5 Palms is a lovely dining choice, particularly for first timers to the island. Its location is unsurpassed. The food varies from excellent to so-so. The service is consistently good. The restaurant website offers a communication option via email; however, my enquiry was not responded to. The restaurant used to offer an early bird special but discontinued it, which is unfortunate - particularly for their Canadian visitors. My overall experience is that the restaueant is good but overpriced.
Beautiful table up front to watch the sunset. Excellent service. Food fresh and Delicious!
Will be back next trip to the island!
We enjoyed the evening so much !
The food was delicious and our service was terrific!
We watched the whales 🐳 while the sun was setting
On the Pacific Ocean horizon.
Had a wonderful dinner just before sunset last weekend. The view is fantastic, covered, open-air seating overlooking the ocean. We did not have wine but the food was so very good.
Beautiful sunset, whale viewing, excellent food, & excellent service!!!
Very disappointing meal at 5 Palms Restaurant. The view is fabulous. And that's the best I can say. For a $49 steak, I expected it to come out medium, as ordered, tender, and with some flavor and all of that was severely lacking. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend or anyone else, unless they went for drinks and the view.
Beautiful view no matter what outdoor table. Nice menu with delicious food. Service was good. They do not rush you.
After nine consecutive years of fabulous dining experiences, 5 Palms continues its nonpareil high quality food, service and ambiance! 😀
In the area for vacation so went with another couple.
We were seated promptly and at our table we had an amazing view
We were with family members celebrating a 48th anniversary.
My daughter and husband went for fish dishes that were outstanding! I had the ribs, they were ok. Their signature salad was delicious! They have a great happy hour that lasts much longer than many! I would give that a try next time. Lovely old school open air hotel restaurant right on the beach.
Tara our server was excellent. My daughters burger was pink and even recooked it was still pink in some parts. I made the reservation on open table and stated it was for a special occasion and no one asked us about that. Overall the service was excellent
Location beautiful, service good, food is expensive, small portioned, and very disappointing in taste and presentation. One of our entrees was a $50 steak, half of which was inedible grizzle. My $35 vegetarian pasta dish was mediocre at best and very small in portion. They charged a $4 “split” charge for an appetizer that we shared. Drinks are priced very high $15 for watered down cocktails. $14 for small kids menus portions of plain pastas. Would NOT return, exorbitant pricing for two star food.
Mahalo to you all, I was given the best table, with the most epic views, the food was incredible and the staff were amazing! I will definitely be back on my next trip to Maui!
This venue is a nice place to have an oceanside dinner in a relaxed setting.
Dined here on New Years Day. The service was great, and the view/ambience was wonderful. The food, however, was lackluster. I ordered the local flare mahi mahi. The fish was overcooked and slightly dry, and the kim chee cucumber salad was way too salty and overpowered the whole entree. Definitely not worth the $50 price tag. Also, the online menu was not updated because it showed significantly lower prices.
We went for dinner for New Year’s Eve. We were greeted nicely and brought to our table - and then it started to go down hill.
We ordered some drinks - that took over 10 minutes to show up - only to have a Banana Daiquiri that didn’t have any banana and tasted only like lime.
The food was abysmal. My children each ordered a NY strip steak. For $59 each you would have thought it would have a little flavor, not be mostly fat and make my kids cry “please take it away”
My ahi tuna had a vile sauce on it that was likely there only to hide the mound of rice it was plopped on.
My spouse’s lobster risotto had only one small
Piece of lobster in it! Which might have been ok if it wasn’t over $50.
I urge you to think twice about going here. We spent over $300 for this meal that sadly, we probably won’t be able to forget.
Enjoyed the food. The butternut squash ravioli was delicious. The rack of lamb was also pretty tasty. If you are up for dessert try the pineapple creme brûlée.
I had a wonderful birthday dinner. I was a little bummed that the menu for new years was limited though. I was looking forward to having some sushi that I had the last time. But it was still amazing!
We have been here many time but only for regular dinners. This time we came for New Years eve dinner 2019 and the food was just plain bad. My family ordered 2 steaks both
Of which were chewy and severely undercooked. I ordered the Ahi Tuna which was beyond bland, on top of a very ugly blob of rice and with a sauce on top that didn’t taste like anything and just destroyed the taste of the Tuna. Plus the tuna was overcooked. Plus they had no ability to adjust for any dietary restrictions short of just giving my mother of law a simple greens salad (but weren’t able to just add a piece of chicken to that). So very disappointed. And we overheard two other families also express how they didn’t like their food on the way out while waiting for the valet parked car. So it wasn’t just us.
