoor dining. Cocktails were great - I had the Shark's Tooth and Mr. Bali Hai and enjoyed both.
Great Outdoor Waterfront dining place. Thumbs Up !!!
Service was absolutely fabulous from each person we encountered. Food was excellent and of course the Mai tais were as amazing as always.
Much needed get out to eat. Felt safe as far as Covid precautions Bali Hai is our go place. We drive from Irvine so it is worth the drive for us!
We wanted and expected to be wowed. We weren’t. Our server was good up until he must have gone on break (same time our food came out so never checked to see if we needed anything else which we did). Table next to us violating Covid rules for number of people/masks etc., loud and up and down with people walking by and joining them and not once did mgmt do anything about it. I’ll be shocked if we don’t end up with Covid from the entitled mess of a group they were. I understand they were waiting to be scooped up by their yacht, but come on...do better to protect yourselves, your guests and your staff.
I could never say enough good things about the Bali Hai. I’ve been a regular here for years. Although I didn’t get married here I pretty much celebrate every other occasion I can. Sometimes I come just to chill, have a Mai Tai and chat with all the great staff.
So nice sitting outside. They have this outdoor dining figured out. Everything was delicious and we felt safe and comfortable.
Eating in the evening on the patio looking across the bay at the downtown skyline of San Diego. One of the best mai tais around, and definitely the strongest. My wife drove home, she didn't have one. Fantastic service and tasty food. What more could you ask for. Wonderful Tiki restaurant, been there since 1953.
First time out to eat since February 2020, due to pandemic concerns. Pleased to see all wait staff in masks, the tables outside were nicely spaced apart, menus accessed via QR code on phones and overall a memorable (rather than scary) experience for this 'senior citizen' who had dined at Bali Hai dozens of times in past 'normal' years.
I had the best halibut. Would highly recommend this dish
The ambiance is better than the food and the service is better than the price.
Excellent Coconut Shrimp. Food, other than appetizers, not available during happy hour.
We sat out on the bottom patio (during Covid times) and it was beautiful!!! The view was amazing! You look over the bay/harbor and watch the boats come in and go out...and when the sun goes down, downtown SD lights up.
I ordered the Sea Bass and my boyfriend ordered the Ahi...both were delicious, my piece of Sea Bass was huge and I needed help finishing. Watch out for their Mai Tai's they are strong (For me, one and done) the waiter told us they use no juice in these drinks so, beware. I was thankful for the warning....they were awesome.
Glad we found this place, we will 100% return. Our waiter was really great also...and they clean every table and chair between guests.
Great customer service and even better food!
First time here since Covid...our server Mary was awesome! I liked how they have adapted. Plus, their Mai Tai's were just as amazing 💯
First the good. The ambiance is great with water views for most seats. The drinks were delicious. the bad, The food was pretty average quality for the price. Every meal but steak was fried and small portions.
I recommend Bali Hai...........just for a fun night out. Very very average food and a fairly expensive, but it's just one of those places to have a nice evening as long as you know it's all about fun, and NOT about great food or great service. It's place to enjoy outdoor dining and nice views..........and special drinks.
The food and service was amazing
My evening was very special and was totally impressed with reception lady and all her help. My waiter was very attentive as I worked through tasting dinner choices to help my granddaughter find something to eat at our upcoming dinner on 7/31. We are returning then and are looking forward to another wonderful evening!
I love visiting this restaurant every time I come to San Diego. The food is world class perfectly prepared and ways fresh. The ambience is perfect especially sitting outside on the patio on the Bay. The customer service is always top notch. I could not have asked for a better birthday dining experience. Thank you Bali Hai- you never disappoint!
my faves are calamari and ahi poke. tried the sea bass and it was outstanding!!
Very nice view. The food was delicious and our waiter was nice.
Superb! Best view in San Diego!
Went to dinner a couple weeks ago and had Danny as server. Fabulous!!! He recommended brunch and we just went on the 26July. Had Nick as Server equally fabulous. Great food, atmosphere and service. Love this place. They always want to bend over backwards to make your experience amazing.
Might have a had a better experience at this restaurant if the entire dining area was open. Sat on the patio for dinner, which had a nice view of the water and the city, but other groups seated near us that evening were very loud. Our drinks (2 kinds of martinis) and the food - calamari appetizer, ahi tuna dinner and the seabass were mediocre, at best. All in all, not the dining experience we hoped for.
View was amazing and ambience was relaxing. We had Mai Tai's with our dinner. The seabass was delicious and the halibut. Staff was very good and friendly.
Great food and great vibes!
Incredible experience from beginning to end. We made a lunch reservation for a Saturday and were greeted by a friendly host team. The environment felt very safe and clean and the staff went above and beyond to follow all safety guidelines. Service was friendly and flawless, food was great and the outdoor view was incredible as usual. Very relaxing and such an enjoyable 'getaway' within our own town.
There are umbrellas at each distanced table, so sun was not an issue (the service team was incredibly accommodating with making sure the table was shaded). Highly recommended.
Our meals were quite expensive for being so mediocre. Small portions, and poor presentations. Quality not the good caliber we were expection. Meats were tough in both the steak and stir fry options. Added shrimp to "chow mein" were flavorless, & chow mein was spaghetti in a bland sauce(other than garlic)--not much else in regards to add-ins like vegetables. Very disappointed! The beverages were reasonable and well made, especially the signature mai-tai.
Always love coming here. Their patio dining situation was well executed. Beautfiul atmosphere with plenty of safe distancing. Would definitely come again.
Great food and drinks, unbelievable view! They will take good care of you here. We've been coming twice a day.
