The meal started out great, had a pizza as an appetizer and ordered a combo of appetizers and main courses. The problem was when our waitress seemed to get really busy- she kind of disappeared. We ran out of wine, drinks and had to chase her down to order more. We would have stayed longer and probably ordered dessert but didn’t want to wait another long wait for our order. All the of waitresses seemed overwhelmed- it didn’t seem like a super busy night but maybe someone called in sick or they were short staffed - not sure. Oh well- the food was great! Get the Octopus app!
Food had no taste. No salt/pepper on the table. No bread on the table and nobody to ask. Server disappeared until dessert or check.
Doesn’t matter why you go. Meets all expectations,
First time. Beautiful place. Clean our Server Hailey was wonderful. Soup of the day was delicious.
We had a fantastic time here. Highly recommended!
We were visiting from Massachusetts and looking for good food and wine. I really enjoyed the octopus appetizer.
Visited for my wife's birthday. It was our first time at this location (had had pizza from the Armature Works location previously) and we were pretty excited to try the full restaurant. The food was wonderful but the service was lacking.
We were sat down, handed menus, and the waitress appeared with water. She asked if we wanted drinks and we requested that we have a moment as we had never been before and wanted to look at the menu She left, came back, took the drink order, and asked if we knew what we wanted to eat. We again told her that we had never been in before and wanted to look at that menu now. We asked about a few dishes in particular and the only input she had was "everything is good" and "the filet comes out already cut up". She came back 5 minutes later, mentioned the specials for the evening, and we ordered our dinners. Food came promptly and was delicious. We had to ask her for the dessert menu but were glad we did as the rosemary cookies were awesome.
I think our server was introduced to a table nearby as in training, so that could be the reason for the less than great service, but I only saw the hair color and shirt of that other young woman so it may have been a different person. Our server never once introduced herself, asked we had ever dined with them before, asked about allergies, asked about the birthday (it was noted on the reservation), or really did anything other than just take a food order and drop off a bill.
The music coming from the bar area was a little more dance club sounding than I expected, but I wasn't expecting Italian classics from Sinatra or Dean Martin since this was Howard Ave. on a Friday evening. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't terrible, just a little loud.
Overall, the wood was great, the atmosphere was very lively, and the service left much to be desired. It won't stop us from coming back again though.
We were a party of 8. We had to ask to get service at almost every point. Just getting a glass of water was hard. The waitress would disappear or would be over at the bar chatting. What should have been an hour long meal took nearly two - it was painful. We had to ask passing wait staff to help us find our waitress multiple times.
The food was pretty good but we were starving hungry by the time it came.
Love this place. It is always consistent and comfy. The service from Natalie was outstanding and the pasta bolognese the best thing going! Always worth the trip!!
It was an awesome brunch experience, While celebrating a birthday.
Great food. Great service.
Thank you for the awesome attention and service Sierra!
Very happy with everything!
We had the best server, ever.
We had an amazing experience!
My favorite restaurant in all Tampa has always been 717; now I can add Ava as its sidekick. Well done!!!
Overpriced food in a manufactured atmosphere.
We decided to go here on a Friday night. Easy to get a table. Our waitress was awesome. Our meal was horrible. This was our first and last visit. The food was so bland. We were very disappointed.
It was average food for a higher than average price. We were very disappointed.
The food was awesome. Loved the atmosphere. Great for any occasion. We will definitely come back.
Very comfortable. Great menu if you are real hungry or just want a drink and appetizer. Perfect stop for before a Lightening game.
I picked Ava for our One Year Anniversary, since Pizza is a special part of our lives. However having been there before, it just didn’t add up this time. Our server was AMAZING, the drinks are fantastic but don’t pick Ava for the pizza alone anymore.
I’ll be back for the service.
Love my experience at Ava every time! This time we shared a table of appetizers - I enjoyed the scallops, the pork belly, and the warm ricotta. Beverages are also a hit. Our table enjoyed the French Rose and a Chardonnay. If you’re looking for an incredible meal, attentive staff, and a true experience, this is the place for you!
I left hungry and I’m not a big eater. Ordered the fish of the day and it was a minuscule portion. It was served with vegetable but no side (rice, potatoes, etc). There wasn’t even bread offered. When the waitress came with check she didn’t ask if we wanted coffee or dessert. I would gladly have paid more to get a decent size piece of fish. BTW, it’s Friday during lent so some folks are going to be eating fish yet all the specials were meat or chicken.
Great food and service as always
Most of the food was very good. We were disappointed in the pizza. they have a beautiful authentic pizza oven but bake the pizza on a pan. The only way to get a perfect crisp crust is to put the pizza on the stone oven floor. We have been to many pizza restaurants in Italy and have never seen anyone use a metal pan.
We have NEVER baked any pizza on a pan.... Never. We were rewarded best pizza and the only 4 star review given by the times.
Overall, the food was good and the place was very nice but the service was TERRIBLE. Our waitress was never to be seen again after she took our order, we had to ask another server for water and again to get our waitress for the check. We saw her serving another table next to ours, but would never come over to see how we were after. Also, she didn't apologize or offer an explanation.
Overall great experience, just a little warm in the restaurant
Salmon cooked perfectly. Lovely spot with many unique furnishings.
Breakfast Burger was a great big mess.
The atmosphere was nice but the food lacked flavor
Food & service are very good Noise level is very high & really could be toned down to enhance enjoyable conversation.
Great food! Great wine selection! "New" server was sweet and worked hard to make our whole meal wonderful.
Server was kind of inattentive, drinks weren’t refilled, my husband’s food was bad. I personally liked everything, bi
Great food. Great service. Nice atmosphere.
Our server was awesome!!!!
No table cloths, no bread, not even salt and pepper on the table. Very young wait staff. Bruschetta appetizer was excellent. I had the Joe Maddon double play. Not much flavor, I prefer thin chicken cutlets, Buts that's just my taste. Egg plant was thin sliced (maybe slicing machine). When I make egg plant at home I hand slice and remove the black skin, not done here. Red gravy was very good. My date had the margarita pizza. At $18 for a medium pizza could do better at Anthony's coal fired. They do have an impressive pizza oven. We were there on a Sunday evening, place was busy and quite noisy. For a $100 plus tip meal (including a pitcher of Sangria) can do better.
Amazing place for brunch. Gets a little rowdy with groups partaking in unlimited mimosas. Definitely a party. Food was outstanding. Highly recommend the steak and eggs.
The food was excellent!
The chef , Scott Murphy, came out and checked to see how the food was -
That was much appreciated!
