We had a lovely dinner! Good was spectacular! Highly recommend it!
Funny that I was hoping for a romantic French experience but the cook was Mexican and the waitress talked to us in Spanish. Food was good but they serve a mayonnaise mix with the bread instead of butter. I mean what’s more French than butter???
Wonderful authentic French bistro. The food was awesome and at a great value . Very good wine list as well. One of those true neighborhood gems one finds.
The main course is the highlight of the main. The stake & fries are substantial, but the Bass with Risotto is excellent.
The food is excellent. The place is cozy.
Above expectations. Had a great dining experience,
Really, the food is consistently good. And it's quiet enough that conversation is possible.
I wish more effort was put into details: the menus are dirty and food-stained. Food is not swept up from under the tables. Each time I've been there recently there've been no paper supplies in the restrooms.
Such observations do not inspire confidence in what the kitchen conditions might be like, and do not add to the dining-out experience.
Delicious dinner in Hillcrest! Great menu in quaint restaurant.
The waiter was wonderful and I like how spaced out the inside tables are from one another. French onion soup was a winner.
Delicious food, excellent service, lovely date night overall.
Delicious food and excellent service. Would definitely come back for the beef bourguignon.
Too salty, menu not up to date
Casual atmosphere with very friendly and attentive waitstaff and excellent food at a fair price. Beer/wine only; no full bar.
I’ve eaten French food in France a number of time and was not sure how the food would taste. I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. I will definitely be returning in the future.
The food was delicious but the wait staff today seemed distracted / irritable. Nonetheless it’s a good place to visit.
Excellent service. Spectacular food. I can recommend this restaurant to all gourmands. I am so happy that the restaurant reopened after Covid. I will be spending many evening dinners on that corner
I love french food and was excited to try Au Revoir, I have heard good things about this little gem and wanted to see if it was true. I started out with the escargot appetizer which was excellent I think it was one of the best I have had in a long time. I then ordered the New Zealand Rack of Lamb in a red wine butter sauce accompanied by mashed potatoes and veggies, It was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious. I can wait to my next visit.
Very nice neighborhood French bistro. Good food, great service, pleasant ambiance. Very low key. Food is authentic French bistro fare. Not fancy, but really good. Would definitely recommend this place
Excellent food, reasonable price, good wines list and price. Will be back.
The food selections were classic and wonderful.
The salmon with scallops was beautifully presented and the taste was incredible.
The lamb was cooked to perfection and the taste was even better.
Sauces were incredible.
Portions were big and prices were moderate.
The salmon with scallops.
The location is a strip center in the Hillside area of San Diego.
Don't let that hold you back as the area ids pretty neat to visit.
I used to really enjoy this place. The food was always outstanding. This time was pretty different. The menu seemed the same as last I was there, but taste and presentation sure weren’t. There are other French restaurants in town that are also consistently good to great. I’ll stick with them.
One of our favorite lunch spots and never disappoints.
Au Revoir consistently serves good French fare. Their onion soup in particular is delicious. Portions are generous and the wait staff very friendly.
We had a very nice dinner at Au Revoir last Saturday evening. The service was excellent. We enjoyed everything we ordered (mussels, salmon, sea bass, and wine). The lavender fries are a must. It is a darling spot. I recommend it for a date night or intimate occasion.
We have always enjoyed our meals at Au Revoir. Their mussels and frites are the best we have found in San Diego.
Spectacular food, the mussels were a work of art, the salmon and the filet were great....highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. Vvery nice birthday surprise for my wife.
The food is amazing! Californian Benedict is fantastic. I absolutely love this place.
I think the cheese plate is still our favorite thing there, but everything we have ever eaten has been delicious. The ambiance is cosey, and the French music playing in the background was a nice touch. My wife and I will definitely like to come here again the next time we are in San Diego.
This is a gem of a neighborhood restaurant. I have been a patron for six years
The Beef Bourguignon was salty and the meat was really overcooked. There were 2 small pieces of the overcooked meat, kind of like beef jerky. You would think that since we were eating at 4:30 when the restaurant opened it would be fresh and tender. My friend ordered the skirt steak. He was not happy with it. Not sure of the issue. My son ordered the lamb chops. He had no complaints except that his water glass was dirty and his napkin looked like it had old blood on it. The escargot was good and so was the fried calamari. The best part was the service was good. The server covered all of the inside and the outside tables by herself. Must have been 9 tables or so. Sad, because this place use to be good.
First time for dinner at Au Revoir. We really enjoyed the food starting with appetizers - escargot and cheese board. We each tried different entrees - filet mignon, sea bass, duck confit and the pork chop. All were excellent. Ended up too full to try the desserts. Will be back!
It's a rather modest place and parking in Hillcrest can be a challenge, but the food is as good or better than any other French restaurant in San Diego. The onion soup was authenticaly delicious as were my wife's snails which were appropriately swimming in pungent garlic butter. The double cut pork chop with cherry sauce was teriffic and my wife though her salmon was excellent. Their creme brulee is probably the best I've had...anywhere, ever. The restaurant is simple, as is their wine list, so don't go there if you want fancy French fare. But it's great food (with generous portions) at rather modest prices deservest 5-stars.
Fantastic menu, value, very laid back and no wait for a table for brunch. We'll definitely come back soon for the crepes!
Do not believe anything on their website. They do NOT have the Tuesday 3 course menu that is displayed on their website. Just one waitress who has only been there 1 week and one guy in the kitchen. The steak frites were smothered in mushroom gravy and the risotto was mediocre. Its too bad. I used to really like this place.
I took my boyfriend and his son here for Father's Day and we were extremely happy. We started with the calamari, which was a significant portion for an appetizer. My boyfriend had the lamb, I had a special (seared scallops with black garlic and mushroom risotto), and his son had a special (slow cooked rabbit). Each of us was blown away by our meal and loved trying bites of each other's. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and made the experience even better. We will definitely be back for another special occasion or to treat ourselves.
We had the most magnificent seared scallops on risotto for Dinner. Tough choice between that and the other special Rabbit.
My friends and I came for the food and we were not disappointed. The quality of the food was outstanding. Unfortunately, the restaurant was has having some difficulties that caused it not to have everything they usually have, but those difficulties were probably due to the pandemic and should be temporary.
The food and service were excellent. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. We are already looking forward to out next visit.
Always the best French food in Dan Diego! 💙🤍❤️
