The atmosphere and the service was phenomenal! The flavours in the food were indescribable and fantastic. It was the best evening.
We never felt rushed during our meal at anytime and they were able to accommodate food allergies and sensitivities.
Exceptional food and above average service. It’s easy to see why this place is rated among the top ten restaurants in the city. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience.
The food was devine and the service was impeccable. Our waiter went above and beyond ensuring we had an excellent experience. He accommodated a special need we had with grace and humour.
A great culinary adventure. Both of us ordered the three-course option and shared each dish so we managed to try almost all of the five courses.
From the moment we walked though the door and smelt the amazing aromas we had a good feeling we were in for a treat. Service was prompt without being overwhelming and our server did a great job of explaining the menu. We knew it was a set menu ahead of time but were a little concerned that the food may not be what we wanted. We had nothing to fear as although it is Prix Fixe there are still decent choices to make. I don’t think it would matter though what you chose. Everything we ordered was spectacular. Well presented and very tasty.
Overall I have to say this is probably the best food I’ve tasted in Calgary since Whitehall shut down. This certainly a place we’ll return to.
Small Restaurant, most of our dinner was amazing. Beautiful presentations with all three courses, All of our (four of us) appetizers were excellent, for three of us the main course was much too salty (cod) and dessert was delicious.
The service was not what we expected for a small intimate place. Upon arriving, we let the server know that we were going to a show after dinner, either he was not listening or didn't care, for it was another 35 minutes before we placed our order - we felt totally ignored. Once we reminded him of our timing , he was efficient but far from gracious.
Would I go back? Probably not - bad service out trumps great food.
This is one of the best restaurants in Calgary and a far-too-well-kept secret, nestled as it is in the Garrison Woods shopping area. It's a small place and the customer is always first. As the meals are prix-fixe, the server will check to make sure the dishes suit the customers' tastes, and the chef will modify when necessary. Our group of six, most of whom had at least one request for change, were all catered to and happy with their meals. The chef clearly loves to mix many flavours, sometimes in unexpected ways and is a master at it. We had some really interesting dishes - the onion soup was superb. There are two choices for dinner: three courses or five, and I always order the five and then can't finish. The servings are supposed to be small but they aren't small enough for me. Those who chose the three course menu got larger portions and were well satisfied. There are wine pairings offered, and if you have the cash, go for it. Sometimes they are absolutely outstanding. The service is also outstanding.
Did the 5 course with wine pairing, excellent!! Server was knowledgeable and
Intuitive. phone ahead to see the days menu. Not a lot of variety, however what is offered will be excellent.
We will go back
Food was great, wine was awesome and the service top notch
The food was awesome, as usual. The chef does amazing things with potatoes. I highly recommend getting the wine pairings. They’re always spot on. Overall, it was a very enjoyable way to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The 5 course menu with wine pairings is a great value for the price.
A fantastic place if you are open to be surprised and appreciate chef's expression. You do not get to chose what to eat here, and that is exactly why it is so great!
Also very professional staff.
Recently moved the the Marda area. Been to many many of the local hot spots in the past 2 months.
The experience at Anew was the best experience I have had in Calgary. From the first moments at the table to the expert staff recommendation for wine it was simply excellent. We had a 3 course tasting menu. We each had something different to try a the tastes of each. The beet salad and the lamb crochets first was really outstanding. The mains were the fish for my friend and the lamb for me. Both were very very good and the portion size was much larger than expected.
There was a brownie desert with a ginger sauce that was simply one of the better chocolate deserts I have ever had.
Anew is a great neighborhood gem but also a destination restaurant for anyone in the city. The fact that it only offers a tasting menu may put some people off. However the 3 course gives you a choice of something of the daily changing menu. I strongly recommend giving this place a try. You will be back.
Service was amazing. Good was great, some dishes boardered too salty.
But the creativity of the menu is so refreashing.
This restaurant definitely has wow factor.
Best meal I've had in Calgary. Will definitely be back
Food was some of the best I’ve had, service was excellent, server was top notch.
Creative, menu. It was delicious. Unfortunately the service was average.
The food was very well thought out. There were complimenting textures and tastes without it being overly complex and confusing. It was one of the best Valentines dinners I have had out. The only complaint is that the portions were a bit small. My husband left “not hungry” as opposed to full.
All in all, it was very good and I will definitely go there again.
