Arrived on time for our reservation at exactly 5:30pm, we’re told to wait and weren’t seated for about 7 minutes. Wait staff seemed to be in a constant rush, constantly asking if we were done more than several times which made it hard to enjoy the night towards the end of our meal. Food came out timely but was slightly under seasoned and a large portion of the paella was over cooked and stuck to the bottom of the pan meaning the little paella we did get was in part inedible. The owner seemed to be more interested in waiting on his returning customers than wearing his mask correctly. Prices were steep considering the quality and portions of the food were average at best. You’re better off going to Spain and trying real Spanish food than wasting your time here.
Food wasn't bad, not memorable either. Service was pretty bad. They forget one of our tappas not once but twice. One of the servers, possibly the manager or owner was pretty rude to me for not not knowing the name of a wine on their menu. Service was slow although they really weren't that busy. I would pass on this place in the future.
Owner of restaurant is very rude! He barks orders to wait staff on front of customers and often harrasses n berates customer at random! I loved this restaurant for many years, but my last three dinners there have been btwn horrible n sub-par!
This is the best Spanish restaurant in the area. Only downside at this time is eating outside at night. A little cold and noisy. Can wait until they can open up 100% inside dining.
Food just OK. Paella was easily enough for 3 but waiter insisted would only feed 2. So we ended up over ordering.
This was the first time my friend and I have dined out in a year, due to the pandemic. It was wonderful to have dinner again at Aioli. We dined outside. The server wore a mask. The food, four small plates and dessert, were excellent along with the service. The wine list is smaller than it used to be. I believe this is the case with many restaurants. Overall it was a joy to have a very good meal at one of my favorite restaurants.
Excellent appetizers and the service was great. Last minute choice but would go back again.
Worst experience, worst service I've ever tried and the owner is an arrogant rude man. My son's plate came dirty and when I asked to change it he complained and he doesn't wear a mask.
Excellent evening, even though the credit card machine crashed, which delayed payment a bit.
Great menu and excellent service. It is noisy on the street if you're dinning outside. Just know that in advance.
Nice! We were inside and there was enough distance between tables for social distancing.
Place was dirty, food was disgusting, staff were mediocre.
We love the food at Aioli Bodega Espanola but go here for special occasions only. This time we sat outside on the patio in back which was a first and it was nice and the waiter was attentive. We did have a little trouble accessing the menu with our phones as we are over 70 years old. Thank you.
Wait staff was short with us and not very helpful. Half of the dishes were delicious the other half were terrible. One of our main course dishes was forgotten and arrived late. The paella had no flavor, I don’t recommend either of them.
Throw a dart and hit a dish, you'll sure to find a winner. The sangria goes down easy and pairs well with any of the generously delicious plates.
Came here for my fiancee's birthday. We ordered food which never arrived, were given the wrong glass of wine two times in a row, and our server suggested a dish and then didn't know the ingredients when we asked about came in it.
I normally forgive service mistakes like this, but I couldn't considering what happened next. After our appetizers arrived, we told our server we were going to enjoy what was on the table and then decide if we wanted entrees or continue to order more tapas. He went missing for twenty minutes, and when he finally returned he abruptly dropped our check. He didn't ask if we wanted to order more, or even if we wanted dessert. The kitchen was still open. We weren't there late or anything- it was super insulting and I ended up having to take my fiancee to In N Out and get a piece of birthday cake from Safeway. Thanks Aioli.
Although the food we were able to order was good, I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The service was so bad, I cannot give a good review.
To put this in perspective. We were the only ones seated outside when we got there and the following happened.
Water was on the table cloth and when we moved the table cloth to avoid water dripping on us a plate broke. The broken plate stayed there for 15 + minutes. When she picked up the plate, we had to ask for another one 10 minutes later.
There was a bug in my wine glass.
Our water was not once refilled, even though other people around us were.
She didn't ask us if we wanted the heater on, but asked everyone after us.
I asked for to go boxes for 4 items, but did not get a bag to put them in, and had to stand in line for 10 mins to get one.
The worst service at any restaurant I have ever encountered. My date also found the disparity of service to our table and other tables around us very peculiar.
My husband lived in Spain for years and their food and culture is near and dear to his heart, so we were hopeful Aioli would be a little taste of "home". It was! Our server was super helpful and the food was amazing! We ordered about 4 tapas and a dessert, which was more than enough food for the two of us, but we kept wanting to try more things, it was so good. We sat outside under their patio they created for social distancing, which was really charming. We will be back soon, for sure!
