Aioli Bodega Espanola
I’ve been here before and the food was so much better. The paella portion was much smaller than I remember and some of the tapas were just not interesting. The portobello mushroom was just a cooked cold portobello with feta cheese. The dessert o had was terrible. Cake that was still dry despite being soaked in wine and really only tastes like alcohol. I don’t think I’d come back here
We had a reservation but we spent 40 minutos eating for a table that was set time ago
Busy night lead to poor service. 2/3 dishes were tasty. Server was way too busy to focus. Took 30 minutes to get water. I’m assuming in another night it would have been more enjoyable.
Always an absolute favorite.
That day was a lot of smoke in the place, I couldn’t even breathe
Amazing food and great service. This is not a quick experience...know you will need a couple hours but also know the service and food are amazing. Loved it all.
Excellent! Daughter and I came here before a show. Exceptional food, ambiance and service. Would definitely recommend.
I love a meal of tapas! The Burek are the chief reason we prefer Aioli Bodga over other tapas restaurants; however, every single item is superb. Attentive staff and an excellent Malbec complete the repast. We enjoyed five tapas: patatas bravas, shrimp with garlic and wine, pork skewers, and grilled vegetable made a complete meal for two with variety and mouth-watering flavors. We're so glad Aioli is available to us!
Really nice tapas. We also ordered a seafood paella to share. This was a memorable meal with good Friends...
Great wine selections and cocktails. Try the Sangre y Arena. Staff and owner were friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The paella and tapas were amazing. The chocolate mousse was heavenly. We recommend it highly
From ambiance to service this place is wonderful. The food though is where it's at. Fresh and rich, the menu offers lots of options but doesn't sacrifice quality. The seasonal green beans were my favorite and seasoned to perfection. The lamb sausage was light and tender and bathed in a red wine ragu sauce. We We're lucky to have been seated by the window and our servers were all prompt, helpful and friendly. Worth the price and I will be returning as often as possible.
Pleasantly surprised on all fronts and enjoyed a fine dining experience with exceptional service and extremely well prepared and delicious tapas followed by a main course and delightful chocolate mouse desert!! Outstanding!!
My favorite restaurant in Sacramento.
My favorite restaurant in Sacramento.
Celebrating the opening of our new office with the lovely people that took charge and made it happen! Since I got there first, I started with a cava flute and it was dry, crisp and light fruity. Next upon everyone's arrival, we ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was delicious! We ordered way to much food but everything was great. I think the kitchen's hood wasn't working well and it got really smoky and uncomfy because of the smoke. All in all, the food is authentic, the drinks are good and the service is attentive.
It was a wonderful experience! We were seated immediately and had amazing attentiveness throughout the meal. The food was delicious and the ambience was perfect.
We are four tapas and a paella. Every bite was delicious! The server was top notch-listened to what we wanted and liked and steered us through the menu very well. Hope to make it back!
Love the food and the guitarist. Became noisy and difficult to hear each other talk.
I enjoy the uniqueness of this restaurant. It was perfect for our group of 6 for lunch; we chose the venue in large part so we could hear each other, but the fixed lunch is great value and everything was delicious. Separate checks meant an automatic 20% gratuity...as it should, since the server had more work to do. Read your bill carefully. I noticed I was charged $2 more for my cocktail, and decided not to bring it up.
Very beautiful interior but the Maitre D was not welcoming and the food was good but not great. The waiter was quite nice.
If you’re lucky enough to get a table on a busy night, you’ll be pleased with the quality of the food and attentiveness of the service. The ingredients are fresh and tasty and you feel you stepped into a gem in Spain itself. Beware, however, that the dining rooms are small and the ventilation is not the best, so you are likely to smell like the kitchen upon leaving for the evening. Nevertheless, the food is worth the minor inconvenience. Enjoy!
First tme visitor. Big fan of Spanish food, so I was looking forward to soma tapas and paella. Started with a pitcher of sangria. They spice the sangria, which is new to me. I didn't dislike it but I also didn't think it added anything either. For the tapas, the chicken skewers and meatballs were delicious. The potatoes with aioli were nothing special and I wouldn't order again. The paella valenciana was a beautiful work of art, just stuffed with seafood and chicken. So stuffed it was hard to get to the rice. That's a good problem to have. We had 5:00 PM Saturday reservations, and the restaurant was full and noisy by 5:30. Service was a little slow, but the manager (owner?) was present and checked in often, and the paella only took 30 minutes instead of the quoted 45. We live in the Bay Area so I thought the prices were reasonable compared to similar restaurants there.
Everything was wonderful. The food is classic, fresh, and delicious. The ambiance was romantic with their live music. I would definitely recommend, and we will be coming back!
