    We were staying at the Rancho Bernardo Inn and booked for a dinner on Saturday evening. We had cocktails, which were very high quality. We then shared the wagyu tartare and had the salmon and the duck breast as mains. We also got the sunchokes as side. All plates were very tasty and very well presented. The sunchokes were exceptionally good. The highlight in this dish was the delicious Gruyère sauce and the luscious bone marrow. We will certainly come back on our next trip to San Diego.

    Ambiance: Lively and comfortable…we sat in the bar booth. Food: Burger and oysters were tasty. Salmon and crudo was good. Service: Excellent all around. Everyone was friendly and prompt. Overall: We got to experience happy hour on a Saturday. We’d give a 4.5 if we could. Will definitely be back.

    I rarely write reviews unless I’ve had the best or the worst experience.. and unfortunately, this falls closer to the worst. Mixed reviews about the station options. Maybe because we sat down at 1230p and the last reservation was at 1p, but all the food had been out for a while and it showed. For the price tag, I would think Avant would change the old for new more often and especially the serving utensils! Do better!! It was also a chore getting the dishes cleared from our table and drinks refreshed. We moved plates to an empty table next to us but I had to physically get up to request another drink. After walking up to the seafood station and asking another server to refresh our drinks, our server began to come around more often. But that shouldn’t have happened. Look out for ALL your customers. DO BETTER. I hope this review is seen and taken seriously. The experience is part of the price. The service can and did change the course of our experience. The food was not to standards for what this restaurant boasts to be. For $85pp + 20% service fee + they want gratuity ?! Ok. DO BETTER!!

    Excellent experience; we arrived early and they were able to seat the three of us immediately; even gave us a "tour" of all of the stations for the wonderful variety of the buffet. It was definitely a 'bottomless' champagne brunch.

    Best brunch buffet we have been to in a very long time. Worth every penny especially with the free flowing Chandon champagne. Our waitress, Madeline, was so attentive we were never needing anything during our entire meal. Although they seemed to be full, we never had to stand in line to get food. From the charcutterie to the dessert table the selection was plentiful and delicious. You can valet park for $4 if you get your ticket validated, which is also a bonus. This was our first time, but we will definitely be back.

    I was slightly hesitant in following through with a reservation with our Travelzoo voucher due to previous reviews. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The staff were so warm, accommodating, and attentive. It was such a delightful Sunday morning that we won’t forget. We look forward to returning soon.

    Fine experience. Server Molly and her team were attentive and helpful. Staff brought several complimentary small dishes showing that this place is onto their food! Wonderfully eclectic menu including cocktails. Stoked.

    We had a wonderful (2days) late Valentine’s dinner. We started with an amuse-bouche, a Parkerhouse roll, then field greens salad & scallops (all shared) and had an interlude until our entrees of salmon & beef Wellington. A wonderful chocolate ganache was followed by some sweet bites to top things off. The portions are reasonable to allow such a gastronomical adventure, of course sharing helped. Each dish was a delicious delight, with fresh and unique ingredients presented with attention to both flavors and presentation. We spent well over two hours dining and had wonderful service throughout. Fine dining at its finest!

    We were seated in a booth by the bar which ruined the experience. The first courses were excellent but the half lobster had maybe 3 bites of meat - very disappointing for the price we paid. Also the potatoes gratin were disappointing. The dessert was very nice.

    The buffet had many choices of food and everything I ate was excellent - seafood delectables, omlets, waffles, salads, cheese, veggies, and other breakfast and lunch dishes. Service was superb - servers cleaned up the table, brought more sparkling wine and orange juice, and there was always a timely refill of buffet items. There was also life music - accoustic guitar and voice. It was a very pleasant dining expereince - we will go there again.

    Very high quality food and service - will be back. Expensive but that's the way high end restaurants are. Don't go to get stuffed, go for the experience. Split the entre and it ended up being only about $75/person including 1 drink, so expensive but not too bad all considering.

    AVANT seems like a well-kept secret that even I am reluctant to share about. Our dining experience there was wonderful in every way: creatively and delightfully crafted food, helpful and unpretentious staff, and an ambience that’s easy on the eyes and ears. Please enjoy it for yourself but just don’t tell anybody! :-)

    The seafood bar was one of the best I've ever experienced. Everything else was about what you's expect from a Sunday Brunch. Bacon was nice and Crispy, not flacid as is often the case at these events. The sausages were not memorable. The Trout was very good. Desserts were a cut above. Quite Pleasant, I'll go again.