I had a reservation for 5 PM I got to the concierge and he sent me outside with nobody there inside the restaurant there was plenty of tables I asked to be changed to dine inside and I kind of felt like I was given an attitude like OK come this way overall it was a good experience a little pricey on the food but the taste was good
Took my wife for her birthday...waitress was given info wife's bd....and there was no wish to her , no special experience except at end where she wrote on receipt happy birthday....worst experience with service ever !
Food was extremely delicious, the service was great!
The food was amazing! The service as well. It was just a little chilly due to the outdoor dining
Met family there for a very enjoyable meal. During COVID protocols they did an excellent job of keeping everyone comfortable
It was fun trying all different dishes and sharing small plates. The garden seating area is lovely and relaxing.
The worst restaurant experience ever! Even after making a reservation, we were seated at a dirty table which the host cleaned AFTER we sat down. After we got our water, no server approached us for the next 40 mins! They began taking food orders from customers who came in 10-15 mins after us. We waited patiently and tried to get servers attention but that was unsuccessful. After the 40 mins we called the restaurant to say we have been seated and haven’t received any service to which his response was “oh that’s probably because we didn’t see you” (same person who seated us). we reminded the host that we had a reservation and were seated. After we hung up and host came out he just watched us leave without apologizing or taking a minute to address our disappointment.
Bad service. Rude owner. I love their food, but I’m not going back my friends and I had a bad experience.
Great food and good service. The menu is not expansive, but the few things they have on there are done well. Our waitress was attentive and helpful, and we were seated quickly in the back area by the host despite arriving a few minutes late to our reservation. If you are dining in the evening, I recommend having a jacket. There were not enough heaters to keep those at the edge of the garden, so it was a chilly night but the food helped. The staff tried to get the heaters going for us throughout the night (but the wind kept shutting them off). We ordered various tapas, the Mediterranean salad, and the Paella Valenciana, and a pitcher of sangria for the table. The salad, tapas and sangria were brought out within a few minutes but the paella takes about 40 minutes (as noted on the menu).
We waited long before the server took our orders. Nevertheless, the food was good.
Great service and the catch of the day plate was amazing!
Owner is something else, seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent, tasty food, with quality ingredients - I was pleasantly surprised. Also, they make a great bulleit manhattan. Unfortunately we had a bad table by the street, but the food and drinks more than made up for it!
One of my favorite restaurant
Food and service were fabulous! As was the wine. Value was good also. I give this restaurant kudos for making the sidewalk as comfortable as possible. I can’t wait to eat inside again!
Service, ambiance and wine were excellent. The octopus was a bit on the rough/elastic side, and the patatas bravas kinda pastvtheir prime. Lamb skewers and especially the salads were on point! I’d def give it another shot, I’ve heard good things about this place, and maybe this time was a fluke
Lovely service and food quality
The owner and his team were FANTASTIC! Thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance! Highly recommend!
The appetizers and wine was great!! Paella was under seasoned.
Loved this place, I love the scenery and authentic food! Our server Karen was wonderful and very communicative on everything. Food came out really fast, drinks took a bit which we didn’t mind at all because it was busy and it seemed like they were low on staff. But love this place, highly would recommend to everyone. Hope to see small businesses like this thrive through this pandemic!
The last two times I’ve been to this restaurant the service has been very poor. Not only did they forget one of the four of us is meals for the night, but they never checked on us or refilled or waters and brought drinks way too late.
The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because Aioli’s wine list is respectable. Other than that, this was a terrible experience. The server, while friendly enough when he was around, was barely visible throughout the night. Water glasses remained empty, and after we got our food, he never came to check how things were. We ordered the pulpo, but this was hardly recognizable as octopus at all. It looked like squid masquerading as octopus and was burnt to a crisp. The cook must have been heavy on the flames that night because our chorizo was also overcooked. The patatas bravas while flavorful were not hot and crispy as they should have been. Moreover, the person who appeared to be the owner was walking around with his mask halfway down his face the whole time talking to people who he probably assumed to be high rollers, but completely ignoring us. Fine with me as he clearly didn’t know how to wear a mask properly and that will certainly be my last time dining there.
