My birthday dinner. Perfect service: not too invasive, but always available and present.
Food very very good, very simple and delicious, the way it is done in Italy. Very authentic!
Can’t say enough about it.
Cannot wait to return!!
The food was absolutely wonderful! The vegetables were beautifully seasoned and the lasagne was delicious. Will definitely be returning
Our dinner was excellent - two of us had the same fish dish and enjoyed every ounce of it. The third member of our group had the lasagna, great take on it. I'd even go back just for the brussel sprout side dish! Loved the decor - very cool vibe. We will be back on our next visit.
Food and server were excellent!! Knowledgeable and smiled a lot!!
Food was very good. The pastas are amazing and even the kale Caesar salad was thoughtful and well done.
Two small recommendations: 1. we felt a bit rushed in taking our order and getting our food. We would have liked a few minutes to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. This also happened the last time I was there for a business dinner 2. The Lemoncello was served at room temp. Should be ice cold. Couldn’t finish it.
I highly recommend Avo and will go back again.
Beautiful atmosphere and the food was delicious!!! The service was exceptional!!!
Excellent food and ambience
The food was fair at best. The meatball appetizer was the best of what we had. The lasagna was made with short rib ragu and had a lot of fat. The veal parmesean was not baby veal and over $30. In addition it was thick and the sauce was not the best. The waitress was nice but it seemed like it was her first day as she was not all that knowledgable. We did have fun and we might go back and order something different.
Avo is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans!
Everything we had was amazing. We tried everything off the happy hour menu and lived a of it. The lemon dessert was amazing
I hav eaten at Avo twice recently and though the food was excellent and the service very efficient.
Family in from Washington State. Loved it!
In town for Mardi Gras, a little pricey for farm to table,
Waiter could not suggest a sweet cocktail, didn’t care for the vodka old fashioned. Veal parm with kale & lasagna with béchamel & short rib ragout both delicious!
Took awhile to get the entree, but the food was great.
You are doing yourself a disservice if you do not try at least one pasta dish out this restaurant upon every visit.
Mannnnnnnnnnnnnn! Where do i begin? From the time i walked in the door until i left it was magical. The meatballs and fried artichokes for an appetizer are a must! I was so excited when i found out they use toshi cherries in the old fashion. My entree was the short rib lasagna. All I can say is WOW!!! The chef really out did himself. My server was Maggie and she was BEYOND helpful and attentive!!! Let's just say I will DEFINITELY be back!!!!!
We went for the Valentine's night special dinner. The food and the choices were very good and the newly renovated dining room provides a very elegant atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!
One of the best restaurants in New Orleans! Chef Nick and the staff were phenomenal.
AVO was delicious! Much recommended to anyone heading for Italian comfort food in NOLA!
Great place. Pasta was perfect and such a great selection of spirits and wines. Server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu.
Will DEFINITELY return.
We've been to Avo before and had excellent meals. This time the side dishes - kale, snap peas, asparagus were too salty. The remainder was excellent.
Can't go wrong with any pasta dish.
Everything was delicious from start to finish. Avo is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.
Food was good but very overpriced. Will not go back
Did not disappoint, again! Even the simplest dishes are always perfectly seasoned and especially flavorful.
Avo is our favorite authentic Italian restaurant in the city. It’s a refreshing change from the common (though also delicious) New Orleans style Italian cuisine.
Love this restaurant, but I must say I really miss the old patio now that they have enclosed it.
consistently good and welcome addition to the neighborhood restaurant scene
Hayden was absolutely amazing!!! His recommendations were amazing!!!! He was a doll! Thank you!
You feel like you are in an Italian farmhouse or rustic restaurant. Avo has a nice ambiance and feel to it. Our dinner experience was nice. We had a knowledgeable server-Alex-that provided great service and nice recommendations. Our dinner included the “paper plane” cocktails, fried artichokes, grilled octopus, satsuma salad, squid ink pasta and spaghetti with shrimp. All were great. The squid ink pasta was outstanding. I highly recommend it. Our dinner was leisurely and took over 2 hours. We ended the dinner with a great salty caramel desert. The only drawback to Avo is parking. There is none. We took an Uber there. Seriously. Don’t know where you would park.
The food here is extremely good, with a very thorough wine list. The staff is rather knowledgeable, much more so than you might expect. The ambiance is that of a mid-level Italian restaurant, but the food is five-star. The location is so distant from Canal Street that the probability of seeing tourists is basically zero. However, the place is a bit expensive, so be prepared for that.
We went for the happy hour. Good food great value.
Very good food and service. Renovation is nice. My only suggestion would be beefing up the menu for vegans, who are growing in number.
In a word, perfection. Cannot believe we waited so long to try this place & cannot wait to go back. The host was friendly, the server (I think his name was Hayden) was kind, attentive, and knowledgable, and the food was creative and executed with care. On top of all this, the renovation is stunning and includes many details which evoke the former courtyard. The weather was mild so they had also opened many of the windows, which contributed to the ambiance, and the lighting was low and romantic with candles flickering all around. The whole experience made an otherwise normal Wednesday night feel really special.
Great food, service, wine. Loved it!
This is our first time dining at Avo and we had a great experience. Great food and service! Maggie, our awesome server, was knowledgeable, professional and charming. We had Sicilian salad, charred octopus, flash fried brussel sprouts, ravioli and linguine with lobster and shrimp. All were
great. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. This restaurant will be added to our regular rotation!
The seafood didn’t f
Greeted warmly and promptly and seated according to reservation time. The drinks were good although they took a little bit to arrive from the bar. Wait staff was attentive, professional, friendly. Calamari app is as amazing, meatball app was delicious. Tuna tartare app was good but needed more flavor. Entrees were a bit underwhelming. Filet was cooked perfect and tender but needed salt. My wife’s veal parm looked and tasted like cafeteria food. Friends squid ink pasta with lobster was decent. Star of the entrees was the lasagna. Overall, I’d go back bc the ambiance and service was great. I’d probably order more apps and split an entree though.
A group of 8 went to AVO on Friday night at 7pm. We started with drinks, and after much deliberation, each of us settled on appetizers, entrees and some side dishes to share. The food was fantastic and as a few couples stated, one of the best meals they’d had in quite a while. The renovation of the space is lovely. The service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I found that they lack the staff for the crowded restaurant. I had to get up twice to get the server’s attention ...once for spoons and to also get the bill paid which took almost 20 minutes. The food was good but unless they have more help , I probably won’t go back. There are too many other good restaurants here in New Orleans that offer great food and great service. I wouldn’t go back on my own but if someone wants to go there , as an accommodation , I would go but not on my own.
The squid ink fettuccine with lobster was one of the best entrees I've ever had. Simple ingredients but packed with savory flavors. If everything else on the menu was half as good, I'd still absolutely recommend Avo.