    This was our first time eating at the Avant & WOW!!!! I was very impressed. The food was excellent. We went for the Sunday buffet brunch & there was something for everyone. So much to choose from & the champagne was flowing from waiters Jonnie & Leo. Loved the atmosphere & the vibe. We will definetly go back again.

    A great Sunday brunch but very expensive at $85/person before taxes and mandatory 20% service charge. Wide selection of very tasty food but surprisingly no carving station. We were expecting a carving station with prime rib or ham - and one could have been put at the omelet area - but no such luck.

    Went for the sunday brunch with a Travelzoo deal - the brunch is regularly $85 per person; I think without the deal I thought it was a tad overpriced for what we received. However, we had a great time and I would recommend it, especially if you can get a discount. Pros: Excellent service! I can't say enough about the 5 star service. The wait staff was extremely great. They pour Chandon sparkling wine - should I say more? Very nice and again 5 star. The food for the most part was tasty. I liked the seafood bar, which had nice size cocktail shrimp, ceviche, crab claws, ahi tuna, smoke fish and more. That was very nice and all was good. The omelet station had a good variety, though the chef was a bit slow on the orders and actually put my husband's omelet in a bowl instead of on a plate (new one for us). There was a waffle station as well and in the same area a large table with multiple desserts. The other main area had hot and cold food. There was a nice selection of salad items, fruit, rolls, cheese, etc. coffee and tea. There was a soup, lobster mac and cheese and another pasta dish. The asparagus was delicious. The pasta dishes just so=so. I was looking forward to trying the trout, but unfortunately it was just flavorless. Too bad. There was mashed potatoes and some short ribs. a chicken dish that did not look appetizing. There was a paella which was decent. Also some scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage options. What I thought was missing for the price - some sort of carving station - turkey, ham, roast beef, etc. Usually you expect something like that for the price. The setting was nice - the Rancho Bernardo Inn, set amongst a neighborhood and the golf course was nice and the interior was comfortable. The room we sat in was super loud - I'm sure the combo of freeing pouring sparkling wine contributed to that atmosphere. We were seated next to a party of 6 ladies, who were having lots of fun.

    Avant with Chef Sergio is nothing but amazing. Arguably the best restaurant in San Diego. I highly recommend requesting to sit in Sergio section. The best weight staff around. He describes the food as if he cooked it himself. Very knowledgeable.

    Paul made our time at Avant completely worth it- great service and extremely knowledge about the Chef's garden that they use to create some amazing dishes- the duck is fantastic and highly recommend their happy hour!

    As usual, excellent food and service. One of our favorite places in San Diego to relax and dine. The ambiance is cozy. We haven't had any desert we didn't love. Parking is easy. For wine lovers: they have an excellent list of bottles. If you decide to bring one, corkage is $35. The red wine glasses are very good.

    I loved this little restaurant. My overall experience was a 5 star experience, but I would have like some chicken and or more pasta options. And, finally, I hate surcharges. But the scallops and cavier dishes were to die for!

    Wonderful is the best word to describe our experience there. The food was amazing—our favorites were the short ribs, paella, and Crudo bar. Wait staff was very attentive and we could tell it was well managed because everyone seemed to really love their work. Made for some great memories.

    The Sunday buffet brunch at AVANT is really wonderful. The food is fantastic and beautifully displayed for a buffet, with several stations in a few different areas of the restaurant so there are not too many people in any one place at a time. The fresh seafood offerings are incredible -- crab claws and jumbo shrimp, the coffee is Starbucks, the mimosas flow constantly, the service is fantastic. This was my third time and I'll be back!

    We had the pleasure of dining during the Sunday Brunch experience!! 10 stars!!! The food was fresh and delicious! The menu included many options for a variety of dietary needs/restrictions. Fresh seafood, omelet/waffle bar…and the Piêce de Rêsistance…bottomless mimosas/champagne (which is absolutely that…glass never went empty!!!). The service was amazing and attentive as well!! The ambiance is beautiful and each station/room is well maintained and presented! The live music is a plus and nice accompaniment to a lovely brunch. We will definitely return
