Very overcrowded pub. Eating area small and a bit airless. Service slowish. Food ordinary. Not the great gastro-pub I had been led to believe.
We are expats living in California and were looking forward to an authentic fish and chips. We enjoyed the best fish and chips here and will return before our visit is over for the same again! Busy pub on a Friday evening but we enjoyed our meal in relative peace in the down a level restaurant. Great service, ambiance and food. Highly recommend!
Great food Friendly Staff
I was looking for a lovely place to eat at with my daughter on the celebration of her 21st birthday. A colleague of mine immediately suggested Anglesea Arms so I made a reservation. My daughter, her boyfriend, my son and I where all greeted in a the most friendly and welcome manner. While waiting for the table to be set, we where offered drinks at the bar which was very conversational at the time. Everything from the table settings to the awesome menu and the tasty selection of food and excellent service where all very impressive and certainly very much appreciated. We where all made to feel so special which really added a great touch to the day. Thank you to the staff of Anglesea Arms for helping to make the 21st celebration so much more memorable. Keep up the great work. I will certainly recommend this establishment to all my friends, family and fellow colleagues. We will be back soon :-) Regards, Tony & children
We were happy (relieved) to learn that the dining room is behind the very busy pub. Ten or so quiet tables, in a private area, with a lovely menu and wine list. Very nicely done..if you make it thru the crowd without having a beer slopped on you!
Great! I’ll be back.
We enjoyed Angelsea Arms. It is a very popular place for young people, and we enjoyed the energy. The roast was okay, needed a bit more spice. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips. Our server was great! We enjoyed our evening very much.
I have eaten at this pub many times. I invited a guest that had never been before. There was one waitress
running the entire dining room. She coped. The management are to blame for letting one young girl do everything. The service was slow and not very accurate.
The service and food were excellent!
It was a little warm...but it was the hottest day yet in London!!! Our waitress was fantastic!!
After walking 30 minutes trying to find a restaurant. They didn’t let us in because kitchen closes at 9 which was the time of my reservation. I told them it didn’t make sense and were very rude.
We were on a trip from the U.S., touring Scotland and England and ending up in London. This restaurant was recommended in Rick Steve's Great Britain book and we went there for our last evening meal in London. We were quite disappointed. The food was acceptable, but the service was not acceptable. We asked for a bread course as a starter and our server forgot to put in the order. We sat there for a long time before he came back to check on us and eventually someone else brought it to us. At the end of the meal, we asked for the dessert menu and when presented with it, we were informed that we should order quickly as the kitchen was closing. We ordered our first choice and they informed us later that this was no longer available. We then ordered a caramel sauce covered dessert and waited a long time for it to be presented. When it was finally brought, it tasted burnt, as if someone had left it in the oven too long. This would explain why we waited so long. We sent it back and had it removed from the bill. When presented with the bill, an optional 12.5% gratuity was already added to the bill. We requested that this be removed, which it was.
The only place in London we ate at a second time during or trip. Great food and great atmosphere. Make a reservation because they stay busy!!
My family all love the Anglesea. We go for the odd drink but mainly for lunch or a special dinner. You can even hire the restaurant area for private events. The food is excellent and it is very good value. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. A lusury: no music!
We couldn’t even get in the bar was so packed spilling out onto the street so we left
Love anglesea... go everytime we're in town Have a lovely dinner downstairs while the fun goes on at the bar
The waiter charged me and my friend twice. I asked to be divided she said yes im doing that...then i gave her my card and she said oh no is done and i said i asked to be divided and she said i will refund, well she didn’t and then charged me half and my friend the other half. I have to go again with all the receipts to get a proper refund! I normally go there for drinks all the time but not anymore! Very dissatisfied and disappointed also she added fish and chips that we didn’t order and gave me the wrong ticket when she charged me so i said ok i just paid someone’s dinner she said oh sorry i will refund it...the money got out of my account and im still don’t have it back!!
Forgot about our order and when it did arrive it was very substandard.
Anglesea Arms was a delightful experience after a long day seeing the sights. Great cocktails, great ales and a wonderful staff. Fish and chips are to die for. Definitely would come here again
went for a bday lunch with my son
very quiet in the restaurant; mid week etc
very prompt and great service
food was super
pricey but well worth the quality and location.
I would recommend this Pub
This is the place for young professionals in the Kinsington/Chelsea area of London. The place was hopping as we were there on an "cocktail promotion" night. We were lucky to get a table for dinner as most were there for the drinks and socializing. Food was good, but the service provided by Joseph was exceptional. He went above and beyond which was very much appreciated. Much different from our other experiences in London, where service is uneventful and slow.
Excellent service and lovely setting. Food was beautifully presented and despite the rest of the pub being full to bursting the restaurant area was an oasis of calm.
Elevated gastropub food, service when we were there 2 nights ago was exceptional.
We initially were put off by the large crowd outside, but once in the dining room it was a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend.
We are all in search of excellence . My dinner guests from the USA and I found it at the Anglesea Arms.
One doesn't need to drive for hours to find a beautiful authentic pub. We have one right here .
Kind regards, Eric Van Peterson
A wonderful old building. Foor was great, with large portions. Service was superb. Highly recommend..
Awful service & staff.
Hello sflove, Thank you for your review, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time with us, and that you thought that the staff and service weren't up to scratch. Would you mind getting in touch? I'd like to hear more detail and make amends if possible. All the best, James
Had a lovely Sunday roast. A little light on the beef but it was tasty. Great service.
Off the well beaten tourist track of Museum Alley. A mid week lunch was an oasis of comfortable quiet. Staff were friendly and efficient and food was surprisingly good for such a popular area.
I had often had a drink in this pub on a sunny evening. It has always been popular with a good atmosphere. On Thursday I decided to try the restaurant for a pre drink bite with a friend. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the meal was of good quality, better than the usual pub fare and it was served promptly. I would certainly eat here again and would recommend it especially if eating early evening as I'm sure it would be hectic later.
Lovely food though it took ages....
We booked on open table. Received confirmation. Paid for a taxi to the pub and were told upon arrival that they were out of food. This was 9:00pm. We then needed to order another taxi to find somewhere else to eat.
The selection of beers and the food were good. The pub was very busy and the staff were not as helpful as we would have expected.
Good food, great service. Nice place for a drink and/or food
Now I understand why this gastropub is one of the 10 best in London!
The staff were very friendly and nice but the food was cold.
An all round good town pub, lively, plenty of folk, good beer and grub!
Nice evening in a very cosy atmosphere in the dining room. Very nice waiter, menu was typical for a pub and very tasty. Good wine list. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Service with a smile and never felt rushed - arrived at 6.00 and didn't order for 45 minutes as so busy catching up with old friend.
The squid was fresh and really to be tried to be believed delicious .
Food was truly terrible, service useless and rude and an all round terrible experience. Definitely would not recommend!
