Dinner was ok. I have dined at Ava before and the food better. Service was more upbeat.
It would have been great to have had a vegan option or perhaps two
Server was knowledgeable and helpful . She encouraged me to try a new
Cocktail and assured me if I didn’t like it she would replace it with another and I didn’t care for the first drink and she quickly replaced it with one I did enjoy. Food all tasted good and restaurant had a good vibe - only negative was being seated at table closest to front door- would definitely go back and recommend to friends .
We booked our table with Open Table since it was St. Patrick's Day. We were seated right away which was fabulous. We had a great waitress however the kitchen was backed up and food delivery was agonizingly slow. First pizza was overly-charred. We were told they usually char the pizza however half of wasn't edible. They brought us a new free pizza. Pizza is artisan style and not true Italian. Meaning, skimpy on the ingredients and lots of crust. Not my first choice for a great pizza.
It was a fun dining experience. Great food and fun cocktails. The service was good too. Booth seating is very tight...no secrets should be told. We will definitely be back soon.
Great food. Service was excellent
Excellent as always
The food was good, there was a comfortable ambience, and the service was friendly but could have been more attentive. I believe the server was inexperienced as I asked about the grilled fish menu item and she gave me info on the whole fish. As a result I got something that was not only different from what I expected but $10.00 more expensive. However, it did taste very good.
The service was a little slow for food, but drinks were super fast & staff was very friendly. Awesome décor & atmosphere.
Dissapointing! I have had a few good experiences here before. But, boy, have things changed! The food was salty, lacking in flavour and overpriced. Not worth it.
I was in Tampa for a conference and found this restaurant. We loved the food, I had the fabulous pasta with funghi, we enjoyed a good bottle of wine and an excellent house salad. The noise was hard on us, but everything else was terrific. Our waiter, Steven, was a delight. I highly recommend Ava.
Food and service are great. Busy weekends. Skip the pizza, better things to order. Nice wines by the glass.
Food was not good and neither was the service. The waitress was very awkward
Exceptional every time and can not wait to go back to celebrate my Birthday on Easter Sunday. For sure my family and mine favorite place for a picky Italian, this hands down the best food, service and atmosphere.
Wonderful. Excellent food and service.
The Bucatini pasta was home made, delicious and perfectly al dente. It was served with ox tail which was barely visible, and what was there were tiny slivers of shredded meat.
The Octopus and Meatball appetizers were also very tasty. That's where the delicious ended for us.
The CHicken parm was average at best and not not as impressive as some lunch portions I've had at more authentic italian restaurants. I'm used to the chicken parm pounded thinner, tender and almost covering the whole plate.
The marinara sauce was bland, not much more tasty than a can of crushed tomatoes. This was used with the spaghetti noodles under the chicken parm and eggplant parm. The spaghetti noodles were boxed noodles and not house made. For $20 for chicken parm I expected more than a thick half chicken breast on top of boxed noodles and flavorless sauce. I make that at home with better sauce.
We also asked for a side of fettucine alfredo. Ava does not make Fettucine Alfredo. what?
The two children's chicken tenders were good. we opted out of fries and asked for plain noodles instead and were charged for a side of plain noodles instead of substituting the fries which we asked to do but were not told it would be otherwise.
We had two shirley temples delivered in kids cups that were light pink in color, so it mostly sprite with very little grenadine, and it cost $14 for the two kids drinks !! not even a maraschino cherry.
Bread was $3 and do I need to say it was a tiny amount. ( no self respecting italian restaurant should charge for a basket of bread and butter.) Do you really need that $3? seriously, feed your patrons better and we'd come back which would be well worth the $3.
This place nickels and dimes you and doesn't deliver.
Pizza was awesome with soft but crispy outer crust. Good place to go with friends.. not good for romantic evening ...
Was there to meet out-of-state friends I had not seen in years. Food was great - it was just hard to hear over the noise.
Ava has a consistently nice atmosphere! The food is always very good but slightly over priced. I LOVE their Octopus! They also have great happy hour specials. Happy Hour is probably my favorite time to go to Ava.
Fab evening out - great food and service. Friendly and easy.
