Azure - The Royal Hawaiian
Had a fantastic beach side dinner. They had live music that was fitting for the level of this restaurant. I was looking for a perfect atmosphere to set the mood for "popping the question" and she said Yes so it all worked out great. I was looking for the perfect romantic dinner spot and since other places on Waikiki beach are more of the party scene this was definitely the right choice for a romantic dinner for two.
Service from our server Raymond was outstanding!! Food was delicious.
Menu has changed. Food not so good. Service was poor and slow. Ambience very different. Always been a long time favorite but no more. Won’t be back soon.
The serve was very good. The food was excellent. The live music in the bar was too loud and not sure why part of the dining ambiance?
Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful for people watching in sunset. Raw seafood platter was great (can't go wrong in Hawaii) but other than that food was just okay. Service was friendly but too "island style" low-key, that I kept looking for my server. I would say one time is enough.
Went for Mother’s Day with my adult kids and it was great! One of the best meals I’ve had with awesome service as well. Ordered a few cocktails before dinner and they were timed perfectly and never rushed us through our dining experience. My son and I both ordered the Divers Ahi and scallops . My daughter had the steak & lobster. All were cooked perfectly and sooooo flavorful! We started with the Kauai prawns - another incredible choice! The host and server were attentive and helpful with questions we had on the menu and they made us feel welcomed and important. Will definitely be coming here again and again.
Wonderful brunch at the Surf Lanai. I love that the buffet includes a hot ala carte entree (like guava pancakes or short rib loco moco) so you get the best of both worlds. Reasonable price, attentive service and a lovely setting.
Our host have us the most wonder table with a great view of the beach! We declined the buffet and ordered from the regular menu. Everyone loved what they ordered (3 crab omlettes and a lox & bagels plate. I would go back and recommend to others *thumbs up*
The food and atmosphere was beach and fine dining. We enjoyed the chilled seafood and small plate scallops.
Our server made the night for me, he was great. I had picked this spot as it had a large patio area facing the beach. When we got there, we were told two massive private parties were on the patios, so we had to sit inside. Facing the waiter station. Certainly put a damper on a night we were excited about. The receptionist and our server had the best attitudes tho!
This was my big splurge on dining while on vacation and I was so very, very disappointed. It was also my birthday dinner. I’ve dined here about 4x in the past and things have gone downhill. I made sure to make a resv about a month ago ( only accept resv about 30 days in advance)and requested outside dining as it is right on the beach. We were seated in one of worst spots in the restaurant as seen by the pix. The weather had potential to get bad so I would’ve liked to hear the hostess ask if we would’ve preferred a table inside. It was very loud as there was an event going in a banquet room behind us. Also, a steady stream of people going to bathroom in which we were close to. The service was ok but for a supposed top restaurant it wasn’t up to par. The server didn’t go over the tasting menu, I had to ask about the price and wine pairing. No specials, no discussion on the types of fish being served. The food was really good, thank goodness. I ordered the ahi and scallops. My date ordered steak and lobster with kimchi brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts were amazing. The server didn’t bring a steak knife and only came to check on us about 10 min after our plates were brought. Had empty water glasses a couple times. Dessert was quite nice as they did bring a complimentary flourless chocolate cake. The server also brought the full dessert menu but didn’t come back to see if we wanted to order or would like coffee. Overall I was very disappointed about the whole experience. In retrospect I should’ve asked to speak to the manager. For the price we paid for this meal, I would recommend finding another place. I probably won’t be back:(
The tasting menu was well balanced and paired well with the wine. The presentation of the foods and the waiter service was outstanding. I am not a fan of the amaretto sour with the dessert but it also comes with the moscato which is sweet if your palate prefers this type of wine.
Outstanding restuarant with superb food and service. Truly an outstanding experience.
You’d be hard pressed to find another special occasion restaurant like this. Incredible views, extraordinarily friendly staff and fare that make Wolfgang Puck seem like a cafeteria. Well worth it!
Beautiful views and outstanding service, was a wonderful experience for special night out.
Dinner at Azure was absolutely second to none! Scott was my waiter and he was phenomenal! The food was perfect. The ambiance outside right next to the beach aas astounding! I totally recommend Azure to anyone visiting Honolulu! Can't wait to visit again!
Andrew the Host who greeted us was awesome! He made us feel important was informative about the menu and even in selecting the table with the best view of Diamond Head.
James our waiter was the greatest! Very bright and new every dish on the menu!
He deserves a raise! The best experience we had on our vacation in Waikiki!
The ambiance and the history of the royal Hawaiian hotel is memorable!
Main dish which in my case was a fish arrived overcooked and cold. I sent it back. What came back was the same fish heated up and even more overcooked.
Every item ordered was too salty even for my wife who loves salt.
The Hawaiian Luau happening at the same time at the hotel adjacent to the Azure made the atmosphere very loud and somewhat uncomfortable.
Very nice restaurant but completely overpriced! Three of us out for a special dinner - $140. The drinks were tiny!! And we left hungry... beautiful restaurant though
Beautiful outdoor location! Menu overly complicated, food nothing special, very expensive entrees were $40-55 each. Mediocre service.