The service was really amazing. I really enjoyed Chuelton con curry. It was a great Mix of beef short rib/polenta/Jamaican curry. Great location. The only reason I gave the restaurant a four in some areas revolves around the menu and the papas bravas. Fist impressions matter. The paper menus had to be unfolded. They were wrinkly and dirty. The menu was much too complicated to read. If the menu situation can be resolved, there is no stopping this fantastic tapas place. The papas bravas were overcooked. The service really was superb. The rest of the dishes were tasty. The seafood was fresh and delightful. If you are craving authentic Spanish seafood tapas, this is the perfect place. That’s what I was craving and that is what they cooked for me. I was delighted.
The food choices and quality has always been exceptional every visit we’ve made here. Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They also have one of the best Dine Downtown Sacramento menus in town!
Dinner before a play with my mom and aunt.🥰
To be completely honest, this was maybe the fourth or fifth time at Aioli and this was our least favorite. First, the calamari was chewy and tough to eat. This was the first time ever that I left calamari on my plate. Secondly, the restaurant was so loud that my wife and I joked about texting each other rather than trying to hear the other’s comments. Something needs to be done to fix the sound on busy nights. The guitar player was one table away and we never heard him. If a couple cannot hear each other from across a small table and the calamari was over cooked, it might be tough to get us to come back.
My girlfriend and I were celebrating the acceptance of her new career and so it was a special date night occasion. We had a reservation for 6:45p but didn’t sit down till 7:30p because it was unusually busy for a Wednesday evening. The Dine Downtown was in full swing so the restaurant was packed and was the reason our reservation was pushed well beyond the time. It was fine because we sat down to a couple, Michael and Will, who were very kind and welcoming which made the experience worth the wait. We were served our appetizers and wine at the bar as well as our table, all while being entertained with the couple next to us. The service was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu and we never felt neglected. Finally the food arrived and to our delight it was just as we anticipated, delicious. There was even enough for leftovers that we took home. Overall the experience was a wonderful evening at a restaurant that always delivers on service, delicious food, and great ambiance.
The ambience is lovely, and the food is delicious. Definitely a top spot for Spanish food in Sacramento.
We went for Dine Downtown and were disappointed in all respects except service and wine recommended. The seafood was rubbery. The beet and orange salad was ruined by the addition of flavorless and out-of—season tomatoes. The desserts were equally disappointing. Probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in a restaurant in Sacramento in recent memory.
Wonderful experience beginning to end! We chose Aioli to celebrate a 90-year and 64-year-old’s birthdays during Dine Downtown week. The menu was very inviting with more than one option in each course, and everything was delicious with great service. Good wine recommendation for a Spanish wine. We always look forward to going back to Aioli.
Excellent food and service. Loved the ambiance and live guitar music in the background. Had a lovely table by the window. We’ll definitely return.
Had an outstanding New Years Eve dinner here. Food was excellent as was the entire evening. Great recommendations from the staff too. New favorite spot in town!
New Year’s Eve early dinner
This Spanish restaurant is excellent. The wait staff is wonderful and the lessons they provide on Spanish cuisine are outstanding! The paella, which was modified to avoid my wife's allergies to shellfish, was fantastic. The tapas were very interesting and flavorful.
I believe this restuarant has some unique dishes, haven't tried them yet, bit worth exploring.
Love this place. We have so many restaurants in walking distance now we only make here 3 times or so in a year (it's a 10 min drive). My husband and I have been going here since our son was in a carrier. He is 22 now. When we lived further away we still made it here once a year! Best Service & Tapas in Sac! Try the oxtail!
Always a delight to have dinner on Christmas Eve! it's a family tradition we look forward to every year!
Had a great dinner here! Food was excellent, reasonably priced. The portion sizes were a bit unpredictable. For example the duck was nearly entree sized (and amazing!), while the mushroom ravioli had literally just 3 small ravioli? Ambiance was lovely—had a live guitar player! The servers was well intentioned, but seemed inexperienced. One kept trying to take my mother’s plate when she wasn’t finished eating. Overall good meal and would come back.
My party and I dined here for the first time. Having never had Spanish cuisine, we wanted to try out a place that seemed to get good reviews. We arrived a bit late for our reservation (parking!) but had no trouble being seated. The lighting was low and the table had a small tea light setting a very romantic mood. There was a gentleman playing spanish guitar nearby which really added to the ambiance. I do wish there had been a bit more space between us and the table next to us, but it didn't make the dining experience uncomfortable. We briefly reviewed the menu and selected a few dishes. We weren't sure how much to order though and would have welcomed an orientation of sorts from our server. We wanted paella but couldn't choose from the multiple variations available. We went with the paella valenciana, pechuga de pato (duck breast). During the time between when we ordered and the time we got our food, we interacted with at least 3 different staff people checking in on us. They were very attentive, even doing things like refilling our water using the bottle that had been left on the table.
Our food arrived in a very timely manner. Though the paella was good, without a doubt, we preferred the pechuga de pato to the paella. The flavor was richer. All said and done, including drinks, we spent a little over $100 total for 2 people. It was a nice experience that I would recommend to people looking for a nicer place to have a romantic dinner.
Nice place to take a date. Live music and romantic Spanish ambiance. Pallea was amazing!
