Oyster artichoke soup was fantastic and oyster Brie app was lovely. Tuna was exceptional. The second main course, the shrimp etouffe, dropped the food score. Needed a bit of acid to brighten flavors and a bit of work on presentation. It had been sitting and sauce had skinned. The wine we selected was great. The comp champagne to begin was an excellent touch and matched our appetizers well. Atmosphere was fantastic and service was attentive. Don’t say this often... we’ll be back . Nice evening. Thankyou, Annunciation !
Outstanding. The pompano was delicious as the oysters bienville . The lemon icebox pie great.
The side car and wife’s wine were very good.
Service staff deserved a good tip.
Really like this restaurant!!!
We booked a table for 6 for 7pm. Arriving at the restaurant 10 minutes early, our table wasn't ready until 7:15pm. After being seated, we ordered drinks and an appetizer in a reasonable amount of time. They arrived promptly. The appetizers and drinks were both quite good. We then ordered main courses, at some point before 8pm. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. The waiter came by once with more bread. Then he told us ours was the next out of the kitchen. Guess what? The next out of the kitchen went to a different table. So, we waited some more. Then we asked what was going on and he said that our food was being plated. 15 minutes went by, and... no food. The food finally arrived around 9pm and just wasn't that good. They offered to "make it up to us" by giving us dessert, but we instead asked for them to comp us some items. They credited off 70 bucks worth of drinks, so that was positive. But, rest assured, next time we're in NOLA, we won't be making a the trek to this restaurant.
Neno was our waiter and was very professional. Great food and a convenient location.
From the moment we arrived the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The place is a converted warehouse; done very nicely. Lamp lit outside, clean cut within, and airy but in no way “cold”. A really nice bar for pre-dinner cocktails and then a nicely sized dining room with maybe 12 tables (there is more seating upstairs for groups I believe).
The menu was intriguing and the food, once we’d made our choice, absolutely sublime; both in terms of presentation and quality (the yellow-fin tuna and rice will have me back sooner rather than later)! A great wine list topped everything off nicely.
If I am asked “where?”, for an evening of NOLA fine dining (and a welcome change from the boisterousness of the French Quarter), my answer right now is easy... ANNUNCIATION!
I usually eat at Annunciation at least once a year when in NOLA. It never disappoints, and this year was no exception. There’s a new chef and the menu is now more Creole than before, but dishes are still outstanding and everyone in our party was pleased. Richard, the maître d’, was fantastic, as always.
Good dining. Well executed. Service was adequate. We were satisfied with the experience.
Service was very poor. We had 8pm reservations and at 8:50pm we still hadn’t even placed our order. The food was average at best. Very disappointing
Food was very good but waiter was lost. Took starter order for only two of our party of six rather than entire party. Could not answer questions on wine. Talked too much while chewing gum. Removed starter plates, etc and started replacing silverware, etc and had not taken our dinner order although we had been there for well over an order. Did not apparently understand the order of service. Requested a sweet wine and brought us a fruity one but not sweet. After we rejected it and ordered more wine he told us he was told not to open any more wine at our table. We are hospitality professionals having opened and managed restaurants and hotels all over the country (Hyatt, Renaissance) as well as worked and trained for Disney for 20 years and never been treated this way. Maitre’ D had to finish our table.
Superb food and service. The mid-size menu provides a broad choice of fish, meat, fowl, and vegetarian entrees. For appetizers, the oysters with spinach and brie are excellent, as are the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and remoulade. The duck and the pan seared fish were perfectly prepared and presented. The bread and desserts, especially the butterscotch cream, are delicious. Our waiter was appropriately attentive and friendly without being irritating. I recommend Annunciation highly for any occasion.
We absolutely loved this restaurant!! It was probably our best meal of the entire trip to New Orleans! My husband and I split two appetizers, the fried chicken and dumplings and the fried oysters with Brie. They were both AMAZING!!! We then split the trout almandine for our entree and my husband said it’s the best he’s ever had. We will definitely be back! We are frequent visitors to New Orleans and this is one of our very favorite meals we’ve ever had there!
I live in the neighborhood and have dined there for years. The service and cuisine are always terrific. A hidden gem in a city known for its great dining.
Great new find in Nola. We thought Boudin Balls were very tasty and not heavy. Beet and Caesar salads excellent. Bread could have been better, not bad but not great. Tuna was outstanding. Will be back. Portions larger than expected but just perfect. Dillon our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Carlos was great waiter! Food was good. Loved the beet salad.
Awesome experience at Annunciation. Great food, service, ambience. Our second time was as memorable as the first; would go back again.
I have seen the restaurant many times as I ride around the city. It wasn't until a waiter at another restaurant suggested we try Annunciation. I'm so glad he did. I cannot wait to go back. I suggest beginning with the baked oysters or chicken and dumpling. My friends and I tried several entrees: pasta primavera (ask for the grilled shrimp , grilled fish and yellowfin tuna were all exceptional.
First time at Annunciation. Had heard mixed reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Our server was very attentive. I got the tuna my date got the fresh catch which was drum. Both were very good. Had good looking appetizers, but all were fried. May want to look at adding 1 or 2 that aren’t fried.
Arrived at restaurant only to find it closed! Very disappointed as I had booked this reservation for a business dinner. Found ourselves walking around trying to find another restaurant that wasn’t booked.
Second time to dine at Annunciation since discovering this gem of a restaurant while visiting New Orleans. Outstanding menu complimented with great mixed drinks. Great ambiance all combined to make this restaurant worth returning to.