As always one of the best in Waikiki!!
As always, our dinner at Azure was wonderful!
Quite simply my appetiser the sashimi was average and most damning for a restaurant that claims to focus on seafood my partner’s fish was badly over cooked as were the rubbery shrimp that accompanied it. And by badly over cooked I mean inedible.
Food was tasty, service attentive and ambiance excellent. A good location for a casual dinner where the subdued noise level allowed a conversation to take place. We will be back when back in town.
Our dinner was wonderful! Everything delicious but expensive. We knew that going in so it wasn't a surprise. Will be back in February.
This was one of the best meals we’ve had this year. The beet salad was so fresh and complex, the surf and turf was so good I was steeling it off of my husbands plate. My scallops were cooked to perfection. We watched the sun set and had a view of Waikiki beach and Diamond head mountain. Our service was impeccable, we even splurged on the lemon cheesecake for dessert because we had been so impressed with everything else. Highly recommend, we cannot wait to go back.
I cannot recommend based on this server. I'm sure other servers may do a better job.
The hostess was very friendly and accommodating...I thought it was going to be another great experience when our server came and introduced himself and greeted us "Happy Anniversary!". This was for our 33rd anniversary. We'd been there a few years back for another anniversary and had a great experience then. But, this time was not the same. A glass of sparkling rose` took 15 to 20 minutes. We ordered sashimi for an appetizer and for our main the whole fish that is made for 2-3 people. Again it took a long while to get our 1st course. When came it was a salad instead of the sashimi. They took it back and after another wait brought our sashimi. When our main entree came and it was delicious and enough to share! But, when we were done they came to take our leftovers to pack and didn't clean the table. It was not what we were used to for a finer dining experience...they/He didn't refill our waters but was refilling water for a large group that was in front of us...He did not say we were getting a complimentary dessert and ended up ordering too much dessert. Even through serving dessert no one bothered to clean the table. We were very disappointed because by then most of the tables were empty and there was no reason to leave us unattended. I would have said "YES" that I would recommended the restaurant based on our previous experience but, would not feel right if someone else had the same experience from this anniversary.
This is a special occasion restaurant and it was. We dined early enough to enjoy people watching the last of the bathers and had a spectacular view of the Diamond Head Crater. We opted for the tasting menu with matching wines and they had no problems doing a change from red to white wine for me, always a good sign. The food was delightful, fresh and inventive and I could have eaten those mashed potatoes till I burst. The serves were well paced- I was full in the end but did not feel I was forcing food down.
Sure it is pricey but well worth it.
We were on our last day of vacation. Got seated right away. But was put in the furthest corner of the outside seating areas. Right on the corner of where people enter/exit to the beach. It was very dark and not well attended. We got water right away but had to wait a while for a server to come by who didn’t even to offer drinks or ask about appetizers. I think when the hostess finally remembered that people were sitting there the server came over. He was knowledgeable but didn’t tell us too much about the prix fixed menu, didn’t offer cocktail menu. The food was prepared well and was flavorful. I couldn’t get a feel for the ambiance because we were so far away.
We won’t be back to this restaurant. There was nothing outstanding about the meal that would make it worth returning, especially with all of the other choices around Waikiki.
On holiday in Waikiki. Azure is a bit more pricey, but almost everything is pricey in Waikiki, including mediocre restaurants. This place is worth the price.
We shared a nice Big Island salad, plenty for sharing. Both had beef & reef, a filet & Kona lobster tail with horseradish mashed potato, creamed whole leaf spinach & baby asparagus. Everything delicious, cooked perfectly, nicely presented. Also house made breads with clam dip & butter with local red salt. Could barely finish, no room for dessert. Decent wine selection.
Venue on beach in Royal Hawaiian hotel. More elegant than other beach side restaurants, but casual attire ok.
Low volume Motown music unobtrusive, but quite unnecessary.
Can enter through hotel or from beach.
The location and view was very nice. The staff and food were amazing. We were not disappointed in anyway.
Great view and attentive waitstaff. Food was average and overpriced. They took the fresh fish options off the menu but not offf of the menu on their website which was a disappointment.
I am sorry that there was confusion with our menu. I will be addressing this note with the rest of our team. We really appreciate the feedback and hope that we can fix these issues. Mahalo for sharing!
Excellent service and food.
Everyone and everything was exceptional. We will recommend this restaurant to all who plan on visiting the island in the future.
My daughter and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant celebrating her birthday, we had a great table right near the beach the service was spot on and the food was fabulous, that good that we returned two nights later and ate the same meal all over again which was equally delicious as the first time. I’m telling all my friends in Australia if they are in Waikiki they must visit Azure, they definitely won’t be disappointed. We had the manager come over and introduced himself on my daughters birthday, and he was simply delightful, once again I thank the staff at Azure for two wonderful nights 💖
Our server was spectacular. Six of us opted for the chefs tasting menu and wine pairing. Each course exceeded the last.
The soup was not appealing, it was so bland. The small plates is a great idea, but the lobster dish was not worth the price.
