Excellent experience at Ava. Highly recommend. Prices are very reasonable, service is wonderful.
Food wasn’t nearly as good as say Bella’s. The pizza is the best thing on the menu. Will only go back to the one at Armature Works.
My first lunch visit to Ava’s for a business lunch was enjoyable. Prior to this day I have only been for dinner, which is bustling. Lunch is more relaxed and quieter. I enjoyed the salmon and spinach salad. The samon was cooked perfectly. The streak salad smelled and looked wonderful, I almost asked for a taste. My favorite dish at Ava’s is the oxtail pasta, however it is only a dinner item. I will now visit for both lunch and dinner.
Loved it! Service was quick, great food.
Food is excellent but highly overpriced for the portions.
Excellent service but food is lacking Wood grill seems to fall short in all items. Wood grilled Vegetables mushy and over peppered. Grilled fish was mushy with no trace of grill marks or grill flavor, served in bowl full of cheesy oily pasta, with creamy sauce on top.
pizza was good but under cooked. No char bubble as described. Wouldn't go back
Very good Italian cuisine! We plan to eat here often.
Fantastic as always! Food and service are top-notch.
Server was absent most of the meal, dropped off the espresso with the check, and did not bring any sugar, by the time she returned, the espresso of course was cold as it is a small cup. No attention to detail from a service standpoint.Very disappointing.
Fresh Pasta and Fresh breads. Amazing sauces and always cooked well. Owned by Joe Madden (Chicago Cub's baseball Manager who actually resides in Tampa), it's a great place to see other local celebs who pop in for a drink or something to eat.
Lunchtkme, almost empty. No-one around to seat us. Had a salad each, which were very good.
Loved this place! Food was great and our server Destynee was friendly, sweet, and considerate!
Server was very bad. Rushed us so she could leave. I will not go back. This is the 3rd time I have tried to give Ava a chance. Service is bad and they make you feel rushed.
Drove by on Friday and thought it looked good from the street, so I researched and decided to book for Saturday night dinner w/my 17 year old daughter. Neither of us eat meat, but we had plenty of delicious choices including several fish options. Lovely spinach & fig salad with goat cheese and caprese salad with yellow and red cherry tomatoes. Perfect size portion of pasta for my daughter. I chose the scallops from the appetizer menu for my main course and they were great! Three large scallops - perfectly pan seared. I don't remember what they're called but the donuts with whipped mascarpone for desssert were heavenly!
Highly recommend! Excellent service - a very knowledgeable and friendly server.
Although I was bummed there were no coffee gelato, my girlfriends and I had a great time. For future reference, how do we get the secret room?
We’ve eaten at Ava’s a half dozen times and find the quality of the food consistently good! We do take-out as well. Friendly service and price is right for quality. A little too noisy, but going early is better for conversation.
I have been to Ava many many times and always loved it. However, this visit was very disappointing and it was on Mother’s Day. We started with the roasted veggies which were fantastic. Then ordered the cheese platter, which I have to say was the saddest display I have ever seen, although the cheese was good, I do not expect to get shavings of cheese on a cheese platter. My mom ordered the sirloin, which she has had it in the past, but was very disappointed. I ordered the Tagliatelle con Funghi, which I have also had in the past - however this time it was tasteless. We ended with the lemon tart, which used to be a decent size but was a teeny little tart. The portions have decreased tremendously while the prices have stayed the same.
I appologized to my mom for her once favorite restaurant and promised to make it up to her with another Mother’s Day dinner.
Mediocre food. Altered menu to accommodate demand on holiday. Would not dine again.
Unfortunately, I missed the full menu as it was Mother's day, they only had a brunch menu.. but the food was great.
Awesome brunch for Mother’s Day!
Great Mother’s Day brunch. Food and drinks were delicious! Service was great! Will definitely return.
Waited 50 minutes for our food to be served. Restaurant for Mothers Day was not overly packed. Food marginal, over priced, small portions. Was incredibly disappointed overall. Have had better experience in past visits but will be a very long time before i would consider returning. Too many other far more worthy restaurants.
Restaurant was almost empty which concerned us. The food was outstanding. We had 3 apps, 3 entrees, cocktails, wine and 2 desserts- all were great. Only downside was not much ambiance and no acknowledgment of our special occasion (a birthday) even though it was stated on our Open Table reservation.
Very good food. Overpriced but it’s the SOHO area of Tampa so it’s expected
We initially were seated in the small separate dining area. There was a birthday table of 12 people. We asked if we could switch tables and the hostess was more than willing to accommodate us. Our request of a table outside with less noise was granted. Our waitress Peyton was superb. She was very attentive as was her assistant, Victoria. I ordered the funghi pizza which was delicious, actually one of the best pizzas I had eaten since moving from NY to Tampa 14 years ago. . My husband had the eggplant which he still was ok, but not great. Even though he didn’t enjoy his meal as much as I did, we will definitely be dining at Ava again.
The pasta with mushrooms was delicious, but my husband's dish did not have a thick and tasty red sauce. It was extremely noisy. No Italian music which I like.
Food was awesome! Meatballs and manchego balls were our favorite. Farm plate was good for a group of 6 plus apps and bits. Cocktails were delicious and they had a good wine selection.
Food was great - especially appetizers. Would like more Italian wine choices.
Very good food and atmosphere. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Great date night spot.
Service was slow despite not being crowded. Soggy crusted pizza.
Wanted to love this place as ambiance was nice. We sat at bar and server was helpful. We each had a glass of house wine. Had the octopus appetizer based on recommendation (some bites simply inedible) and polenta with add of Italian sausage. We shared a salad. Bill was $67. Wish the food was comparable to price. Will not return.
Ava is one of our favorite spots; great drinks and food. The smoking gun is the way to go. 🥃
We had a large group and were setup in a special room that could close off from the rest of the restaurant. It was perfect for our event! We really felt like we got the royal treatment but didn’t deserve it. We will be back for sure for more special events. Our guests loved it and they will be returning as well. Kudos to the superb staff! Oh, and did I forget to mention that the food was fantastic? Perfect in every way. Thank you!
They had a bad day. Dinner is normally very good but this brunch was the worst I’ve had. Poor service and food that had been sitting under a heat lamp for far too long.
It has a fun atmosphere but is very noisy. The food tastes good but the portions were very small and skimpy.
I was glad to show off one of Tampa Bay’s “top 50” restaurants to friends from out of state. Wow was I surprised. Can’t figure out how Ava made that list! The atmosphere, decor, etc are not at all special. Although the food was very good- that could not make up for the miserable service. The server had less experience it seemed then most high school students working Applebee’s. The manager only made it worse by stepping in a spilling wine. Never again.
Not the best. We had to flag down the waitress and the food was just adequate. Nothing special.
Amazing service! And amazing food!