A lovely evening. Food and wine pairings were excellent and very creative
First date was overwhelmed with everything about the benue
Absolutely outstanding every time! The wine pairings and presentation are always bang on and I’d describe it as more of a dining experience than simply going out to eat. Highly recommend!
Outstanding meal and exceptional service. We are returning guests and plan to be back again soon! You will thoroughly enjoy the entire experience. Thanks Danielle and Chris!
We spent our wedding night dining with them and it was a special treat. Everything about this restaurant is top notch.
Absolutely love this restaurant. The service is wonderful and the pairings of wine with each course are perfection. I loved the description of the wine being shared by the server as he poured our wine. My favourite was the sherry at the end of the evening whose grapes had been "horribly abused during the processing and with the last of their life produced an amazing and rare sherry". I am always recommending Anew Table to anyone who asks where is a good place to eat in Marda Loop.
Delicious food. I love the concept of fresh, local food. Overall, a great experience.
We booked this restaurant as it was close to a Mount Royal concert we were attending and we're glad we did. The menu was creative, the service excellent and knowledgeable and the chef catered to our lactose and gluten intolerances brilliantly. Our server knew his wines and worked with us to ensure our special food requests were both safe and imaginative. Each course was well presented, explained and very tasty! Our table of 7 diners were impressed and each vowed to return. Nice job Anew Table!
New Years celebration.
Our group consisted of two couples and it was our first visit to Anew Table. All four of us were pleasantly surprised by how delightful an evening it was. The ambiance was relaxing and casually elegant. We were amused that the table covering was a sheet of paper, but with low lighting and candles at the tables the room had an appealing soft glow. Each of us chose the five course offering with wine pairing. The choices (on three of the courses) were pleasing to our group. The food was delicious, but be forewarned that the servings are small. This was not a negative to any of us, because having five courses, we left the restaurant completely satisfied. The food presentation was exquisite. Our servers were polite and efficient, and we were never rushed. My only comment would be that perhaps we should have inquired more about the wine pairings prior to ordering, as the men were not as happy with it being mostly white wine pairings. Lesson learned, next time we'll ask. And there will be a next time! It was a lovely evening!
Very good food, service was outstanding. We had 5 course with wine pairing and everything tasted amazing. But, it is expensive and portions are tiny.
Chef Chris delivers the goods ,be prepared for an evening of gastronomic delights.
Wonderful creative french cuisine
one the best resturants I have beento this year, Great service and food was perfect
WOW! This was my first time here and my husband and I absolutely loved it. We did the 3 course tasting menu with wine pairings. I have allergies to gluten (celiac) and dairy and they were very careful and attentive. The appetizer was absolutely amazing, so many flavours all melding together so well. Other courses were delicious as well. Will for be back!
Food was excellent. Nice menu with good taste. Service was too quick. 4 course in 90 min is too fast. Wine pairing was okay, but too special.
Food and wine was excellent. Service was great. As with most 5 course meals, it taks a couple of hours to get through the meal. Ambiance was great with the exception of the noise level in the restaurant. It is a small venue, and was so loud we couldn't hear one another talking at a normal level.
A wonderful place to connect or reconnect with others. This place is all about slow. Slow food delivered slowly and eaten slowly. All this said in a good way as you get time to contemplate the wonderful food thoughtfully made with ample time chat and catch up with those you bring on this culinary date.
Take the time to enjoy an evening here you will not be let down.
Amazing restaurant! Food was excellent, well priced and the wine tasting was great. We will be back!
one of the most innovative menus in Calgary. Always impressed when we come here. Wine pairings chosen by Alex were spot on. Food was brilliant.
When you go here you need to spend the evening and take your time enjoying the food and pairings. They did a wonderful job at pairing the food with some french wines. Our waiter new his stuff on the food and wine, and took the time to explain everything and answer any questions. Crispy egg - wow a taste explosion. Celery soup was one of the best soups I have ever tasted, could have just had three bowls of this and been satisfied for the evening. Overall a great experience. Would go there for another special occasion soon.
Anew was AMAZING!! The food was incredible, the wine pairings were really well done, and the service was really lovely. I took my boyfriend here for a date as a treat for both of us, and we killed almost 3 hours without even realizing it. Will definitely be back!
Food was salty.
No vegetarian options.
Drinks were ok. I can make it better at home.
Overvalued food. Three course menu was $48 pp which is pricey in my opinion.
It’s not bad...just underwhelming.