Great atmosphere, creative seafood dishes which I loved, great service. I will definitely re-visit soon!
Went for Sunday brunch. Great menu selection. Not too big but not too small. Sat outside and was very breezy. Ordered bottomless mimosas and lemon ricotta pancakes, they were excellent and not overpowering with lemon flavor. Can’t wait to go back.
Had a good time at Ava. Really liked that we could either valet or use the free parking. Being able to make reservations so that you do not have to wait is also a plus. We were seated immediately and the server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was great and really enjoyed the pasta. The only thing that could be improved on would be that the table was a little unbalanced so it rocked a little bit. Also, it was a little loud inside so it was hard to talk. Other than that, it was a nice place and great food.
Overall disappointing lunch. Service was extremely slow and it took a little over an hour to get our food. Egg on breakfast pizza was undercooked and egg whites were running off the slice of pizza. This was not our first visit to the restaurant so we were expecting better.
This was a delicious, casual Italian meal. We especially loved the bruschetta appetizer. There were many things on the menu the I wanted to try... We will be back soon!
We were seated quickly but were made to wait too long to before ordering apps and our meals. Food was good but not great. Service was slow.
simple, very great place; a surprising find
Delicious food. Our server was the bartender and he was inattentive. It wasn’t busy, he was looking at his phone and the tv.
Food is good to okay nothing really leaves a lasting impression. I like the Ambiance as its casual, spacious and a hip vibe. Pricing is too high for the food experience.
Pizza was watery in the middle, soup was room temperature at best, salad had almost no dressing and few pistachios. Service was amazing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 1st visit to Ava. The charcuterie plate was excellent. I look forward to returning and trying one of the pizza we saw being baking in the wood-fired oven.
Good food;great service
The food was as delicious as anticipated. We enjoyed an excellent, gourmet meal in a relaxed and casual environment.
Went for lunch with friends . Great food ( the pizza is out of this world ) very friendly staff I will return
The best service always.
We went to Ava for Valentines Day and didn’t know about the price fixe menu, which was very limited and quite expensive. Some of Ava’s best entrees were left off the menu. It felt like a meal that was half as good as usual but twice the price.
We booked on 2/14 through Open Table for Valentine's Day dinner and weren't aware there was a limited set menu for the evening. We got there and went ahead and stayed for the $70 pp menu. The choices weren't bad but the food was not good at all. Love the location and the service was good, but the food just isn't. Need to change chef or something.
Dined on Valentine's Day with 3 friends, understood in advance that Ava had a limited Prix Fixe menu (priced at $70/person). The evening started off well enough with cocktails at the bar and quickly went downhill when we sat down to dinner. (To preface, the restaurant not being busy for Valentine's Day should have been my first clue.) Orders for the complete menu were taken at once as customary for a Prix Fixe... shortly after the server came back and announced 1 of the 5 entry selections (seared tuna) was NOT available. Disappointed, we made another selection (a pasta dish with lobster). We each tried a different appetizers and shared around the table, all were just OK (had a very hard time finding any octopus in the crispy braised octopus with fingerling potatoes). We all got the salad, as the other option, the chef's soup of the day, a "French style" onion soup was described as "brothy and unbaked" OK? When our main courses came out; the filet mignon steak selection, although properly cooked, smelled as if it had sat over an unlit gas grill for 15 minutes and the pasta with lobster was uneatable, cardboard like, undercooked and tasteless. We called the manager over, who could do nothing more than apologize and removed the pasta dinner from our bill, OK I guess? After the all this we were only in a hurry to exit and barely touched our desserts. An extremely disappointing experience. By offering a limited menu at a $70 per price point, Ava should have gotten everything perfect. It came highly recommended and only managed to disappoint on so many levels. May try Ava again someday for cocktails and a flatbread or cheeseboard but not for anything more. Expected So Much Better!
The ambiance was good walking in, and the lighting automatically changing through out the evening was an interesting touch as well. The food was quite good, would definitely suggest the octopus appetizer and Lamb for the entree. Overall this app and this restaurant saved me on Valentine’s Day and made it incredibly memorable.
