Apparently there’s a new chef and therefore a new menu. It wasn’t great but maybe I was expecting too much as we’ve dined there many times before when we lived across the street.

Our waitress, Valerie, was very nice, attentive and informative. We didn’t have to ask for anything, she was up on everything. Asked for fish substitution on a specific dish in which the chef was able to do. The food was outstanding. We had raw and cooked oysters, soup, salmon and scallops and key lime bars for dessert. We were both so full that we had to take some of our meal and dessert home. This experience was far above our first visit in which we had issues with the waiter. Glad we decided to give this restaurant another try.

As usual the food is sumptuous. The octopus is so delicious just like what I had when I travel to Portugal, Spain & Greece. My husband love his branzino fish, & I love my sea bass so delicious.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful 8 year wedding anniversary dinner at 801 Fish, thanks to a wonderful service staff and exceptional fine cuisine. Ambiance was exquisite, thanks to artful decor, nice music and a very professional team. Menu options were staggering, but our waitress was very generous in helping us navigate the options and find our favorites. It was everything we wanted and needed: a very romantic dinner, luxurious atmosphere with superb customer service. I highly recommend it for anyone in need of a great fine dining experience. I had a Caesar salad. It was disgusting and had bacon bits instead of anchovies ant the bacon was burnt. Also, the price was astronomical for the quality of the meal. The service was good. The ambience was good, but the food was horrible.

I gave advance notice regarding allergies and also when I ordered, but several dishes still contained spices or citrus. It is important that the chief be well informed regarding special requests that might cause guests to have an allergic reaction.

Server was attentive but had too many tables so service took almost two and a half hours. At least 3 of the six Rapihannock oysters were bad (I mean spoiled). I like 801 Fish but last night was a big disappointment.

impeccable service. As for food, the sea bass was cooked perfectly and was accompanied with wonderful vegetables. As appetizers. We had the octopus — perfect flavor, even better than the ones we enjoyed in Spain - and the grilled Caesar salad was a nice twist. We also had the Brussel sprouts side dish. It was not only delicious, but more than ample for two diners. This is a great restaurant all around, and so glad we selected it for an an anniversary dinner. We requested a secluded booth and they delivered. We will definitely be back. Great service, great food.

Had nothing short of an amazing experience. Our server Bear was very attentive and helped guide us through all of our selections for dinner. The Mahi Mahi was on par with coastal town’s seafood. And the oysters were on the small side but the flavor was spot on. Definitely a great dinner. My only complaint is I don’t live closer to come here more frequently. Well done 801 Fish.

Jess was an excellent server and rates 5 stars. The hostess was welcoming and engaging. The Massachusetts striped bass was very good and would rate 5 stars. The issue is with the new menu and the new changes which detract from the dining experience. First, you no longer serve the delicious fresh bread and substituted mediocre tasting lavash bread. This is a major downgrade and set the stage for the other issues. Second, my wife always orders your Prime NY strip which has consistently been outstanding. This time, the NY strip steak was served pre-sliced with a wine sauce over it. No one. No one serves NY strip steak sliced because the steak cools off more quickly and you lose the natural juices of the steak. The steak had the same good taste and was tender but it was ordered medium and was more medium well done. Third, the menu no longer includes the wedge salad which was always very good and a staple st a steakhouse. The Caesar salad was good but not better than the wedge salad. Fourth, the dejection of sides no longer has the Bay seasoned French fries and creamed spinach which were delicious. Instead, the sides include Brussels sprouts and smashed fingerling potatoes which are not the most popular thing to serve for most people. We underestimated both and the Brussels sprouts were very very dry and needed a dressing. The smashed fingerling potatoes weren’t mashed All the changes to the menu have been for the worse except for the addition of more seafood items like the whole branzino. We voiced these issues to our server. We didn’t see the manager walking around the restaurant as we are accustomed to. Chef, don’t change things when they work fine and the changes are not for the better.

The food is delicious. We had sea scallops and Alaskan Halibut, both tasted fresh and yummy. I would say their cooking can be compared to NYC fancy restaurants with a reasonable price. Meanwhile the service is excellent too!

This was our first time dining at 801 Fish. The decor was beautiful and our server was friendly and charming. The food was excellent. The ahi tartare was one of the best I’ve tasted and the lemon yuzu cheesecake was divine. We will be back!
