Amazing place highly recommended for locals and visitors
Awesome service and the most amazing filet mignon ever; not to mention the mashed potatoes were to die for.
I got sick throughout the next day due to eating there.
Ordered drinks and then appetizers as we planned on just relaxing for a bit with that and then ordering food. The server treated us terribly, very rude! Came to pick up the menus and I was like no we are ordering food and then his whole demeanor changed. Your food is very over priced. Nothing special compared to other steak houses in the area at half the price. Good luck in your future as there were only a handful people in restaurant at prime dinner time and seen multiple walk away from front desk once they looked at the menu
I was in Kansas City on business and wanted to try a restaurant that was not a national chain. 801 Chophouse was highly recommended and I can see why. I had the smaller cut of the prime rib. My server suggested the smaller cut and I'm glad he did - the cut had to be 1-1/2" thick at least. I'm not sure how them made that thick of a cut as tender as they did but it was very good. I took the suggestion of rubbing the meat in spices and putting it on the grill for a few seconds on each side. Personal opinion - and others will disagree - I thought the spices overwhelmed the meat a bit so I would not do it again. I also had the creamed corn (excellent) and the soufflé for dessert. If you have the time for the soufflé, it is also excellent. My only "complaint" is, as I noted previously, probably a personal choice - I would not get the spices on my prime rib next time. Other than that, next time I'm in Kansas City, I would visit 801 Chophouse to try the filet.
801 is one of our favorite restaurants in KC. The food is always incredible--not just good, mind you, but incredible. The service is always great, with attentive staff who take great care of you and ensure you have a great meal.
Wonderful experience as usual! Excellent presentation of steaks and our waiter Sean is always excellent!!
My family and I have been to 801 Chophouse several times and we are always impressed with the food and service. Our waiter, Sean M. Was very accommodating to my son. He went above and beyond and brought things for him without us having to ask. We will be requesting Sean M. The next time we go. 😊
Very good service. Manager was very helpful in making sure the steaks were done properly. Ryan the bartender- nice job. Waitstaff was very efficient and friendly. Also, two killer bottles of red died a happy death that evening.
Fabulous service, great atmosphere
The food was decent. But for that price point I would have expected a nicer ambiance and better quality plate. I would go back to Capital Grill over 801 for the $$$$
Great food and awesome ambiance! Well worth the price!
It was great!
This was a great place to go! The food was amazing and very worth the price. The service was exemplary and the staff are all very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning!
Absolutely amazing meal and service. Everyone go to 801 Chophouse for the best steaks and service in this city hands down.
Omg! The best place! It’s so nice, the staff is amazing! Food OMGGGG!!! I wish I can give them 10 stars!!!
Great food and great service!!
Annual dinner on B12 championship Saturday with my son. Haven’t missed in 10 yrs. our server, Michael, is the best. Even though we only stop in once a year, he makes us feel like regulars
801 Chop never disappoints!! We have had dinner at the Omaha, Leawood and Kansas City locations and they all have been amazing!!
Great everything. You pay for it though. But it's worth it.
Waiter (Pablo) truly incredible.
Friendly greeting, had reservations for my birthday and were seated in the bar area. Waiter was unique and very intent on up-selling us on our wine and steaks. I had the menu and did not need to have him bring out a tray with different off-menu pieces of meat and describe each piece in detail. We had a menu, we were there for a nice romantic dinner. Stop it. My medium rare ribeye was over cooked but I didn’t want to deal with sending it back. My wife’s scallops were blah. We decided we’d rather leave than mess with dessert. This was our first steak dinner after moving to KC from Houston and let’s just say we’ll be looking elsewhere for our 2nd.
Server was amazing. Made the experience one to remember
My prime rib was medium rare, when I ordered medium and it was lukewarm by the time it arrived on the table. My husband’s filet was over cooked.
Greeted warmly upon arrival. Server was great, knowledgeable and helpful. It made our 34th anniversary wonderful.
It was amazing and the service was awesome! ❤️❤️. Pricey but well worth every dollar!
ALWAYS Amazing food and service!
Beautiful venue with impeccable service. Unfortunately, the value is just not there for me. Dropped just over $600 for 4 of us and I could honestly cook a better steak at home. Cool to be within walking distance of P&L though. Made an after-dinner drink very easy to find.
The staff was very welcoming and kind. Our server was very knowledgeable and the ambiance was wonderful. We went for our anniversary and we also had a gift card we received from my sister who raves about 801! It was very pricey but WELL worth it and totally understandable. The best steaks we have ever ate and such a great experience getting to see the specialty steaks they had on hand. Everyone should dine here at least once!!
The food was amazing, our server was also amazing. Great atmosphere.
Service was a little slow. Restaurant didn't seem too busy but we waited almost 15 to 20 mins before I got my cocktail. Someone offered us if we wanted to see a meat tray and that never came. Then the Server made us aware that the kitchen was running behind. We waiting for 45 mins or more for our food. Food was good so it made up for the wait.
We had a party of 8, we were sat promptly, in private dining. The experience was very pleasant, and our waiter was fun. I’ve had better steaks locally, so the food wasn’t mind-blowing especially after paying at a high price point. Also, since the COVID-19, they do not provide valet.
The atmosphere, food, and service was really good. The prices were very expensive compared to other nice restaurants in the city. We did receive a gift card when the waiter brought our check. I definitely would visit again and recommend to others.
Steak burnt but medium rare. I ordered medium well. Broccoli tasted like it was cooked on a burnt grill. I will not go back.
awesome place to go! Went for a birthday for my wife.
Fantastic place to eat service was great food was so delicious steaks were cooked perfect Blue Cheecse Potatoes rocked.
We went for Valentine's Day and both had KC Strips. The steaks were cooked as requested and were great without any additional preparations. We had a crab cake as an appetizer which was really good. The mashed potatoes were very good as were the green beans. The only sad note was that the mac and cheese seemed to lack a slight bit of flavor compared to the rest of the dinner. The drinks seemed to have a slight short pour but that just depends on the bartender at the time.
Our server was above and beyond amazing. My wife ordered a drink which she did not care for, he apologized as if it was his fault and had a different one made. Also, he didn't charge us for the original drink. Then there was a slight mixup in the kitchen where they sent out two sides of mashed potatoes instead of one mash and one mac and cheese. He kept apologizing for this as well. He also never rushed us and ensured that we never had an empty drink glass the entire time.
Overall a great place for a special occasion dinner put a bit too high priced for a typical outing.
Also, they do actually pay attention to your request when you make a reservation through OpenTable unlike other restaurants.
