Incredible venue with amazing food. The service was disjointed and cold. The value of the pairing was fair at best. I will give them another try to see if I can feel blown away as that’s what I was expecting. I’ve already made another reservation if that tells you anything. Cheers
Celebrated our 20th anniversary here and it exceeded our expectations. Something very special not a norm for us. The tastings were flavorful, the platings intriguing & meticulous. Loved everything and so filling too. We had the 5 course tasting and so many things blew us away but the Escabeche, the Cod, the Wyagu and desserts were killer.
Due to Covid, experience was not the same as the before.
Sept 5 incredible evening at the Addison! Fabulous food service setting!
Celebrated our anniversary at Addison. It didn’t disappoint. Great attention to detail. We chose the 5-course meal, which was very generous. Each sauce, presentation, element, well, we were delighted. Cannot complain, just applause.
It was everything you would hope for from a 5-star restaurant with a Michelin star. The food, wine pairings, service was all brilliant. The setting is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Looking forward to a return visit.
one of the most memorable meals I've ever had. Purely magical!
Absolutely incredible. Most unique experience of my life!
Despite restricted seating because of Covid - the atmosphere was fabulous. In fact, it was better as we love to eat outside. The patio was beautiful and tables were spaced more than 6 ft apart. The meal was amazing. We had the 10 course tasting menu and upgraded our choices plus we had the upgraded wine pairing - all fabulous. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful (despite having to wear masks). A very special evening.
The most elevated dining you will experience. Every dish beautiful and umami; pairings were phenomenal.
Amazing food, service, view, and accordance to rules in these hard times
My first Micheline star restaurant and it was very good and beautiful. The desserts were just OK, but maybe because I was so full from all the courses. The only real surprise was that the glass of champagne was $55! I'm glad I resisted their urging to have another glass. The staff could have been a little friendlier and more informative about the food. We wanted to take the honey brittle home with us because we couldnt eat another bite and you'd think that if you pay $170 for a meal they would let you do that but they said no.
The presentations were outstanding. Detail, color, variety, quantity (!) amazing.
The tastes were extraordinary and for the most part, delicious.
A favorite was the rolled avocado "burrito" with the tiny flowers. Beautiful and delicious. The ambiance would have been wonderful, next to the waterfall, but it got darker during the second course, and by the fourth, there was no color to the presentations, at all. Fully dark by the end, and the presentation could not be really seen or appreciated. The candle was so soft it had no effect. Tastes were appreciated, however.
We shared the wine paring, which was new wines for us, and matched well with the selection.
As always, Addison's is fabulous and the best overall restaurant in San Diego. And while they have done an admirable job in adapting to the COVID-19 situation, there are a few things that need addressing. They have a list of COVID-19 procedures on their website, including guests having their temperature checked upon arrival - not done, and hand sanitizer being available - none provided or visible, including outside of the bathrooms. The dining experience is understandably diminished somewhat by no physical menu or wine list. However, they provide a QR code at the table for the wine list. I suggest that they do the same for the menu. While they provide name cards with each dish, the usual wonderful verbal descriptions of each dish are no more. They could easily do this description with a menu accessible by QR code. Finally, since they are no longer doing the table side descriptions they did not warn us that one of the dishes when bit into may squirt out the sauce. Mine went on the tablecloth, down my suit jacket and all over my pants. Fortunately my wife's just hit the tablecloth. We both spent the remainder of the meal with napkin overlays covering the stained tablecloth and my suit is at the cleaners. Again, Addison's is a fantastic restaurant, trying to adapt in these trying times, so these criticisms are constructive in nature for their consideration.
It was outstanding but extremely expensive. You are also have a limited selection based on what the chef is preparing that day.The food was delicious but I would have liked to be able to order an entree size of whatever he was preparing that day versus just the 5 or 10 course meal which is all appetizer size.
It always good to be back at Addison where excellent Southern California inspired dishes meets impeccable service. With COVID-19 still around, Addision has adapted their entire service to comply with the safety and cleanliness needed during this time.
A wonderful time as usual. Fantastic service. What a delicious meal
This is truly an experience. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and were treated like royalty. Such special care with everything ... 5 courses turned into 10 and were treated to after dinner drinks and dessert specials that were AMAZING!!! Kudos to the Chef, Maitre 'd, servers. Outstanding and unforgettable experience! Thank you.
We’ve been to some of the best of the best restaurants around the world as we’re foodies and love to experience new and inspiring cuisine. Time and time again we come back to the Addison and feel it’s better than most other Michelin Star restaurants we’ve been to. Not that the others aren’t great...they are. But the Addison is our favorite. From ambiance, to service and the friendly knowledgeable staff, to the extraordinary food and wine selections...this is our go-to spot to celebrate something special. We love the Addison. So lucky to have this wonderful restaurant right in our own backyard.
The wine pairings were on point. 5 courses is plenty of food. I can’t even imagine what 10 courses entailed. The service was exceptional. Very considerate and catering to food allergies.
Our 5-course meal was very memorable and quite an experience. If you are looking for a very special meal (and have some coinage burning a hole in your pocket), you won't be disappointed.
