Food was not good
We had a business dinner on 5/11/21 and it could not have been a more perfect spot to host our guests. Shawn was our server and was incredible.
Best prime rib in KC along with wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. We keep coming back.
We go to 801 whenever we are in KC. This visit was so so, the Mothers Day special menu was nice. I bit into a piece of aluminum foil in my wedge salad. They offered me another salad which I said no, I was 3/4 of the way done with it. I figured maybe they would comp a drink but nothing. The apps and steaks were lukewarm...lukewarm oysters rock, calamari and bone marrow bones. Steaks were cooked nicely but lacked seasoning (salt)
Food was amazing. Staff was beyond excellent. Beautiful lighting. Enough space to have private conversation. Romantic feeling. Love it so much.
We had a fabulous Anniversary dinner and our waiter was amazing
Fantastic food and service. This was by far the best steakhouse experience I have had in KC
Sean was our waiter and just made the evening such a joy and special for my wife and I. Over the top.
My wife and I chose 801 Chophouse for our 25th Wedding Anniversary dinner. The table decorations and inscribed menu ("Happy 25th Anniversary!") were nice touches. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The food was of excellent quality and taste and displayed in an appealing fashion. The cocktails were delicious. The Restaurant was quiet but active. We will certainly return!
I pay hundred dollars for the wagu strip. I was very disappointed. The crust was to thick made it hard (this apparently is a signature. I didn't care for it). The fat on the edges, was unable to eat,,, gristle. The grilled asparagus with exquisite! The bread was good. The big tail came out warm with the cheese already hard. Disappointing. The columari... Nothing to write home about.
The waiter shane was delightful, elegant, good conversationalist and very knowledgeable. Kudos to Sean.
Service and food was amazing we’ll return next time in KC.
Outstanding dinner, everyone was more than satisfied. One minor item, the waiter should have asked us early if we wanted the soufflé dessert. Didn’t want to wait the 20 minutes for the soufflé to bake.
Table was decorated for the birthday boy. The atmosphere was nice and it felt like the staff and most patrons were respectful of the current pandemic situation.
Drinks were decent but not terribly strong. We *really* enjoyed the fresh tomato and onion salad. The prime rib was good. The chicken was not spectacular—tasted like dark meat even though I don’t think it was, but the dish components as a whole together made for a good flavor. I was super disappointed when I got home that the sauce and gnocchi didn’t make it in with my leftover chicken.
The server was nice but took a long time between visits to the table. We didn’t order for nearly 45 minutes and were there for over two hours but that wasn’t by our choice.
With most of the meal being just okay. And the service slow, I was really disappointed in the price value. I doubt we will return as there are better options in town for the price.
Brought my husband here for a surprise dinner and it blew us both away. We had the roasted oysters - best oysters I’ve ever had. I got the 8 oz filet mignon, he got the dry aged ribeye, then we split asparagus with Hollandaise sauce and scalloped potatoes. Delicious. Then we had dessert - cheesecake with caramel sauce and strawberry sauce, separated. Not to mention, our waiter Ryan was really awesome and totally got our style of food which I always appreciate. Best KC food experience for sure.
Great service, great food. Staff was helpful, professional, and attentive. Couldn't ask for more than that.
This was the best steak and meal I have had in an upscale steakhouse in Kansas City ever. Better than all the competition I have tried and I thought it was better than such other city steakhouse staples such as Mortons, Ruth Criss, etc...Excellent place to get a good steak and my wife and I will be back.
Great food done well
The best steak my husband and I have ever had in our opinion. We are both well traveled around the globe, but 801 Chophouse is still our favorite. We decided to try the Japanese wagyu, and we were not disappointed. I am nine months pregnant this visit, and the kitchen took extra care to ensure all the meat and seafood we ordered was cooked appropriately, and our server took the time to go over some "mocktail" options with me so I could enjoy a drink without the alcohol. From appetizers to dessert, everything was delicious as always!
801 Chophouse did it again! Amazing meal amazing service!!! Do not hesitate to come
To 801 to have the best meal ! Love this place !
We had metal / steel in our food
Manager brought us drinks but I recommend 801 and my customers and they was not happy I heard about it the last couple of nights.
Amazing. The menu even said happy birthday
It was my husband’s 71st Birthday and the staff made him feel very special. The table was tastefully decorated including a commemorative menu. Our waitress Lauren was particularly helpful as we made our food selections. She suggested the most incredible suffle for dessert which was a perfect choice to finish a delicious and well prepared meal. The dessert presented birthday greetings on a nice platter, hot dessert in the middle. They also treated us to an after dinner toast. Nice touch! The service was professional- friendly but not overbearing or intrusive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant on all counts- ambiance, excellent food and service.
Service was EXTREMELY slow. We sat down at 6:30 and were walking out a few minutes after 8:30. Also did not receive water refills promptly at all.
The food was exceptional and the service was equally as good, if not better! Could not recommend this restaurant any higher.
The ribeye was overdone and tough. There are many great steakhouses in KC but this is not one of them.
Excellent. Service was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious,
KC is known for steaks these were some of the best we have ever had in any city!
Great service. Excellent food. Great ambiance. Expensive, but worth every penny. We were celebrating a anniversary. They didn’t comp us a desert for the occasion, which would have been nice. Overall, well worth it.
Presentation and ambiance was too notch. Service was excellent. Steak was so-so to be honest. Not worth the prices by a long shot.
Amazing place highly recommended for locals and visitors
I wanted a meal at the bar. The bar was full service. Meal was great. Loved it.
Awesome service and the most amazing filet mignon ever; not to mention the mashed potatoes were to die for.
Ordered drinks and then appetizers as we planned on just relaxing for a bit with that and then ordering food. The server treated us terribly, very rude! Came to pick up the menus and I was like no we are ordering food and then his whole demeanor changed. Your food is very over priced. Nothing special compared to other steak houses in the area at half the price. Good luck in your future as there were only a handful people in restaurant at prime dinner time and seen multiple walk away from front desk once they looked at the menu
I was in Kansas City on business and wanted to try a restaurant that was not a national chain. 801 Chophouse was highly recommended and I can see why. I had the smaller cut of the prime rib. My server suggested the smaller cut and I'm glad he did - the cut had to be 1-1/2" thick at least. I'm not sure how them made that thick of a cut as tender as they did but it was very good. I took the suggestion of rubbing the meat in spices and putting it on the grill for a few seconds on each side. Personal opinion - and others will disagree - I thought the spices overwhelmed the meat a bit so I would not do it again. I also had the creamed corn (excellent) and the soufflé for dessert. If you have the time for the soufflé, it is also excellent. My only "complaint" is, as I noted previously, probably a personal choice - I would not get the spices on my prime rib next time. Other than that, next time I'm in Kansas City, I would visit 801 Chophouse to try the filet.
801 is one of our favorite restaurants in KC. The food is always incredible--not just good, mind you, but incredible. The service is always great, with attentive staff who take great care of you and ensure you have a great meal.
Wonderful experience as usual! Excellent presentation of steaks and our waiter Sean is always excellent!!
My family and I have been to 801 Chophouse several times and we are always impressed with the food and service. Our waiter, Sean M. Was very accommodating to my son. He went above and beyond and brought things for him without us having to ask. We will be requesting Sean M. The next time we go. 😊
Very good service. Manager was very helpful in making sure the steaks were done properly. Ryan the bartender- nice job. Waitstaff was very efficient and friendly. Also, two killer bottles of red died a happy death that evening.