Disappointed in our New Years Eve dinner. The food was not very good and our bill was expensive. We ordered a lava cake for dessert and were told it would take 10 minutes. 35 minutes later we received it unapologetically and it was cold. The patio view was beautiful and ambience was nice. But it overall just fell short on service and food.
Food was average at best. Filet and NY strip were below average. Rib appetizer was good. Kids meals were not good either. Expensive buy you pay for the view.
Beautiful view and good food! Our go-to for ocean front dining.
They have poor service and organization. The food came out before appetizers. Plates are too expensive for the quality of what they served.
The filet mignon was full of fat not lean at all.
The waitress was the only good thing of the place.
What a view!!! Food was good, Maddy our waitress was nice, and it wasn't too noisy at all. A bit pricey but you are paying for where you are, and to have breakfast on the beach on a beautiful day before we had to fly out, I feel like we picked the perfect spot. I'll be back!
We have been to Wailea many times and 5 Palms is one of the restaurants we always visit. You cannot beat the sunset view. Tables are available inside and outside.
I have always had the seafood and I have never been disappointed. Just recently the yellowfin tuna in a Thai sauce. I highly recommend this dish. My wife had the ribs which were a little dry despite the sauce.
Overall, one of my favorite places to eat in Wailea and I would stick with the seafood.
We loved our waitress Tara and tried all her recommendations. My mild fish wrapped in crispy potatoes was outstanding and my husband devoured his steak. Try the pineapple brulee.
Wonderful! Our first time! Incredible view and the Ahi superb!!!
Our meal was excellent, but we were disappointed that 3 of the 6 or so entree’s were unavailable.
Christmas Day family dinner
I was worried to book after reading all the bad recent reviews. But our experience was great - from initial meeting to attentive waitress to pacing of dinner. Food was delicious and I have nothing to complain about!
Christmas Day, they seat us, leave menus. They come and bring water, finally waiter takes drink menu. Brings our drinks and we proceed to order, he takes the piece of the menu that I plan on ordering from, crumples it up in front of me and says, you can’t have that today! We are only offering a set menu, well I had that last year, well you CANT. So I ask for a minute, when he comes back I ask about the turkey dinner, is it white meat or dark? White, I only want dark, oh you can’t have that. Geez, so I order a $17 USD salad, it comes it’s maybe half a dinner plate with bagged lettuce, 3 pieces of beets and a tbs of goat cheese.
I comment on how small it is ! Dirty looks.
My husband had Tuna, said seared, more like steamed.
Ate our meals and no waiter to be found..... no. How’s your meal. Comes with dessert menu, and the one thing I might have ordered, was sold out ! Really
Needless to say big fail!
Will not go back.
We went there for Christmas dinner and they ran out of a couple dishes of the menu. Service was not friendly nor efficient. The big check doesn’t match the regular food or bad experience.
We sat outside instead of inside in the dining room. It was extremely windy, which we didn’t mind. However, it seemed that because if the windy weather, the wait staff was more concerned with the extremely busy dining room, and those of us outside had less consistent service. There were different people coming out to the patio, 2 Managers, a server, a waiter and a hostess, still our order was wrong and our requests were forgotten.
We will visit again, it’s one of our favorite restaurants, it just seemed like the Christmas holiday service was lacking.
With the prices being through the roof and the setting being very formal I was expecting a really fancy and nice dinner. I didn’t get off of the Christmas Special Menu because it didn’t sound appealing so me and my husband got a New York Strip which didn’t taste bad but you could tell they seasoned with Heinz 57 or A1 sauce there was nothing special about the steaks and the mashed potatoes a very drenched in the sauce from the steak as well overall the food was decent but nothing near what I was expecting! The service was good I wouldn’t say it was over the top but nothing to complain about and the restaurant itself was stifling hot I do not understand how the servers were doing it! I understand it’s Maui but there was no airflow or anything! I bet it was every bit of 90+ degrees and it was only 77 outside!
Great waitstaff but the food was just okay. Not a lot of choices and the steak was super tough. The decor is run down.
Food NOT good.
BBQ ribs tender but slathered in so much sauce you can’t tell what the meat is.
Pasta meal $30 is literally a whole bag of pasta served in a giant bowl.
$30 gnocchi where the gon I can’t be found. Some sweet potatoes and veg worth $5.
Master Chef Jr would have better chefs.
Please hire a new chef
Lovely spot. We were early and there was no hesitation to seat us anyway. Very welcome feeling throughout our meal
Would have been nice to have Hawaiian music, either live or recorded.