Always a wonderful meal and experience and we are glad they had an outdoor, COVID-compliant setup for our annual anniversary dinner. The courses are all so inventive and delicious - the Parker House rolls are the best bread you will ever have -- and the attentiveness and ambience are wonderful. Obviously this is a premium gourmet meal and not an everyday dining experience for the 10-course tasting menu, so it is expected to be a big ticket cost but we love it and want to continue to support this wonderful restaurant and hotel resort.
This place is the definition of class and good food. We will be back.
For modern California cuisine with Asian, French, and Mexican influences, this is an essential stop if you live or are visiting SoCal. If you can part with the change, go for the full 10-course tasting with the wine pairing. It's a notch above the 5-course and the pairings are impeccable matches for the dishes.
Michelin 1 Star; Forbes 5 Stars; AAA 5 Diamonds....need I say more? Very well deserved. You won't be dissapointed.
Beautiful setting, impeccable service and quite simply the best meal I have ever eated!
Love The Addison ever since we discovered it in March. I was so glad to go back in the oudoor setting, but it is louder and not as romantic. Still a fabulous experience and would still recommend it during these times.
The service and food were excellent. Loved the outdoor patio seating. We did the 10 course tasting and loved it.
You will not find another restaurant in San Diego with such an unusual and outstanding selection of food. Everything is unique and created daily by the chef. It is also very expensive, but worth the experience.
Three Michelin stars!!!
First time experiencing a restaurant like this... definitely coming back!
Great dining experience. Food and service were exceptional. Because of COVID-19, dining was out on the patio, which was very nice and did not detract from the dining experience in any way. Weirdly, they refused to provide a container or even a piece of foil to take home leftover bread and dessert that we could not finish eating at the restaurant. We recommend that you bring a couple of baggies if you want to take a bit of anything home with you.
Undescribable. Even with covid mitigations in place the experience was magical.
For a restaurant of this caliber (Michelin Star), the main thing I found disappointing was the pacing of the dishes. My boyfriend and I opted for the 10-course option and some of the first few dishes were perfectly timed out, but as the night went on (specifically right before the charred corn + caviar course), we were waiting longer and longer between courses; we waited nearly an HOUR for the charred corn and caviar. We also noticed that we were waiting longer and longer to have our water refilled and to be asked about more cocktails. I have been to many restaurants offering this type of menu and of this merit and have never once waited as we did.
Also, when I asked our server about food pairings for cocktails, she asked ME what a cocktail was called... I’m not sure that’s appropriate and I expect servers to have knowledge of their extensive menu when visiting this type of restaurant.
While I fully understand that restaurants are adjusting as we reopen due to COVID-19, for the price and caliber of this restaurant, I find those two things extremely off putting.
When it comes to the night as a whole, the staff was overall pretty friendly and professional, the views from our table were unbeatable, and the MOST of the food was up to par.
I would recommend Addison to friends/family for the views and overall ambience of the restaurant, but I would absolutely warn them of the horrible pacing of the dishes and to essentially plan six hours of their day to dedicate to this.
Addison has evolved to all outdoor patio seating, which is very cozy and comfortable. Their service delivery in response to Covid-19 is exemplar. We felt very safe and protected. Food is impressive as ever.
We went on the first day they opened after being closed for 5 months, so their service was still shaking off its rust...but they really tried hard to make us feel comfortable.
Phenomenal friendly charismatic service. Excellent food and wine selection.
Greatest dining experience I’ve ever had.
We were celebrating a milestone birthday and Addison was the perfect place to do it. We were very pleased by the lovely setting, the service and the fabulous food. We had the 5-course tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was great.
This is truly a extraordinary restaurant, and it comes at an extraordinary price. So, come and enjoy knowing you are in for a special treat.
We went for my girlfriend's birthday on a week night. Ended up electing the full 10 course option. Everything was delicious. Perfectly paired courses that really opened up our palates to new levels. The hardest thing was to chose the wines. Their wine menu is an extensive and fabulous 100 pages with over 3000 to choose from, by the glass, half-bottle, or full bottle, pending on your needs and broken down by world region. I was impressed to say the least. We were fortunate enough to have some time after work to get there early enough to enjoy the heated outdoor patio to try a couple cocktails before the meal in their lovely lounge before being seated for the long evening. We were there for a few hours enjoying everything. The level of service was the best we have ever had in San Diego by far. The aesthetics of the building to the interior design, even the beautiful gold course and neighborhood on the windy road to drive up, was also all part of the ambience that made our night so memorable. One to put in the books that we will never forget. Expect to pay for that high quality value, but know it will be worth every penny. We will surely be back for another big night to celebrate another special occasion in the future, for sure. My girlfriend told me today even that she has been still dreaming about their cheeses for the rest of the week!
By far one of the most exceptional dining experiences of my life.
Based on how many courses you plan to enjoy, plan accordingly. Our 10-course dinner easily could have easily taken 3.5 hours.
The Addison is an experience that ALL foodies must try at some point in their life.
