Reception and hors d'oeuvres begin promptly at 6:00pm, followed by a carefully curated five course tasting menu replete with Schramsberg Vineyard wine pairings that will begin at 6:30pm. $165/person, inclusive of food, alcohol, service charge, and tax,

We came to the Avant to celebrate Father’s Day for my husband. We dined at the Avant Friday and Saturday, both nights were amazing. Our waiter Joseph makes is feel very comfortable and has great recommendations! Thank you.
Avant is a beautiful restaurant, with an outdoor patio that offer very nice views over the gorgeous golf course and grounds. The food is generally quite inventive and delicious, and in our latest experience was also very good. The gazpacho was unique and spectacular, as was the black truffle cauliflower. The aged duck was incredible, and perfectly prepared. However, one issue was were worth noting: the squid ink spaghetti with uni seems like a very, very good preparation if executed well, and the uni was served extremely fresh and delicious, with a wonderful bernaise-like sauce over everything that was flavorful and balanced. However, the pasta was extremely over-salted, nearly to the point of inedibility. Don't know exactly how this could happen, unless the base pasta was initially salty itself and required some special preparation to eliminate the extra, or if the pasta water was extraordinarily oversalted? I don't know; in my own cooking I've never come close to infusing that much salt into pasta, fresh or dried, even when knowingly exceeding the usual amount of salt for boiling. Seems it would require an egregious error in that case... In any event, a major mistake. We pointed it out to the servers, and at that point had already eaten most of it by watering the noodles and using bread heavily. They said next time we should alert them right away and they would "fix it"... Hmmm... Hope the message got to the kitchen staff, and they used it to gain insight on how not to break it in the first place... Nevertheless, we found the overall experience wonderful, the wait staff attentive and friendly, and would still recommend Avant to others. Just be prepared for the quite high prices and possibly for variability in some dishes despite the high investment... And I guess inform them right away if something seems problematic, so they can attempt to address it before you try to make the best of it anyway...

My husband and I had the most lovely dinner at Avant. We enjoyed the six course chef’s menu with additional add-ons and everything was delicious. Most importantly, Gabby’s service was just exceptional. When we needed to get thicker sauce for the mushrooms, she was on it in a flash and never made us feel like we were putting her out. She was upbeat, helpful with the menu and facilitated the best craft cocktail I have had. That brings me to the male bartender (I didn’t catch his name), who officially makes my favorite drink - Honey’s Alibi with tequila and a splash of grapefruit juice. Absolutely delicious! We will be back to enjoy a romantic dinner or even just for cocktails at the bar.
I always want to love Avant but just don't. The menu is limited and seems to be trying too hard. The prices are out there and the food is good but not great - sadly. I wish they would make this a steakhouse. It would be perfect and RB needs it.
The food was exquisite as was the service. My only suggestion is that there are small flies this time of year in San Diego and they kept buzzing around us. There was really not much we could do to alleviate the situation.

The cauliflower bisque was amazing. The Hawaiian yellowtail was awesome and my husband’s duck was equally excellent. All great flavors. Our server Sal also added to the overall experience.

One of my most memorable meals. Perfect place for celebrating a special occasion. Tasting menu is superb. Got to meet the chef.
Food was mediocre, and service slow. Do not ask if the chef can accommodate the tasting menudo vegetarians because he will say yes, give you 5 dishes straight from the menu, and then charge twice as much as the menu price.
The rib eye was incredible! Best steak I’ve eaten. Service was great too
Avant was a wonderful outing. The service was attentive but not smothering. The food was delicious and different! The exciting part was the variety and uniqueness of the offerings. If you are looking for a pleasant atmosphere, great views, and delicious food give Avant a shot.
We went for the COVID revised Mother’s Day Brunch. Everything was fantastic, kids loved and devoured all three courses too!!
A bit disappointing when you have a $45 short rib that the is presented lukewarm and dry.
The elegant setting of this restaurant is one for special occasions, but difficult to achieve when seated next to crying babies.

New chef and great selections. Flavors delightful. Extensive wine selection. Solid beer choices. This place always pleases us.
There were two of us , and spent a little less than two hundred dollars. When I called to confirm the reservation, I told them we were celebrating my neighbors birthday. We each had one and a half glasses of wine so most of our bill was for food. You would have thought a little bday something would have been included to end the evening, but no.

It was my husband’s birthday, we have a very good time, food & service was wonderful.
Food was delicious. 2 of us got the yellowtail; not over cooked, nice presentation. Short ribs were also reported to have been the best my friend had. Strip loin didn’t quite impress. Cocktails were so so. Dessert- chocolate tart- disappointing.

The 21-day aged duck was exquisite--A perfect blend of fat and meat for duck eating succulence. This meal should be on that show ¨The Best Thing I Ever Ate.¨ My fiancee Deborah and I totally enjoyed Avant--the food, service, and ambiance are all top-notch. I totally recommend this restaurant.

Our appetizers, the Woodfired Cauliflower and Cured Hiramasa were delicious. The cocktails that were ordered, Old Fashion, Spicy Margarita and Amaretto Sour needed more flavor. We ordered 2 duck entrees and two Grilled Yellowtail. Both dishes had no flavor, they lacked seasoning. The waitperson never came over to check how the food was. We brought in wine, had to ask to have it open, never poured anymore after the first glass, we had to pour the two bottles of wine ourselves. Dinner was almost over before they got around to opening the second bottle. We had to ask someone other than our waitperson to open the wine. We were very disappointed in the experience.
