Silva was wonderful! We came for dinner after getting married and she remembered us from our engagement dinner some years earlier. We had charcuterie, octopus, and lamb appetizers. They were all so amazing! The octopus was so tender. For entrees the duck breast and the bucatini pasta. It was fantastic to have a properly cooked duck breast, nice medium rare with super crispy skin! The bucatini pasta had the richest sauce, but also bright and fresh, perfect. It's in my top 5 meals.
We lived in Spain and miss the food. aioli did not disappoint! The paella was awesome along with the tapas while you wait. Plan on going back again soon!
Food was great, servers were nice and knowledgeable. The only issue is that we waited a little longer before we were seated. Also, check in wasn’t well organized. It wasn’t clear were to go to do the check in. Other than that it was a great experience overall.
Mother Daughters lunch. Mom loved her meal!
Delicious food, friendly and knowledgeable staff, will be back
This was one of my faves in Sac and now I may not go back. After one of our tapas being delivered to another table and finally getting a new one, we had a waitress leave, and were left without staff until we asked for service. No check in on our drinks and the Paella we waited 90 mins for was ALSO delivered to another table. When we inquired, we were informed we could wait an additional 45 mins for a new one. No thank you!
Food was flavorless. Patatas bravas should be crispy clouds of deliciousness but ours were boiled mush. Paella should have a crisp crust at the bottom, but this was soupy and flavorless, with overcooked scallops and rubbery mussels. Salad was barely dressed and consisted of nothing but shreds of lettuce, including bitter raw radicchio. The outdoor dining area was extremely noisy due to traffic on L Street, and indoor air quality was very poor, the area was filled with smoky haze from the kitchen indicating a malfunctioned hood vent.
Bad service (none knew who our waiter was, we sat for 15 minutes without anyone coming, waiter then got us water) wine was not offered to taste. . food was late and not up to par with the usual experience.
One of our best meals in a long time! I recommend splitting the paella between two people. It’s a great deal and we still had leftovers. Will be back soon!
Delicious, fresh, authentic food. Nice service. Would highly recommend!
We made dinner out of 7 tapas for 3 people. All were excellent. Wish the torta espanola would have been room temperature instead of cold. Loved the aioli dip for the bread.
Very nice, cozy and quiet patio in the back.
Food was delicious with the exception of the desserts that seemed only okay. Staff was personable and professional.
excellent paella mariscos salad was fresh sauces were perfect
Been going to this restaurant for years. Always one of our first coices for date nights and special events.
We were handed dirty plates and that was a turn off right there. Not sure if that old man is the owner but he was kind of rude. We made a reservation and he told us it’s gonna be wait and we did wait at least 30 minutes. Food was okay. It’s not too pricey but we didn’t like the quality of the food there. Service okay for Saturday night.
Love the food here. Ambience loud, service slow to get our dessert, which was chocolate mousse and a flan. But the tapas is delicious!
Great Spanish food. Service was top notch. Overall a great place to eat, relax and enjoy.
My first time here and amazing! We were seated immediately and to some beautiful Spanish guitar music! The food and serve was spectacular. I am definitely going again!
Great time and love the owner. He made husband’s birthday dinner SO special!! Real longtime Midtown gem. Every time is terrific whether just dinner or special occasion. ❤️🥂💋
We went for tapas. We had both shrimp dishes, the grilled, octopus, duck, and asparagus soup. It was all delicious! The Tempranillo wine went with everything. Afterwards I had the Crema Catalana. That was the perfect finish.
Very nice folks and a beautiful place. The garden is lovely and so is the interior.
We highly recommend Aoli Bodega!
Great service, cute back patio, food came out quick, and the sangria was great :)
We made a reservation on open table and we’re not able to even be sat for 20 mins??? We ended up leaving and getting dinner else where. The line was out the door. I don’t know if their host quit the day of or what happened. We’ve been here before and it wasn’t like that. I hope this isn’t what their business is turning into
Arrived on time for our reservation at exactly 5:30pm, we’re told to wait and weren’t seated for about 7 minutes. Wait staff seemed to be in a constant rush, constantly asking if we were done more than several times which made it hard to enjoy the night towards the end of our meal. Food came out timely but was slightly under seasoned and a large portion of the paella was over cooked and stuck to the bottom of the pan meaning the little paella we did get was in part inedible. The owner seemed to be more interested in waiting on his returning customers than wearing his mask correctly. Prices were steep considering the quality and portions of the food were average at best. You’re better off going to Spain and trying real Spanish food than wasting your time here.
Food was very good if not pricey. Host that seated us neglected to sign us in . We lost our points and was automatically canceled as an Open Table reservation. Suggestion to verbally tell them to check you in.
Food wasn't bad, not memorable either. Service was pretty bad. They forget one of our tappas not once but twice. One of the servers, possibly the manager or owner was pretty rude to me for not not knowing the name of a wine on their menu. Service was slow although they really weren't that busy. I would pass on this place in the future.
Owner of restaurant is very rude! He barks orders to wait staff on front of customers and often harrasses n berates customer at random! I loved this restaurant for many years, but my last three dinners there have been btwn horrible n sub-par!
This is the best Spanish restaurant in the area. Only downside at this time is eating outside at night. A little cold and noisy. Can wait until they can open up 100% inside dining.
Food just OK. Paella was easily enough for 3 but waiter insisted would only feed 2. So we ended up over ordering.
This was the first time my friend and I have dined out in a year, due to the pandemic. It was wonderful to have dinner again at Aioli. We dined outside. The server wore a mask. The food, four small plates and dessert, were excellent along with the service. The wine list is smaller than it used to be. I believe this is the case with many restaurants. Overall it was a joy to have a very good meal at one of my favorite restaurants.
Excellent appetizers and the service was great. Last minute choice but would go back again.
Worst experience, worst service I've ever tried and the owner is an arrogant rude man. My son's plate came dirty and when I asked to change it he complained and he doesn't wear a mask.
Aioli never disappoints! Went here for dinner with friends and left it up to our waiter to order for us which was so fun (but can get a little pricier). Would definitely recommend getting onto the back patio if you can!
Excellent evening, even though the credit card machine crashed, which delayed payment a bit.
Great menu and excellent service. It is noisy on the street if you're dinning outside. Just know that in advance.
Owner was rude. Not real Spanish food.
Nice! We were inside and there was enough distance between tables for social distancing.
Place was dirty, food was disgusting, staff were mediocre.
We love the food at Aioli Bodega Espanola but go here for special occasions only. This time we sat outside on the patio in back which was a first and it was nice and the waiter was attentive. We did have a little trouble accessing the menu with our phones as we are over 70 years old. Thank you.
Wait staff was short with us and not very helpful. Half of the dishes were delicious the other half were terrible. One of our main course dishes was forgotten and arrived late. The paella had no flavor, I don’t recommend either of them.
Throw a dart and hit a dish, you'll sure to find a winner. The sangria goes down easy and pairs well with any of the generously delicious plates.
